Chapter 11: Chapter 9: Talisman True Inheritance, Foundation Establishment Magic Corpse

[You killed a Qi Cultivation Stage Magic Corpse. Gained 80 Experience Points, Soul Crystal Fragment (White) *1]

[Current Experience Points: 9150]

[Talent Divine Techniques (32/100): Unawakened]

Lu Chen picked up the glowing motes scattered from the Magic Corpse he had just slain and turned to look at the Bronze Gate next to the body.

"Apart from the area behind this Bronze Gate, it seems I’ve completely explored the rest of this Earth Palace. There shouldn’t be any other Magic Corpses or Cyan Profound Puppets left outside," he thought.

Indeed, after paying the price of reviving hundreds of times, Lu Chen had finally cleared the entire Earth Palace. During this process, he had slain nearly a hundred Magic Corpses and a massive number of Cyan Profound Puppets.

It was also at this time that Lu Chen discovered Soul Crystal Fragments did not have a guaranteed drop rate; they were precious items that appeared on average only once every three Magic Corpses. This meant that if he wanted to gather enough Soul Crystal Fragments to awaken his talent, he would have to explore the Ancient Cultivator’s Tomb dungeon about two more times.

Even so, the nearly ten thousand Experience Points he currently held made the trip more than worthwhile. Not to mention, his combat experience and Skill Levels had both seen tremendous improvement along the way. Not only had Flowing Cloud Step and Water Dragon Roar upgraded to the Great Success level during his high-intensity battles with the Magic Corpses, but even his Sharpness Skill had broken through to a realm above Great Success.

This was also Lu Chen’s first time learning what lay beyond the realm of Great Success.

[Sharpness Skill (Max): Breaking Realm]

[Effect: Qi Transformation Blade, unstoppable by metal or stone.]

Unlike the Qianjin Power that could initially only coat his weapon briefly, once the Sharpness Skill reached Breaking Realm, Lu Chen felt that the original Magic had evolved into something resembling Divine Techniques. The skill bordered on divine communication. Now, not only could he attach Qianjin Power to any object, but he could even directly condense his own Spiritual Power to form a unique Qianjin Sword, achieving the level of a Qi Transformation Sword.

It was important to note that before reaching the Foundation Establishment Stage, let alone executing a Qi Transformation Sword, very few Cultivators could even manage Controlling Objects with Qi. This was because it required not only an extremely high level of control over a certain type of Spiritual Power but also an abundant reserve of it.

Although Lu Chen did not possess much Spiritual Power at the moment, his control over Gold Attribute Spiritual Power had reached a terrifyingly abnormal level. However, the Qi Transformation Sword was not incredibly useful to him right now; it could only be considered a way to diversify his ranged attacks.

In terms of sheer power, a Qi Transformation Sword was less reliable than imbuing a weapon with Qianjin Power and unleashing a Water Dragon Roar. After all, his Water Dragon Roar had reached the Great Success level. He could already generate fifty bursts of Vibration Power on his sword blade within a single second, and every ten bursts exponentially doubled the original power of his Swordsmanship. Fifty bursts of Vibration Power meant that Lu Chen’s Swordsmanship power was magnified by a full five times.

Coupled with the natural restraining effect the Purple Mist Divine Light had on Magic Corpses, Lu Chen was able to easily slaughter the tomb’s entities one by one.

A Qi Cultivation Fifth Level Magic Corpse possessed both the physique of a Body Cultivator and the Techniques of a Magic Cultivator. In terms of true Power, one usually had to estimate them a level or two higher. For Lu Chen to defeat them so effortlessly—even with his natural counter against them—proved that his current Power was truly not to be underestimated.

However, due to a lack of a frame of reference and the fact that all his current energy was focused on exploring the dungeon, Lu Chen simply didn’t realize how strong he actually was right now.

Outside the Bronze Gate of the Ancient Cultivator’s Tomb.

[Water Dragon Roar: Great Success 1/3000]

[Flowing Cloud Step: Great Success 1/4000]

"Water Dragon Roar and Flowing Cloud Step have both hit a bottleneck. It’s about time to explore that weird Bronze Gate," Lu Chen muttered.

He took a deep breath, then pushed open the Bronze Gate in front of him.

RUMBLE...

As the heavy Bronze Gate slowly opened, a dense, putrid stench instantly wafted out from within. The pungent smell made him subconsciously frown.

When he stepped inside and clearly saw the situation within the room, his pupils instantly shrank. It was a massive underground cavern, its perimeter completely lined with alcoves serving as graves. At a glance, there were over a hundred of these graves, meaning that at least a hundred Cyan Cloud Sect disciples were buried here.

However, all the graves were now utterly ruined, and many of the coffins inside the alcoves were smashed to pieces.

Right in the very center of the cavern lay a huge plaza. Upon the plaza, a strange man sat with his head bowed amidst a Corpse Mountain and Blood Sea. Though he looked like a man, he was actually another reanimated Magic Corpse.

This Magic Corpse had a head of white hair and an empty left sleeve. Several Broken Swords were stabbed into his shoulders, as if he had just been through an incredibly tragic and brutal battle. Despite merely sitting there with his head down, he still exerted an overwhelming sense of oppression onto Lu Chen.

Lu Chen had only ever felt this kind of sensation from the Foundation Establishment Stage Teachers at his school. This prompted a thought to pop into his mind: "Could the creature appearing before me be a Foundation Establishment Stage Magic Corpse?"

Driven by a hint of curiosity, Lu Chen checked the entity’s status panel.

[Foundation Establishment Stage Magic Corpse: Ye Chenglin (Severely Injured)]

[Description: Cyan Cloud True Inheritance, Mastery over Talismans, possesses less than a tenth of his Power when alive]

Staring at the panel, Lu Chen’s heart grew extremely heavy. A Foundation Establishment Stage Magic Corpse... Even if it possessed less than a tenth of its original Power, he had still hit the absolute jackpot.

At that moment, the Magic Corpse, Ye Chenglin, seemed to sense Lu Chen’s arrival. He lifted his head and looked at Lu Chen. His crimson eyes lacked the typical madness of an ordinary Magic Corpse, holding instead an indescribable emptiness and exhaustion.
