Chapter 364 Cleared for Battle
Chapter 364: Chapter 364 Cleared for Battle
Talia’s POV
Kaelen’s hand was warm in mine as we stood in the hallway.
I had just left my mother’s room, and he had been waiting for me, just like he always did.
I had left my mother’s room with the plan of going to look for him, but he was here waiting for me, and he had not moved.
He had not complained about me leaving him in the morning. He had simply waited, because that was who he was. He was patient, and he was steady, and he was mine.
His gray eyes were soft, and I could see the love in them. He lifted my hand to his lips, and he pressed a soft kiss to my knuckles.
I felt the warmth of his lips against my skin, and I felt the love spreading through my chest. It was a small gesture, but it meant everything. It meant that he was here, and he was mine, and he would always be mine.
"I have been waiting for you," Kaelen said, and his voice was warm.
I smiled, and I stepped closer to him. "I know. I am sorry I took so long."
He shook his head. "You do not have to apologize. I was just thinking about something."
My brows furrowed together. "What were you thinking about?" I asked.
Kaelen’s eyes met mine, and I saw the lightness in them. "I went to see the chief healer this morning, after you left for your mother’s room."
My eyes widened. "You did? What did she say?"
Kaelen smiled, and I saw the relief in his gray eyes. "She cleared me, Talia. She said my body has healed enough from the silver." he said.
I felt the tears burning in my eyes as I looked at him. He had been through so much, and he had never complained. He had never given up. And now, he was finally getting his strength back.
"She said I can go back to fighting too." Kaelen added.
I felt the tears burning in my eyes. "Kaelen, that is wonderful."
He nodded, and I saw the joy on his face. "I know. I have been waiting for this moment for weeks."
I looked at him, and I felt the love in my chest. "Is that all she said? Or should I ask her for the rest of her words?" I asked, half joking and half serious.
Kaelen laughed, and I saw the sheepish look on his face. "Fine. She told me not to push myself. She said the silver allergy could pull me down if I am not careful."
I reached for his hand, and I squeezed it. "Then we will be careful. We will make sure you do not push yourself too hard."
I looked into his gray eyes, and I saw the determination in them. He wanted to fight, and he wanted to protect us. But I needed him to be safe, and I needed him to come back to me.
Kaelen pulled me closer, and I felt his arms around me. "I promise, Talia. I will be careful."
Before I could respond, I felt a familiar warmth spreading through my mind. Then Cain’s voice echoed in my thoughts.
"Alpha, Luna. The warriors are gathering. We need you in the meeting hall."
Kaelen looked at me, and I saw the seriousness in his eyes. "It is time." He said.
I nodded. "Then let us go." I replied.
We walked to the meeting hall, and I saw the warriors already gathered.
Jax and Silas were standing near the front, and Cain was at the head of the table. The other warriors were seated around the room, with their faces filled with anticipation.
Kaelen walked to the front, and I stood beside him.
I watched him take his place at the head of the table, and I felt the pride swelling in my chest. He was strong, and he was confident, and he was everything this pack needed. He was my Alpha, and he was my mate.
"Thank you all for coming," Kaelen said, and his voice carried across the room. "I know we have been preparing for weeks, but we need to talk about what comes next."
One of the warriors raised his hand, then he spoke, and his voice was filled with concern.
I saw the fear in his eyes, the same fear that was reflected in the faces of the other warriors. They had heard the rumors, and they were afraid. But they were also ready to fight.
"Alpha, we have heard rumors that Malachai is gathering his army faster than we expected." He said.
Kaelen nodded. "I have heard the same. That is why we need to be ready." He replied.
Jax stepped forward. "We have been training day and night, and our warriors are ready." Jax added.
Silas spoke, his voice calm and measured. "But we need more information, Alpha. We need to know when Malachai will strike." Silas suggested.
Cain looked at Kaelen, and I saw the seriousness in his eyes. "We have scouts watching the border. They will report as soon as they see movement." Cain said.
I saw the tension in Cain’s shoulders as he spoke. He was always watchful, and always ready, and I knew that he would not rest until he knew exactly what we were facing.
