The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 468: Witch's Bay
Sean: “?”
What kind of size is that?
“That’s a size?”
Sean had never even heard of it.
Elise walked over, sat on his lap, and wrapped her arms around his neck. In a suggestive tone, she said, “Magic Type means I know a little Magic. I can temporarily change its size. It can be as big as Mr. Writer wants it to be.”
Sean: “…”
He understood.
A man’s Magic Spell was “Quickly Harden.”
A woman’s was “Quickly Grow.”
“Let’s get some sleep.”
Sean had no desire to chat with Elise about this stuff. Otherwise, he couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t get hungry again in a little while.
They needed to sleep early today, wake up early tomorrow, and get their business done quickly so they could return in time for the evening banquet.
Elise pouted. “You’re no fun.”
She had originally planned to let Sean experience her size for himself.
But thinking about how busy they’d be tomorrow, she decided against it.
She would let the man off the hook for tonight, lest Sean say she was being inconsiderate.
That night, Sean slept soundly.
First, because Elise didn’t get handsy with him, nor mouthy.
Second, because there was something Howard had forgotten to tell him the previous night.
The distinguished guest was staying on the floor right above them.
Sean and Elise were on the third floor.
Daeli and Elvire were on the fourth floor.
The Guest Castle was actually quite large, with several rooms on each floor, but they were all distinguished guests, after all. Occupying separate floors was only fitting for their status.
Fortunately, Sean didn’t know this. Otherwise, in his curiosity, he might have found an excuse to go upstairs and have a look.
And then someone wouldn’t have been able to sleep.
Luckily, Howard hadn’t said anything, so Sean had escaped disaster for the time being.
Early the next morning, after he and Elise finished the breakfast brought by a servant, they put on simple disguises and once again left Grev Castle for the city center.
It wasn’t so much a disguise as a change into local attire to avoid attracting attention like yesterday. One glance then had been enough to mark them as outsiders. This way, if something did happen, it would be much harder for any enemies to trace it back to them.
Meanwhile, on the fourth floor of the Guest Castle.
Elvire was standing on the small balcony extending from the living room.
She had barely slept all night. She had hoped to get some fresh air and lift her spirits by looking at the morning view, but she suddenly noticed two people walking out.
They were a man and a woman, both wearing hats, and they looked like a noble couple.
She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but Elvire found their backs very familiar.
‘Like Sean.’
‘If the man is Sean, then the woman is most likely Elise.’
‘That cheating pair came to the New World behind my back to have an affair in the first place. It’s entirely possible they’re pretending to be a married couple.’
But even as she thought this, Elvire knew her sense of “familiarity” didn’t really make sense. From so far away, it wasn’t true recognition, but more of a feeling that the man resembled Sean.
Mainly, Elvire didn’t think Sean would come to Austin Castle.
It was separated from the Inland by the Winterless Sea, making it too far. It was also adjacent to the Medanzo Flame Territory. The last time she suggested bringing Sean home to meet her sister, he had refused. Why would he come all the way out here on his own initiative?
‘I probably just miss him too much. Everyone I see looks like him…’
‘Wait, no.’
As the thought crossed her mind, Elvire’s brow suddenly furrowed—
‘Who would miss that scumbag who cheated with my best friend?’
She wasn’t missing Sean at all.
Not one bit.
Just now, her eyes were playing tricks on her, that’s all.
“Eli, breakfast is ready.”
Daeli’s voice called from inside the room.
“Coming, coming…”
Elvire answered, took one last look at the backs of the noble couple, and turned back into the living room.
…
「An hour later.」
Sean and Elise arrived in the southern part of the city and found the address Howard had given them.
It was a commercial office building with a rather crowded plaza out front.
Sean checked the note several times to be sure. It was the right place. He then led Elise into the building through the main entrance.
The elevator was lined with illuminated ad signs for shops in the building: “Witch’s Cafe,” “White Witch Alchemy Workshop,” “Black Jack Wedding,” and so on. Having been in the New World for some time, this was the first time Sean really felt that “Magic was integrated into daily life.” Compared to the cities of the Inland, this place felt much more like somewhere a Wizard would live.
The unit number Howard had given them was 4507.
The elevator was fast and the ride was smooth.
Sean and Elise arrived on the 45th floor, and after just a few steps, they saw the 4507-unit plaque on the hallway wall.
“Witch’s Bay – High-End Customization”
“Looks like a fashion design studio?” Elise said.
Sean, however, reached out and knocked on the door.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
“…”
No response.
‘They can’t still be closed, can they?’
Sean glanced at the time; it was already 9:30 in the morning.
Besides, logically speaking, the fashion studio was just a front. Intelligence work was usually a 24-hour “business,” because things were happening all over the world at every moment. Every minute of rest was a minute of missed information.
Howard had been the one to recommend this person, which meant the Grev Family had dealings with this woman called Owl. Logically, she should be reliable.
So, Sean knocked again.
Still no response.
Sean frowned.
He knocked again.
Harder this time.
But who would have thought that this forceful knock would “knock” the door right open?
With a CREAK, the door swung open a crack.
Sean: “…”
Elise: “…”
‘Was the door not even closed in the first place?’
For a moment, Sean didn’t know what to say. He prepared to push the door open and take a look inside.
“Wait.” Elise reached out to stop him. “I’ll go in first.”
Sean: “…”
He knew Elise was afraid there might be a trap inside and was trying to protect him.
Sean felt a warmth in his heart, but also found it a little funny. “You think it’s that serious?”
