The Fragrance of My Hot Patients
Chapter 422
Although Chenyang was confident he could defeat Lin Jiji, he naturally wanted as much leverage and evidence as possible.
After all, Lin Jiji was a huge star—he had money, fans, and a considerable amount of influence.
The more leverage he had and the more solid the evidence, the more thoroughly he could eliminate all his problems.
Otherwise, the slightest misstep could leave an opening for criticism, giving Lin Jiji’s fans an opportunity to cause trouble.
So when he heard that Lin Yongkun had found an important recording related to the incident, he was quite expectant and curious.
But just as he looked over eagerly, the other man suddenly changed the subject.
This act of leaving him in suspense was truly irritating.
But he knew these officials enjoyed doing this sort of thing. Besides, he knew Lin Yongkun, but he wasn’t familiar with Vice Mayor Zhang. If the recording had been provided by the Vice Mayor, he probably wouldn’t hand it over so easily until Chenyang answered his questions.
Resigned, he could only nod and say, “Go ahead and ask.”
Lin Yongkun asked, “You clearly have the evidence and leverage to refute Lin Jiji, so why haven’t you used any of it from the beginning until now?”
Chenyang replied meaningfully, “Have you two seen ‘Let the Bullets Fly’?”
Lin Yongkun and Zhang Hongtu exchanged a look, first nodding, then asking, “Are you saying now isn’t the right time to present your evidence?”
“Correct. We have to let the bullets fly for a while.”
Zhang Hongtu frowned. “How much longer do they need to fly? Let me tell you, the situation is extremely unfavorable for you right now. If you don’t produce something soon, even if we still want to help you, we’ll have to arrest you for the time being.”
“Well…”
Just as a hesitant look crossed Chenyang’s face, he suddenly saw Liu Yue, not far away, quietly flash him an “OK” sign.
The reason he hadn’t rushed to counterattack was that he was waiting for Liu Yue’s signal.
Lin Jiji was no ordinary person. Resolving this trouble and retaliating against him was not going to be easy.
The media company needed time to sort through the evidence against Lin Jiji that Liu Yue provided, prepare the copy for certain information, and arrange many necessary things online.
On Liu Yue’s end, she also had to make certain preparations to ensure she wouldn’t be implicated afterward.
All of these things took time.
And that time was the time for the bullets to fly.
Now that Liu Yue had given him the signal, it meant the time had come!
At this thought, the corners of Chenyang’s mouth lifted, and he said slowly, word by word, “There’s no need to wait any longer. The bullets have already landed.”
Hearing this, Lin Yongkun’s eyes immediately lit up. “Oh? Can you let us know first what’s hidden inside these bullets of yours?”
“You’ll find out in a little while.”
“You brat, still keeping us in suspense.”
“I’m just following the example you two set.”
“I…” Lin Yongkun’s old face flushed at the retort. He pursed his lips and said, “About that recording I just mentioned, I had someone get it from the Traffic Police Accident Division. It seems to have been recorded by a car’s dashcam. A segment of the conversation inside happens to be from when you were rescuing Lin Jiji and Xiaoyue.”
Hearing this, Chenyang’s head shot up. “Does it have everything Lin Jiji said?”
“Yes! It even includes him saying he was going to get revenge on you later.”
“Excellent!”
As he spoke, a look of immense joy spread across Chenyang’s face.
The evidence provided by Liu Yue, along with the leverage he had gathered from other sources, could only prove that he wasn’t a mooch or a predator. It could only expose Lin Jiji’s hypocrisy and show the public and his fans his ugly, true side.
However, he previously had no evidence regarding the fact that he had saved Lin Jiji at the car accident scene, nor that Lin Jiji had said Lin Xiaoyue was about to die and didn’t need saving.
Although this point wouldn’t need to be proven once Lin Jiji’s conspiracy was exposed, Chenyang was a perfectionist. If he could wash away every single stain on his name at once, that would naturally be for the best.
With this recording, everything could be made clear.
Furthermore, he could finally vent all the frustration he had endured because of Lin Xiaoyue!
Thinking of this, Chenyang looked at Lin Yongkun. “I need a chance to speak!”
“No problem,” Lin Yongkun agreed instantly.
But Zhang Hongtu frowned and said, “We can give you a chance to speak, but I need to be certain that everything you say and do next will be backed by solid evidence…”
