The First Legendary Beast Master
Chapter 2040: The Difference Between Them
The first round of pills was only the start of the day’s plans, though it was already a huge accomplishment for the ones who had managed to form their Immortal Spirit.
That final step, where the spirit was fully formed, was a life-saving difference for a new Immortal, and the standard for taking on real missions.
In the Darklight Host, that was a smaller change, as most of them were working inside the Guild anyhow, not going out hunting for resources. But the status change, and the quality of the work that they created was clearly an improvement.
"Before anyone goes anywhere, we have a second product to test. A potion that improves immortal spirit strength. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime option, nobody can use it twice. However, we have a theory that it might work for all Immortals, so I will ask that the Elder come join the group," Andrea requested.
She was a Supreme-Ranked Alchemist, and Elder Xiao Bai was reluctant to turn her down, even if she was suspicious of all things Remi created.
"Fine, I will join in on the test, but if I’m injured, I expect compensation."
Andrea laughed, "That’s the spirit. Now, please join the test group, and our first batch can move back to verify their own power advancement. We won’t test them twice before they have confirmed their gains.
However, if the gains from both are sufficient, we will begin mass production of these resources.
They’re not cheap at retail, but they’re made in house, so discounts apply."
The Succubus winked at the bunnies, who she knew would tell all their friends if the potions worked well enough. Remi never charged the bunnies to begin with, as they were her favourite test subjects. And Andrea rarely charged them because they were bunnies, and they made the cutest pleading faces when they needed something.
Thor frowned as he realized what was going on, but Remi was already pouring potions into the upturned mouths of his children, and then the bunnies, who thought that the scene was too funny not to do it themselves.
Remi was a Naga, with a snake’s lower body, so she had no problem adjusting her height to stand over the bunnies and pour the small potion doses into their mouth as if it were a shot of rum.
The only one who took the potion herself was Elder Xiao Bai, who accepted the potion and carefully sniffed it before drinking it.
Remi knew that the sniff was actually an excuse to examine it with her skills, checking for any information that the system would offer ahead of ingestion. But it didn’t list any side effects for her either, and Remi clapped happily as the last of her test subjects downed the potion.
Their Immortal Spirits were growing by the second, not in formation progress, and not toward transformation into the Void Immortal Realm.
It was pure spirit strength, which would help with spell and skill strength, as well as mental fortitude. That was an entirely different sort of benefit than the first pill, and not quite what they had been hoping for when they made it.
But it was no less valuable.
Adding spirit strength was a huge gain, a type of growth that was rarely seen, and usually tied to potential. Spirit enhancement potions were exceptionally valuable, even more than the growth potion, and the hatchlings were getting an incredibly large boost from it.
Perhaps because they were young, or because they had so much innate potential. But their growth was three times what the Elder and the Bunnies received.
"{ Interesting. The gains seem to be largest for the young ones. We will have to do more testing to see if that is a beast issue, or an age issue. But we can’t test on the first group again, as we need to wait and see where their powers settle a week after the first pill.
Some recipes cause continual growth with effort.
Elder, can we keep them for a few weeks? Just until we’re done our testing, and then I’ll give them back, I promise. I’ll even make them do their schoolwork.}"
Elder Xiao Bai smiled at the Naga. That was an excellent offer. In fact, it would save her from having to find someone to babysit her rambunctious daughter for two whole weeks.
"I will inform the other parents that their children are in an intense training session with the Darklight Host, and that they will be back in two weeks. Just be sure that they have something to show for it," she agreed.
"{ No problem, Elder. We will have the constructs and the Jackalopes train them as hard as we can, to see if they grow faster than usual after the potions. You won’t be disappointed. }"
The Elder smiled, while Elder Socrate laughed quietly. He knew that the Forest Stalker and her cat gave the Elder no end of headaches with their shenanigans. Now, Remi had just volunteered them to babysit not only Anilla and Shade but the rest of her friend group for two weeks.
Every one of their parents would celebrate the time off.
But before the Elder could leave, Remi had questions.
"{ How is your Skill Power looking? I can feel the upgrade in your soul power, but if you’ve got raw data numbers, I want them for my records. I need to know how much it helps an Elder, since it’s a one-time use potion. }"
"Alright, I have full numbers here, including the System Messages from when I drank the potion. I will get them all to you before I return to work for the day." Xiao Bai agreed.
That was everything that Remi had hoped for.
All the data, and no reported side effects. They would have to be careful about giving this to fire element members of the Guild, but other than that, it looked safe enough for general use.
Which meant that she could start making more batches for the members, so that they all got the good stuff first.
