The Martial Unity

Chapter 4628: The Third Attempt

  • Next Chapter

The Mindwebber was truly furious at the Emperor of Water. At the very inception of the battle, she had been caught off-guard by a hyperdimensional jab, which Rui used to inject her with the Tide of Samsara.

Even if she didn’t specialize in the web of the body, it should have been easy to crush the Tide of Samsara when it wasn’t being actively supported by the Emperor’s Martialverse. And yet, because of its hyperdimensional nature, not only was she not able to crush it in a short amount of time, but she couldn’t even permanently exorcise it from her body.

Every time she had attacked the Tide of Samsara or had managed to corner it, it would jump into higher dimensions. When she tried to use her Webverse to seal off the higher dimensions, she realized that her body alone couldn’t deal with the poison without the Verse actively supporting her.

The Tide of Samsara wasn’t an unliving poison. It not only had the Anicca Current, which was the chaos-upgraded version of the Gu, but it also had the Antithesis Hive, which was not only sentient but also very intelligent. Its ability to adaptively evolve was much superior to any other bioweapon.

The Divine Mother was humiliated that the single attack had kept her out of commission for as long as it had. She specialized in mental networks between different forces, allowing them to essentially share a hive mind that was greater than the sum of the parts. That was why attacks such as the Tide of Samsara were powerful enough to seal her in battle.

"You. Shall. Pay. For. Humiliating. Me!" She spat at the Emperor of Water.

Rui’s expression tightened. The Divine Mother had intervened at the worst moment possible. Just as he gained the confidence to take out the leader of the War Faction once and for all, the incapacitated Divine Mother returned, completely turning the tables.

"Behold. The. Collective. Power. Of. Our. Web!"

She closed her eyes, spreading her arms. Rui’s ethereal eyes widened as he felt a truly profound set of bonds forging between her and the rest of her sisters. These bonds, however, weren’t merely bonds of energy or matter, but rather bonds of information.

Her Webverse was quite different from those of her sisters, who used it a bit more like that of a domain. Her Webverse was shaped like a web. It stretched out between her sisters and herself, creating an amalgamation of information between all of their integrated information.

Their minds were connected through hers. Not only were they connected, but Rui could sense that they overlapped as well. Every thought one had would be shared with every other. Their intentions. Their plans. Their emotions. Their insights. And even their skill!

Each Divine Mother momentarily paused in their offensive assault, closing their eyes, giving the protectors of Gaia just a moment of reprieve to reset the battle. But they very quickly realized that it was the Divine Mothers who benefited most from the pause.

Whether it was Argenton, God’s Hammer, Gaia, the unconscious Mother Maeria, or Rui himself, they could each sense the connecting and overlapping consciousnesses between each of them.

They could each feel the spiking danger.

Rui gritted his teeth as his nerves tingled.

The leader of the War Faction was scary enough by herself. She was so strong that for most of their battle, she had been on the offensive while he had barely managed to keep the battle going.

And now, she felt even stronger.

Not just the collective as a whole.

But each individual Divine Mother felt stronger.

"Verse Amplification."

Rui’s expression tightened with grave severity. He had experienced this the previous time he fought Divine Mothers. The Mindwebber wasn’t merely connecting and overlapping their consciousnesses, but rather was amplifying their Administrative power tremendously.

RUMBLE!!!!!

The world shook with their power as an overwhelming sense of inevitability and finality washed over the entire solar system. Rui could feel the despair radiating from not just the minds of his comrades but that of every human within the solar system.

When the Divine Mothers opened their eyes, they were glowing. They glowed with the light of not only their minds, but that of their sisters as well. They glowed with that of a mind that was the sum of their minds and more.

"One. Last. Chance."

The leader of the War Faction spoke with a voice that overlapped hers and those of her sisters.

"Give. Us. Administrative. Impunity. And. We. Shall. Leave."

This was the third time she had made this offer, but this time’s offer was much more alluring than both prior times. They both knew that the odds of them overcoming this hurdle were slim to none.

"Fail. To. Comply... And. We. Shall. Destroy. This. World. Right. Now."

She shared her thoughts through her Verse just so that he could feel her conviction. She truly would do what she said this time. She was confident that she could stop Rui from running away with the hive mind web.

"I. Know. You. Care. About. This. World. These. Insects. These... lesser. Beings," she spoke with an intense tone of voice. "That. Is. Why. You. Hold. Back. Your. Highest. Strength... you. Do. Not. Wish. To. Destroy. This. Solar. System. And. Everything. Within. It."

Rui’s eyes sharpened. "...You’ve done your research into me."

"Of. Course. We. Did... that. Is. Why. We. Chose. To. Ambush. You. At. Home."

The leader of the War Faction was wiser than he had imagined. She had acquired information not only about his scarcely used trump card, but also about its greatest flaws and wisely chose an environment where that power was sealed.

At the same time, she pressured him, but not enough to make him desperate enough to use it anyway.

She could calmly assess the situation and what the best path to her objective was. He realized that this might have been the goal from the very start if they failed to capture him outright.

To hold the entire solar system hostage in multiple ways.

’Wait...’ It was only then that an idea popped into his mind.

She wasn’t the only one with a hostage.

He thought of an opponent of the past.

The very first Divine Mother he had ever fought.

Divine Mother o-o-o-o.

She was alive.

A smile cracked at the edge of his mouth.
