Chapter 176: Chapter 176 Serena’s punishment 2

Talia’s POV

When she smiled, I felt the tension in my shoulders ease.

"Your wounds have healed faster than I ever expected," she said. "The silver damage is almost gone. You are recovering well, Alpha."

Kaelen nodded. "Thank you."

Elena looked at me. "Luna, would you like me to check on you as well?"

I shook my head. "I am fine."

"Are you sure?" she asked.

"I am sure." I replied.

I did not want to take any time away from his recovery. He needed the attention more than I did, and I was not about to argue with Elena about it.

Kaelen looked at me, but he did not push. He kissed my lips softly, and I felt my face burn with heat.

I could feel the eyes of the healers on us, and I knew they were watching. It was still strange to me, having so many eyes on me, but Kaelen did not seem to care.

I was still not used to him showing affection to me in front of others.

He pulled back and smiled. "Let us go."

We walked to the courtyard together.

The air outside was cool, and I could smell the lingering smoke from the fires that had been set during the battle. The sky was gray, but it felt like the sun was trying to break through.

The courtyard was filled with wolves when we got there.

They stood in a circle, with their faces hard, and their eyes cold. Guards were dragging Serena forward, with her hands bound in chains. Her dress was torn, and her hair was wild. Her face was pale, and she looked nothing like the proud woman who had once looked down on me.

Kaelen sat in a chair that had been brought for him, and I sat in the chair that was placed beside his. He was still weak, but his presence commanded the crowd.

Serena was brought forward. She stood before the pack, with her head held high, but her hands were shaking.

Kaelen’s voice was low but firm. "You betrayed your pack. You gave our enemies information that could have destroyed us, and you tried to open the gate and let the rogues in. You have dishonored this pack, and you have cost us so much losses by your foolishness."

Serena looked at him, and her eyes were filled with hate. "I did it for you," she said. "I was supposed to be yours, Kaelen. I was supposed to be Luna."

Kaelen’s face did not change. "You chose your path. And now, you will face the consequences."

He looked at the pack. "Serena is banished from Shadowfang Pack. She will leave this territory and never return. If she is seen again, she will be killed on sight."

The wolves bowed their heads in acknowledgment.

Serena’s face crumbled, and she screamed and struggled against the guards who were grabbing her hands. "You cannot do this! I am part of this pack! You cannot banish me, Kaelen!"

No one spoke, and no one moved to help her, as the guards dragged her toward the gate.

Her voice was raw and broken, and the words she screamed were filled with so much hate. I watched her struggle, but I felt no satisfaction, only sadness.

She screamed curses and threats, but no one looked back.

The crowd was silent, and I could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on all of us. She had been one of us once, and now she was gone.

I watched her go, and I felt nothing but a hollow emptiness.

I had hated her for so long, but now, watching her being dragged away, I felt nothing but pity. She had let her jealousy consume her, and it had destroyed her.

Serena had thrown away everything for jealousy and revenge, and now, she would know what it felt like to be a rogue wolf that no body wanted.

The sound of the iron gate slamming shut echoed across the courtyard, and I knew that it was over. Serena was gone, and she would never return.

The gate closed behind her.

I turned to Kaelen, and I took his hand.

"Let us go back to the room," I said. "You need to rest."

He looked at me, and a small smile crossed his face. "I want to do more than rest with you," he whispered in to my ears.

His voice was low, and I could see the mischief in his eyes. Even after everything, he still knew how to make me blush.

I felt my face burn with heat, and I looked away. But I did not let go of his hand.

We walked back to our room together. The pack was silent behind us, and Serena was gone. The worst was over, but there was still so much to rebuild.

When we entered our room, I closed the door behind us, and Kaelen pulled me close.

I let myself sink into his embrace, and I felt the tension of the past few days finally begin to fade. We had been through so much, but we had made it.

I felt his arms around me, and I smiled.

We had survived, we were together, and we had each other.
