"Shili, since you’re here, why not stay a bit? I haven’t seen you for ages," Mrs. Gu stepped out and called to him.

Mrs. Gu seemed to have realized that Gu Shili was in a conflicted state now, unwilling to acknowledge this mother but unable to sever ties completely.
