Chapter 177: Chapter 177 Vivienne’s Escape 1

Talia’s POV

The afternoon sun streamed through the window, casting a warm golden light across the room.

It was the kind of light that made everything feel soft and peaceful, and a reminder that the world was still beautiful even after everything we had been through. I let myself bask in it for a moment, feeling the warmth on my skin.

I lay beside Kaelen, with my head resting on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. His fingers traced lazy patterns on my back, and I felt the tension of the past few days slowly melting away.

For the first time since the battle, I felt like I could breathe. The nightmares had stopped, and the fear had faded. I was safe, he was safe, and we were together.

I felt Kaelen’s hand move lower down my body.

I felt his lips on my neck, soft and warm, trailing down to my collarbone. He kissed his way across my shoulder, and I shivered at the feel of his touch.

"Kaelen," I whispered.

He did not stop. His lips moved lower, down my chest, and I felt my breath catch in my throat. His hands roamed my body, gentle but insistent, and I felt the heat rising between us.

I wanted him, and I wanted to be close to him.

I wanted to lose myself in him, to forget about everything that had happened and just exist in this moment. But I knew I could not, because he was still healing, and I would not risk his recovery.

I wanted to feel his skin against mine, and to lose myself in him. But I could not do that yet.

I placed my hand on his chest and gently pushed him back.

"Kaelen, stop," I said. "You are still recovering, so you need to rest."

He looked at me, and his gray eyes were dark with desire. "I am fine," he said, trying to catch his breath. "It will not affect me."

"Kaelen..." I started.

He kissed me again, soft and slow, and I felt my resolve weakening. But I pulled back and shook my head.

"No," I said. "When you are fully recovered, we can continue. Not before."

He grumbled, and I could see the frustration in his eyes.

His jaw tightened, and I could tell he wanted to argue. But he looked at my face, and he must have seen the worry in my eyes, because his expression softened.

But he did not push. He just let out a long breath and nodded.

"Fine," he said. "But I am not happy about it."

I smiled and kissed his forehead.

"I know you are frustrated," I said softly. "But I would rather wait, than risk hurting you.

“You are worth the wait, Talia. But I am already fine, and this does not stop my ability to perform, and satisfy you." He said gently, cupping my cheek.

"I know. But I want you to get better, and i want you to be strong first." I smiled, then kissed him on the cheek gently.

He sighed, but he smiled, and he pulled me close.

We walked to the bathroom together and showered. The water was warm, and the steam filled the room, washing away the last traces of the day.

He washed my back, and I washed his.

The water ran over us, warm and soothing, and I let myself relax. There was something intimate about this moment, about the way we moved together without words, trusting each other completely.

And we did not speak, because we did not need to.

When we came out, we climbed into bed and lay together. His arm was around my waist, and my head was on his chest. The warmth of his body seeped into mine, and I felt safe.

Soon, my eyelids felt very heavy. I closed my eyes slowly, and let sleep take me.

I woke to the sound of knocking at the door.

I blinked against the dim light and looked around the room. The sun had moved lower in the sky, and the shadows were growing longer. Kaelen was still asleep beside me, with his breathing slow and even.

The knocking came again, louder this time.

The sound echoed in the quiet room, and I felt a flicker of annoyance. I had been so comfortable, and so at peace, and I did not want to be disturbed.

I climbed out of bed and walked to the door. I opened it, and I saw a servant standing in the hallway, holding a tray of food.

She was young, with kind eyes and a nervous smile. I recognized her as one of the servants who had helped in the healers hall during the battle. She looked tired, but she was still working, and still serving the pack.

There was fresh bread, a bowl of soup, a bowl of fresh fruits, and a cup of tea on the tray.

"Luna," she said, bowing. "I have brought your dinner."

I looked at the tray, then back at her. "Thank you," I said.

She carried the tray to the desk and set it down. Then she bowed and left.

I closed the door and turned to Kaelen.

He was sitting up, with his gray eyes that were soft and warm. He looked so much better than he had just a few days ago. The color in his cheeks had returned, and the sharpness had come back to his gaze.
