The Hidden Luna of Blackmoor Valley
Chapter 365 The Truth about his Father
Chapter 365: Chapter 365 The Truth about his Father
Talia’s POV
I looked around the table, at the wolves who had gathered to fight against, and totally remove one enemy.
I stepped forward, and I felt the determination in my chest. "We are ready for this. We have prepared for weeks, and we will not let Malachai win."
The warriors cheered, and I felt the hope rising in my chest.
After the meeting, I walked with Kaelen toward our room. But I stopped at the doorway.
"Kaelen," I said, and I turned to him. "I need to check on my mother one more time before bed. I will meet you in the room."
He looked at me, and I saw the understanding in his gray eyes. "Take your time, Talia. I will be waiting for you."
I nodded, and I walked to my mother’s room.
When I reached the door, I knocked softly. "Mother? Are you still up?"
I heard movement inside the room, like my mother was shifting something."Come in, Talia," her voice came from inside.
I opened the door, and I saw her sitting by the fire, and putting a log in the fire. The room was quiet, and I could see the exhaustion on her face. Piper was not there, and I knew that she had already gone to her room for the night.
"Mother," I said, and I walked to her. "I wanted to check on you before bed."
She smiled, and I saw the warmth in her tired eyes. "I am fine, Talia. You do not have to worry about me."
I sat down beside her, and I took her hand. "I know. But I wanted to be with you."
She squeezed my hand, and I felt the warmth of her fingers against mine. "Thank you, Talia. That means everything to me."
We sat in silence for a moment, and I felt the peace settling over me.
I watched the firelight dance across my mother’s face, and I felt the love swelling in my chest. She had been through so much, and she was still standing. She was still fighting, and she was still here.
"Mother," I said, and I felt the words rising in my chest. "I told Kaelen about his father."
My mother looked at me, and I saw the surprise in her eyes. "You did?"
I nodded. "He needed to know. He needed to know that his father was a hero." I said. "I told him on our way back from the Ashen lands, that you said his father was a good wolf, and that he saved you by giving up his life."
My mother was quiet for a moment, and I saw the tears in her eyes. "How did he take it?"
I saw the fear in her eyes, the fear that she had hurt him by keeping the secret for so long. She had carried the weight of that story for years, and she had never known how to share it.
I squeezed her hand. "He was quiet at first, but I think it helped him. I think it gave him peace."
I had seen the shift in his eyes when I told him, and I had seen the weight lifting from his shoulders. He had carried the burden of not knowing for so long, and now he finally had the truth.
My mother nodded, and I saw the relief on her face. "I am glad, Talia. I have carried that story for so long, and I am glad he finally knows."
I looked at her, and I felt the love in my chest. "You are a good mother, Mother. You have always been a good mother."
She reached for my face, and she cupped my cheek. "And you are a good daughter, Talia. I am so proud of you."
I leaned into her touch, and I felt the tears burning in my eyes. "I love you, Mother."
She pulled me into her arms, and I felt her warmth against me. "I love you too, Talia. I have always loved you."
We sat together in the silence, and I felt the peace settling over me. I had told Kaelen about his father, and I had found my own peace.
I said goodnight to my mother, and I walked to my room.
The hallway was quiet, and the torches flickered in their brackets. I felt the exhaustion pulling at me, but I also felt the peace. I had done what I needed to do, and I was ready to rest.
When I reached the door and stepped into the room, I saw Kaelen waiting for me. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, and he looked up when I entered.
"Talia," he said, and he walked to me. "Is everything okay?"
I nodded, and I felt the tears burning in my eyes. "Everything is fine, Kaelen. I just needed to be with her."
He pulled me into his arms, and I felt his warmth against me. "I know, Talia. I know."
I pressed my face into his chest, and I let myself breathe. "I told her about you, and I told her how much you mean to me."
Kaelen held me tighter. "I love you, Talia. I love you so much."
I looked up at him, and I felt the love in my chest. "I love you too, Kaelen. I love you too.”
