When it came to pure nerve, Sean was far bolder than any of these Witch Hunters.

"So, you called specifically to warn me?" Bofunova asked.

"I think we can cooperate," Carlos said.

"What kind of cooperation?" Bofunova replied. "I’m listening."

"I know you have a thing for handsome men," Carlos said, getting straight to the point. "As far as I know, your Kovloki Family has never had much to do with the Florist Family, and your relationship could hardly be called good. This means you don’t want to capture Sean for some so-called revenge for the Florist Family. You want him purely out of your duty as a Witch Hunter... and your own personal tastes."

A private call was different from a meeting in New Eldo. There was no need to be secretive or put on airs; they could speak frankly.

After all, none of them were good people.

"What’s this? Are you asking me not to touch him, Mr. Carlos?" Bofunova asked.

"No," Carlos said. "He’s on your turf now, so he’s your man. Do whatever you want with him—even eight times a night wouldn’t be a problem. But I hope Miss Bofunova will spare his life. When you’re tired of playing with him, hand him over to me. In exchange, all materials the Wolf Family provides to the Kovloki Family next year will be free of charge. How about it?"

Bofunova laughed. "So after all this talk, you want me to be your hired muscle, Mr. Carlos? You want me to catch him for you?"

"Do you take our Kovloki Family for some cheap mercenaries off the street who’ll do anything for money?"

"I never said that," Carlos replied. "I came to you in good faith. If you insist on viewing a normal collaboration from that angle, then there’s nothing I can do."

Bofunova scoffed. "You’re pretty smooth for a scumbag."

His personal character having been impugned, Carlos retorted seriously, "I am not a scumbag."

’Scumbags are irresponsible,’ he thought. ’I’m different. I assess the value of my target beforehand and then make an equivalent exchange.’

"I believe you," Bofunova said. "After all, scumbags are usually very handsome."

Carlos: "?"

’What does she mean by that?’

"Alright, Mr. Carlos, I accept your offer," Bofunova said.

She had bantered with Carlos not because she enjoyed small talk, but to buy herself time to think.

’Sean first killed Zajik in New Eldo, then went to Lankate City and destroyed Florist Castle. Both incidents caused a huge stir—an undeniable provocation to the Witch Hunter Families, and an even greater one to the Church Court. The Church Court will never let him go.’

’So, even if I did capture Sean, I could never keep him for myself. If the Church Court found out, I’d be in for a world of hurt. I like handsome men, and I’m very satisfied with Sean’s looks, but I’m not about to risk my life hiding a criminal and defying the Church Court for him.’

’My desire is perfectly rational—physical, not personal.’

’A little fun is all it will be.’

’Afterward, I can hand him over to Carlos and get a shipment of materials out of it.’

Bofunova knew Carlos wouldn’t be losing out on this deal, either.

"They have more than ten people with them—a Flame Crow, a Witch, a Dream Builder... they’re all there," Carlos reminded her again. "Don’t be careless. I don’t want to see your Kovloki Family become the next Florist Family."

Bofunova’s lazy tone dripped with sarcasm. "Don’t worry. I’m not you. I won’t fail to catch a few Wizards and just stand by watching them leave, only to go ask someone else for help."

"I’ll be waiting for your good news," Carlos snorted and hung up.

Hearing the dial tone, Bofunova clicked her tongue. ’Tsk, he actually got angry.’

’Was I wrong?’

’If he was actually competent, would Sean have been able to just walk out of Siracle State?’

’That’s just how people are. It’s bad enough they’re incompetent, but they can’t even stand to be told so.’

’But that’s fine, too.’

’If Carlos wasn’t so pathetic, how would I get the chance to devour a dish like Sean?’

A sound of splashing water rang out.

Having finished her business with Carlos, Bofunova didn’t hand her phone to the waiting servant. Instead, she rose from the bathtub, completely naked.
