Chapter 57: what’s your emergency

After going through a back-and-forth process with my villain choices, I was able to convince them in one week. Now I have gone back towards my beginning.

There was this hero called Translucent, one of the most corrupted heroes you can find. The hero performs espionage, thievery, and any other scum act that your typical villain does. Even with all those similarities between himself and most villains, he still hunts villains down like they are doing something worse. A villain caught robbing a bank like he does will be executed. Enough about him, it’s his power that we need to talk about.

Once this hero activates his powers, he becomes somehow unseen to the normal eye. He becomes invisible. No attack could touch him again, but he can still relate with the world. He can keep on stealing, perform theft and all that, but you have no choice but to watch all those things disappear. After all, you can’t touch him. And this is the hero I want to kill today. But before I do that, I first want to play a game of tag with the hero.

I heard Vivian’s words from my earpiece.

"Why would I?"

All I have to do is a very simple something. I have to catch him by surprise. I have to hit him with a tracker so I can track him when he turns invisible. You may be wondering why I can’t just shoot him with a real bullet by surprise, instead of tracking him. The answer is simple: the guy can’t be killed when he’s normal. He can only be killed when he’s invisible. This is the kind of power that I gave the heroes. The kind of power that shows the superiority between both the heroes and villains.

I have to make sure that the plan goes accordingly. If not, I will have to switch to using Plan B. And Plan B is not the kind I feel good at doing.

I took a deep breath. I then activated my dark power. I then began to sink into the floor. In a matter of seconds, I had sunk into the shadow realm and was already reaching my destination.

A black hole opened up at a hidden corner in an apartment.

As soon as I came out, I saw the layout of the apartment I was in.

As I continued to look around, I heard a flushing sound. Soon, sounds of someone washing their hands. After some time, the door next to me was opened.

As soon as it was opened, I came face to face with the face of my target.

I immediately shot the tracking gun at him. And he himself did not waste any time. He quickly turned invisible, ghostlike, and then sank into the floor.

He must have just finished eating, I couldn’t help but think.

Things were still going as planned. He just entered the floor. He couldn’t have gone far. Plan A is still active.

"Vivian, is the tracking device giving you any read on him?"

I asked her to be sure, because we don’t know if his ability affects the tracker or not.

(Mr. Friesian, the tracking device is active. It worked.)

I was answered by Avery.

(Miss Vivian is busy trying to track his trajectory and location.)

(Friesian, he is at a distance of 650 meters.)

(Friesian, did you hear what I said? If you hear me, be fast before he moves farther from that distance.)

"I heard. I am already moving towards the location," I said, but I was still wondering how he reached that location in less than one minute.

I shadow-teleported to the roof, and I used my light ability to move fast. I remembered that I moved fast when I was fighting the statue.

I was moving fast, more faster than if I was using the shadow. The problem is just that using it drains more stamina from me than the shadows do. I get tired and weak faster after using this for some short time.

I flashed and flashed so much that I missed my destination by 100 meters. I switched to shadow-teleporting. I appeared in the midst of a crowd.

I believe this was Midway Street. The street that has the highest rate of corporate workers. Workers who are always rushing to work.

"Vivian, are you sure he’s here?"

(Yeah, I am sure. The tracker shows that he’s around here.)

People soon noticed my arrival. I too will be surprised if I saw a guy dressed in an aristocrat kind of white and black suit, while wearing a white almost full-face mask. I would also be surprised.

"Who’s that?"

"Darling, I think I know who he is. I can’t just remember."

A child’s voice then sounded.

"Mummy, look! It’s Lupingo."

"Yes, it’s Lupingo," the woman said to her husband. But after some seconds, she realized the word that came out from her mouth. And as soon as she realized, her face expression changed.

The expression of the other people in the surroundings also changed. Nobody knows who said the word "run," but everybody scattered and started running in different directions.

Instead of him feeling embarrassment for causing the ongoing chaos, he just smiled behind the mask and said, "Don’t run. I am not here for any of you. I am here for a different reason." But did that stop the people that have decided to run? The answer is a big no. It just motivated them to run faster. The chaos became worse. A lot of pushing and shuffling ensued in the chaos.

Lupingo did not know what to say again. He felt that if he says any more words to the crowd, that it will have an opposite effect. But luckily for him, due to the chaos of people scattering around, he saw his target.

He quickly carried the special gun, then shot the target, and immediately the target went underground again.

Seeing my target disappearing again, a vein couldn’t help but appear. I couldn’t help but wonder how resilient my target’s life is.

My target doesn’t understand the game of tag. He is hit, then he should stay dead. But if my target wants to continue, then it will.

"Alright, you are challenging me to a game of worldwide tag, right? Don’t worry, I will chase you until you end up dead," I said. I was already angry, so I would make sure he ends up dead in the race he wants to play.

Lupingo said and disappeared in a flash.

"555, Hero hotline. What’s your emergency?"

"Help! Help! Lupingo appeared in Midway Street and is causing large-scale chaos."

"Are you saying the villain Lupingo is causing mayhem at Midway Street? Caller, what are you doing right now?"

"I am busy running, ma’am."

"Caller, could you wait to describe the situation for me? Caller! Caller!"

The phone line went off after that. The call line has been deactivated.

(Always40drama- OMG, Lupingo shot a gun towards me, but the bullet did not touch me. What’s happening? Am I hallucinating?)

The target’s P.O.V

I don’t know what’s happening again. I came out from the toilet after shitting out the burritos I ate, and I immediately saw a villain in front of me. I did not even bother to ask him what he wants. I just turned incorporeal and disappeared. I felt that the villain shot something at me. I don’t know what it is, but I am perfectly okay. Maybe I missed it.

I went to a far side, in a place where people are plenty. A place where it will take time for them to find me. And it would even be hard to find me.

I wanted to look for a phone to call someone from the hero association to help me, but I left my phone at home. Maybe I could ask someone to lend me their phone to quickly make some calls.

Before I could do anything, the place I thought was safe turned into chaos. The crowds started to scatter. Everybody was running. I don’t know why they were running, but it didn’t take long for me to find the answer.

I saw Lupingo shoot something at me. Although I was in incorporeal mode, I still felt something hitting me. I don’t know what, but I don’t even care. I quickly disappeared from my location to another place farther from that location.
