Upon seeing the appearance of the white-robed man, Chao Yue immediately withdrew the Golden Sword into her hand and rapidly retreated.

However, the white-robed man relentlessly pursued her, continuously launching fourteen sword moves at Chao Yue. Although Chao Yue tried her best to block them, she still couldn’t deflect them all.

Seeing the situation instantly reversed, with their master falling into a disadvantageous position, Chao Yun immediately took out the Miniature Golden Sword from his bosom, and when it enlarged, he thrust it at the white-robed man.

But this member of the Devil Clan almost saw through Chao Yun’s intentions and sword moves, managing to fend off Chao Yun’s attacks even while battling Chao Yue.

A sharp Sword Qi struck toward Chao Yun like wind and thunder; Chao Yun held the Golden Sword in front of him to block it but still couldn’t dissolve the attack and was directly blown away by it.

After dealing with Chao Yun, the white-robed man focused entirely on Chao Yue. Watching as Chao Yue’s sword moves were broken one by one, his flaws were completely exposed to the white-robed man.

The white-robed man turned his longsword, preparing to take Chao Yue’s head with a single strike.

Silvery light appeared, and Ling Feng utilized the power of the Shadowless Needle to appear behind the white-robed man, stabbing straight at his spine with the Chaos Sword.

However, the white-robed man’s reaction was swift; he immediately retracted his sword moves, turning his body to block Ling Feng’s attack.

"Clang—"

The Chaos Sword and the longsword clashed against each other; the white-robed man felt his tiger’s mouth go numb from the shock and had to retreat.

Ling Feng also withdrew the Chaos Sword, standing in front of Chao Yue.

"Thank you, benefactor," Chao Yue said gratefully to Ling Feng, holding her injured chest.

Ling Feng simply waved his hand, appearing indifferent.

In fact, he really didn’t want to intervene; the moment the white-robed man appeared, he had activated his Divine Sense, discovering his identity as part of the Devil Clan.

Ling Feng was quite a tough character, a difficult opponent, so he was even less inclined to engage in a pointless fight, especially since he had no grudges with the Devil Clan. It was only upon seeing Chao Yue near death that Ling Feng decided to step in.

Moreover, Ling Feng knew that only he could save Chao Yue; if Jin Gang and Little Fei acted, they might not be able to stop him.

But Little Fei and Jin Gang still arrived beside Ling Feng, ensuring their master’s safety.

The white-robed man landed steadily, holding the sword with his left hand behind his back, its blade pointing skyward.

"Who are you? I have never seen you," the white-robed man said.

"It’s right that you haven’t seen me; I’m just an ordinary Human, not worth remembering by a powerful being of the Devil Clan," Ling Feng replied with a cheeky grin.

"I am not much of a powerful being; I am Jian Mu of the Devil Clan. What is your name, sir?"

"Ling Feng."

"Ling Feng, if you are an ordinary person, why are you here on the mountain today with these Taoists to kill my Devil Clan compatriots?" Jian Mu asked coldly.

Ling Feng shook his head: "I already explained to that big guy; since we came up the mountain, we haven’t killed a single Devil Beast, we’ve been framed by someone."

Jian Mu shook his head: "I have already checked the wounds on those corpses earlier; they are all caused by sharp swords, matching the weapons you three use. How do you explain that?"

"That’s because that person is very cunning..." Ling Feng responded impatiently.

"Benefactor Ling Feng, you can’t reason with these monsters," Chao Yue stepped up and said, "Anyway, today’s matter can’t be settled peacefully."

Chao Yue shouted at Jian Mu, "You can go report today’s situation to your Demon King. We’ve always acted uprightly; though we came up the mountain to punish your Devil Clan today, those Devil Beasts were indeed not killed by us!"

Jian Mu looked at Chao Yue with contempt: "A defeated general, when is it your turn to speak?"

Chao Yue was furious but could do nothing, knowing Jian Mu’s strength, he was certainly not his opponent.

If it weren’t for Ling Feng’s rescue, he would have been crushed by countless sword lights by now.

Ling Feng glanced at an abruptly angered and then suddenly dispirited Chao Yue, finding it odd. How could an old Taoist, cultivated for so many years, still have such a fiery temperament? It was so unlike the image of a serene Taoist.

"Hmph, cunning humans always have so much to say. Since we are both adamant in our views, neither being able to convince the other, I will not pursue today’s matter further..."

"But..." Jian Mu pondered.

Ling Feng’s eyes grew cold; he knew this fellow wasn’t going to let things go easily. His hand reached for the Chaos Sword Phantom beside him, ready for battle at any moment.

"Today my Devil Clan suffered greatly, almost all the Devil Clan on the mountain have perished, but your Human Race remains unscathed. That’s too easy for you, so you can leave today if you want."

"Leave the life of the old Taoist or the young Taoist behind." Jian Mu pointed at Chao Yun lying under a tree and Chao Yue standing ahead.

"What? Absolutely impossible!" Chao Yun shouted angrily, "Chao Yun is my disciple; if you want to harm him, you’ll have to step over my dead body first!"

Seeing Chao Yue’s reaction, Ling Feng furrowed his brow slightly.

Jian Mu chuckled lightly: "Come on, old Taoist, it’s just us here. Why are you still pretending to be so righteous? Have you forgotten what happened back then?"

"The little creek beside Dongqiao Village, that fisherman’s family, that rainy night..."

Chao Yue’s face changed, his lips quivered, but he couldn’t utter a word.

Ling Feng noticed the change in Chao Yue’s expression, his mind stirred. Could it really be a hidden past?

Jian Mu also saw the bewilderment in Chao Yue’s expression, laughing with satisfaction: "Haha, seems you haven’t forgotten, so, make a decision sooner. Will you stay or your disciple stay?"

"If you hesitate any longer, I can’t guarantee what I’ll say!" Jian Mu laughed softly.

Chao Yue clenched his fists, still hesitating.

Ling Feng watched Jian Mu, mentally grumbling: Damn, this Devil Beast, playing riddles. If there’s something, just say it, let everyone hear it. Otherwise, I feel like an idiot!

In the next moment, Chao Yue suddenly turned and moved rapidly to Chao Yun’s side, the Golden Sword suddenly appearing in his hand.

Then, under the astonished gazes of Ling Feng and Jian Mu, Chao Yue directly pierced Chao Yun’s chest, then reached in to retrieve something.

In the next moment, with the item in hand, Chao Yue darted into the forest, fleeing.

Chao Yun stared blankly at everything, disbelief written on his face, then suddenly fainted.

Ling Feng was equally shocked. Even someone as smart as him couldn’t figure out what just happened.

Chao Yue had actually gutted his own disciple alive?

Though Ling Feng was well-informed, he had never witnessed such a massive plot twist!

Only Jian Mu looked as if everything was going according to plan, laughing heartily to the sky: "Hahaha! All those years of master and disciple bonds are no match for the allure of the Time Artifact."

"What a pity for this kid, kept in the dark for so many years, never believing his own master would strike him so ruthlessly?"

Jian Mu’s gaze suddenly turned cold, then his body transformed into a white light, chasing in the direction of Chao Yue’s escape, his voice echoing across the mountains:

"Old Taoist, do you think you can still escape?"

Ling Feng finally snapped out of his shock, immediately running to the side of the dying Chao Yun, preparing to use the Shennong Medical Technique to save him.

But as waves of green light passed by, when Ling Feng carefully examined Chao Yun’s body to stop the bleeding, he was suddenly shocked:

Chao Yun’s heart was missing!
