THE GOD EATER
Chapter 1142: Going For The Source.
His voice was buttery smooth like an experienced salesman as he said, "As you know, it takes a lot of effort to remove the remnant Will of the previous owner. Without the remnant will, you won’t have to waste time grinding away at the Supreme Metac. So no, I am not cheating you."
He thought his explanation was reasonable, but Tepid Scholar still snorted and said, "Hmmp."
This Dao Lord of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect was actually very interested in this exchange. He wanted to exchange the Death Supreme Metac that he bought early for something more compatible, like the Knowledge Supreme Metac.
When he was buying the avatar of the Death Pathway a few days ago, he knew that its compatibility with him would be poor. But he was unwilling to give up on the only available Cosmic Dao just like that.
Besides, even if it turned out that he couldn’t use it, he didn’t want anyone else to get it and use it. He definitely didn’t want Black Chain to regain it. So he decided to go ahead and purchase it.
But after a few days of trying to use the Death Cosmic Dao, he was starting to have buyer’s remorse. As it turned out, he truly was a scholar who preferred exploring the changes in heaven and earth through experimentation and research. He didn’t like the dark, gloomy study of death.
If he were to bear with his disgust and stick with the Death Cosmic Dao, he was sure that he would be able to fuse with it one day. He was sure of that because of his self-confidence in his talent. But he doubted he would ever like the Death Pathway.
And even if he managed to refine the Death Supreme Metac, he was sure that it would take a long time. He didn’t know how long it would take, but he was so sure that it would take far too long. This is why he wanted to change the Death Supreme Metac.
He wanted the Knowledge Supreme Metac instead of the Death Supreme Metac. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a Grand Dao or three Major Daos to make the exchange.
He had the Forging Supreme Metac, which he hadn’t fused with yet, but he wasn’t exactly willing to give it up for a compatible pathway. However, even if he was willing, the Forging Pathway was on the first list, so he couldn’t use the Forging Pathway to make the exchange.
The more he thought about his problem, the more agitated he became. He was frustrated as he thought, ’The Talisman Pathway, the Alchemy Pathway, and the Array Pathway aren’t on the list, though. But I definitely can’t remove them just to get a better Cosmic Dao.’
’Maybe I am being too picky about this. A Cosmic Dao is good no matter what kind it is. Especially something as powerful as the Death Pathway.’
While he was agonizing over the choices, Loki was still talking.
Loki said, whetting their appetite, "You can also exchange Grand Daos for Grand Daos, Major Daos for Major Daos, and Minor Daos for Minor Daos."
"You only need to add an extra Supreme Metac to facilitate the deal. And you have to make sure that at least one of the Supreme Metacs you’re offering is not part of the list."
They were already interested, but he still made another attempt to encourage and entice them, saying, "I will update the list as time goes on, so the sooner you make your exchange, the less restrictive your options will be."
At this point, everyone’s interest was piqued, especially Heavenly Eye, who was also interested in the Knowledge Pathway. But instead of asking about it, she sent a secret message to him, saying, "Where are you getting so many Cosmic Daos?"
"I’m sorry, but I am not at liberty to answer that question," he said with a smile.
But she was determined to bypass him and go straight to the source of his Supreme Metacs, so she said, "What are you hiding?"
"Why did you hide two of your pathways for so many years?" he asked her in return. "Let’s not ask ourselves why we hide things from each other when the answer is as clear as day."
But she didn’t stop. As if she didn’t hear him, she continued to say, Is it that you get the Supreme Metacs from the members of your Divine Court? Is this one of the benefits of being a Mountain Lord?"
"I wonder how the members of your Divine Court will feel when they find out that you can take their Supreme Metacs and sell them," she finished with a threat.
At this point, it mattered little if he was really capable of taking the Supreme Metacs of the members of Olympus. Without another Mountain Lord to confirm for him, if this matter were to spread out, many Dao Lords would be hesitant to join his Divine Court.
"It was a flimsy ploy, but I have no choice," she said with a smirk. "Now will you be reasonable, or do I have to come up with more ways to force you to behave?"
In reply, Loki said, "First of all, I am not a Mountain Lord. So your threat won’t work against me."
"Secondly, someone needs to lose their Supreme Metac to me or all of this would be hearsay. It would be an unfounded allegation that is unlikely to take hold."
"Thirdly, even if some people believe you for whatever reason that I am a Mountain Lord and can rob my Dao Lords of their Supreme Metac, all I need to do is swear that I didn’t do it and your case will fall apart."
Instead of being angry that her threat wouldn’t work, she said, "Is that so? I am glad to hear that."
"It seems you really don’t have the ability to steal Supreme Metacs from your Dao Lords. That’s one possible item off of the list. Now I am wondering where you really get the Supreme Metac."
