Chapter 1313: The Power Pack Metacs.

The tempo of his speech entered a brief lull as he said, "Unfortunately, we have no way to confirm that conjecture. But we did confirm that, with our level of skill, we can’t copy the golden seed and create a version under our control. So we decided to create an alternative as you did."

"We hoped it would be something special and better than the current system of cultivation to entice mortals to join our sect and compete with the Gemini. But even if it isn’t stronger than the current cultivation system, we hoped we would be able to use it to gain lifespan from mortals."

"We succeeded in creating a cultivation system. Unfortunately, we’ve failed on both fronts of our objective," he said, shaking his head in shame.

"The cultivation system we created relies on something we call Power Packs. They are like Metacs, but they come prepackaged with instructions that will initiate evolution upon complete fusion."

Wandering Thief became excited again, talking about his invented cultivation system. Even though he said it was a failure, his eyes lit up with pride and excitement as he spoke about it.

"It works like this. The power packs come in different versions from Rank 1 to Rank 8. Any mortal who finds a Rank 1 version will be able to fuse with it by swallowing it."

"The Rank 1 version is like the Core Metac of the cultivation system. It will fuse with the Energy Well, and any mortal that fuses with it will automatically become a cultivator, skipping the need for awakening."

"If they want to advance to Rank 2, they will need to refine the Rank 1 version first and help it grow to the peak of Rank 1. Then they need to find and fuse with a Rank 2 version."

"The Rank 2 version is bigger than the Rank 1 version and will form a cocoon around it. So the Rank 1 version will be the foundation. It needs to have reached the peak, or it won’t be able to withstand the weight of the Rank 2 version."

"Cultivation at Rank 2 requires them to refine the Rank 2 version and help it grow to the peak of Rank 2. Then, to advance to Rank 3, they need a Rank 3 version and fuse with it."

"The Rank 3 version is stronger and bigger than the Rank 2 version. So it will settle upon and around the Rank 2 version, forming a cocoon around it."

Wandering Thief didn’t notice, but he raised his voice a little, and his words came out faster and faster, as if he was in a hurry to get everything he wanted to say out of his body.

His eyes were even brighter now, glowing like twin stars, as he said, "That makes three layers of Power Packs at Rank 3. As the cultivator advances, the mortals gain more layers of Power Packs."

"Each layer of Power Packs will raise their energy level, energy density, energy quantity, and basically their state of existence. This will continue to Rank 8, which is the limit."

"After they reach their limit, they have to combine all of the layers into a single three-dimensional structure. That three-dimensional structure is their Supreme Metac, which they can use to become Dao Lords."

Loki immediately began clapping as he said, "That’s impressive."

This was the first genuine emotion he had since this conversation started. He was truly impressed with what they had achieved.

He was even thinking, ’This is not bad at all.’

’They actually created a whole cultivation system that leads all the way to the Dao Lord level. These three brothers are really intelligent.’

’No, they are geniuses. No wonder they managed to create Cosmic Supreme Metacs while everyone else was struggling with Grand Supreme Metacs and the rest.’

Then he said, "What you’ve explained to me looks good so far. So what’s the problem?"

Wandering Thief seemed to deflate as he said, "The Power Packs lack any advantage over the current cultivation system."

"Forget about advantages. We don’t even match up to the current cultivation system in terms of perks."

"We don’t have Life Abilities, Divine Positions, Cave Heaven, and Life Fires. So mortals who use it won’t be able to increase their lifespan at all, even at Rank 6, and won’t be able to heal injuries with lifespan."

"They also can’t break the barriers between dimensions and travel through the third dimension. There are more disadvantages, but the worst one is that without Life Fires, we can’t extract lifespan from them with the Life Leech."

Sighing, he said, "To top it off, the Power Packs are expensive to make. A normal Rank 1 Core Metac needs 1 year of lifespan, but ours requires 10 years of lifespan."

"Therefore, even if no mortal sees any problem with our cultivation system and comes to join us en masse, we will at most be able to convert 100,000 of them before we give up."

"The cost also increases ten times with each rank-up. So the Rank 8 version will cost 100,000,000 years to create."

"All in all, from Rank 1 to Rank 8, we need to spend 111,111,110 years of lifespan to bring a single mortal up to Rank 8. We don’t even have that much lifespan, so we can’t use the cultivation system we created for mortals on ourselves."

"How ridiculous is this cultivation system?" he asked, finishing with a question.

"This is just the first iteration. I’m sure that with a little bit more effort and changes, you will make improvements," Loki said in encouragement.

"The first problem you need to fix is the cost. If you streamline the system, you can increase its efficiency."

"As for the issue of the lack of Life Fire, you only need to add a Divine Position into the layers at one point, probably at Rank 5, if the mortals will be strong enough to survive the transformation at that point," he said, making helpful suggestions.
