The Hidden Luna of Blackmoor Valley
Chapter 412 Facing Malachai - Kaelen
Chapter 412: Chapter 412 Facing Malachai - Kaelen
Kaelen’s POV
My blood ran cold, and my hands tightened around my swords. How did he know? Who told him?
He tilted his head. "I have heard about you. The Alpha with the weakness. The one who cannot touch silver."
My jaw tightened, and I did not deny it. But the question burned in my mind like a fire.
I wanted to ask, and I wanted to demand an answer. But I did not.
How did he know? Who had betrayed me?
Malachai laughed. "You think you can kill me? You think your swords can hurt me?"
I took a step forward. "I think I can try."
Malachai held up a hand. "Wait," he said. "Before you do something foolish, let me introduce you to some people. Because I know you are wondering how I know about your allergy."
He pointed to the edge of the battlefield. I turned to look, and my blood ran cold.
Serena was there, and she was not the same. Her eyes were black, and her skin was pale. She looked like one of the corrupted wolves, and I knew that she was possessed.
I blinked, and my blood ran colder as I saw the person beside her.
It was Vivienne.
Vivienne was not corrupted, but there was a dark energy around her. Like a shadow that clung to her skin.
The air around them was wrong. It was cold and heavy, like the air in the Ashen Lands.
Vivienne waved to me, and she smiled.
Serena smiled too, but it was a dark smile. It was not human.
I stared. My heart stopped, and my breath caught in my throat.
"No," I whispered. "It cannot be."
I had thought Serena was gone, and I had thought Vivienne had disappeared. But here they were, standing beside Malachai like they belonged there.
Malachai whistled. "Come here," he called.
Serena and Vivienne walked toward him, and they stopped beside him.
Malachai looked at me. "They told me everything," he said. "About your silver allergy, about your pack, and about your mate."
The words hit me like a physical blow.
My hands shook. Not from fear. From rage.
I felt the rage build in my chest. It was hot and wild, and it burned through my veins. My wolf howled inside me, and I felt his claws pressing against my skin.
My hands clenched around my swords.
"Serena," I whispered. "Vivienne. What have they done to you?"
Serena’s eyes became colder. "You left me for that little thing you called your Luna." She spat. "Now, I am back for vengeance, Kaelen."
Vivienne laughed like a possessed wolf. "Dear, dear Kaelen. Did you think you could get rid of us that easily?" She laughed crazily again, then her voice dropped cold. "You are wrong. And now, your end, and that of your precious little Talia, has come."
Their words were poison. They were meant to break me. But I had faced worse. I had survived worse.
My brows furrowed together, and my chest heaved up and down with anger boiling in my chest. "I will destroy all of you." I said. "And you are wrong. Because my Luna, my Talia, is much more than you can imagine, you possessed demons."
Vivienne smiled. "Hope you said your goodbyes."
Malachai turned, and raised his hand to Serena and Vivienne. "Go," he said. "Go for the Luna, and bring her to me at once."
Serena and Vivienne bowed to Malachai, then they turned. They started walking toward the ridge where Talia was, with their steps slow and deliberate, like they had all the time in the world.
I watched them go, and I felt the bond between Talia and me stretch and pull.
I could feel her fear through the bond. It was sharp and cold, and it cut through me like a blade.
My heart stopped, and my blood ran cold. I saw the ridge in my mind, and I saw Talia, weak and alone. I saw Serena and Vivienne walking toward her, with their steps slow and deliberate.
I could not let them reach her, and I could not let them touch her. "You will not touch my Luna." I screamed.
Then I reached into my wolf. "Bane, please old friend, we have to stop them," I told my wolf.
I could feel Bane pressing against my skin. He was ready. He had been ready since the moment I saw Serena and Vivienne.
"Then let me out," my wolf growled. "Let me out now."
The scream ripped from my throat. "No!" It was not a word, and it was a plea. It was a promise, and it was a threat.
I reached for my wolf, and I told him to take over. "Now," I growled. "I need you now."
My wolf surged forward, and my body contorted and changed. My bones cracked and reformed, and my muscles stretched and shifted. The pain was sharp, but I welcomed it.
My dark fur rippled across my skin, my teeth sharpened into points, and my eyes turned gray. I was no longer a man, I was a beast.
The world sharpened. I could smell their fear, and I could hear their heartbeats.
I charged after Serena and Vivienne with my paws pounding against the dead earth, and my breath came in ragged gasps.
And I ran toward them as they walked toward Talia.
But before I could run far away, Malachai’s voice boomed behind me, stopping me in my tracks.
I froze. My paws stopped moving, and my breath caught in my throat.
"Not so fast wolf." He yelled. "If you move one more inch, I will command my whole army to go for your precious Luna."
