The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard
Chapter 2946: Wasn’t This Kid Supposed to Be a Troublemaker?
When the two giant ships arrived at the outer camp of the War God Mansion, looking down from above, the entire sky above the War God Mansion was filled with countless cultivators flying past, and at the ultimate defensive line further ahead, soldiers had already been stationed densely.
The entire War God Mansion had operated completely like a giant war machine, efficient and terrifying.
In the wilderness, gigantic camps occupied a thousand-mile radius one after another.
Apart from all the official members of the ten legions who had returned, there were countless reserves undergoing various temporary training sessions before the war.
A million immortals from the ten legions were not the limit of this battle, but the gigantic battlefield between the passage and the defensive line could only accommodate so many people to engage in combat.
Once heavy casualties appeared within the legions, personnel from the rear reserves would replenish them, stabilizing the legion at a million strong; only with this many immortals could they possibly withstand the opponent’s assault.
The rest was simply annihilation, with constant deaths on the battlefield and continuous replenishment of troops, thus preventing the defensive line from being breached or broken, keeping all demons outside of the defensive line.
The giant ship arrived at the First Legion’s base, and according to instructions, it stopped on an open ground before everyone lined up to enter the division area of the Ninth Battalion.
The disciples of the Majestic Sect were led to their base to settle, while Carson Flores brought Carradine to the Ninth Battalion Command Center.
As subordinates, having returned to the ranks, they naturally had to report to their superior and then receive the next military orders; this was the rule.
Carson Flores, who had served many years in the military in the Mortal Realm, was naturally familiar with this, so upon arrival, he proactively reported, as the superior was none other than Theron Coffey, Cyras Roth’s uncle!
The military camp adhered strictly to military law, and if he arrived casually without reporting, the label of being lawless would surely be placed upon him.
At the command center entrance, Carson Flores took out the token, reported his identity, and soon both were led into the command center.
Carson Flores was accompanied by Carradine, the Enforcement Hall Master, who during wartime served as the deputy leader in charge of military law, and was well-versed in military rules and regulations, so Carson Flores brought her along to avoid any oversights.
After all, though he had served in the military for many years and led troops, it was all in the Mortal Realm, and although military laws and regulations might be similar everywhere, there were bound to be differences.
Inside the command center, Ninth Battalion Leader Theron Coffey was chatting with two small team leaders; when they saw Carson Flores entering, they stopped their conversation and their gaze rested on Carson Flores.
Carson Flores glanced at the War God Badge on the chests of the three, confirming that the person in the middle was Theron Coffey.
Carson Flores stopped, raised his hand to his chest, saluting in the War God Mansion manner, and said loudly, "First Legion Ninth Battalion Haoran Team Leader Carson Flores, leading the Haoran Team of a thousand to report, requesting instructions from the leader!"
Theron Coffey had a middle-aged appearance, with a somewhat gloomy demeanor. He scrutinized Carson Flores, his gaze slightly surprised.
Of course, he knew about Cyras Roth being publicly challenged by Carson Flores on the street, being forced to make way, utterly losing face. He had thoroughly understood the ins and outs of the whole affair.
Despite Carson’s young age, he disrupted the demon race’s plans, achieved great merit, and issued public challenges in the military supply offices and on city streets, with an attitude so defiant that even top figures couldn’t escape his challenges. These matters gave Theron Coffey the first impression of Carson as arrogant!
This young man, exhibiting such arrogance after achieving great merit and being personally appointed by the Hall Master, respected no one, gave face to no one; if this arrogance continued into the Ninth Battalion, wouldn’t he even dare to challenge his superior?
Now, when Carson Flores had just arrived at the camp, he came to report in an orderly manner, requesting orders without showing any arrogance, leaving Theron Coffey taken aback.
Because the scenario he had anticipated hadn’t occurred at all, leading to his pre-planned methods of intimidation being entirely useless.
The man followed military orders, arrived within the allotted time, and reported to request instructions as soon as he arrived, with no fault in his operations; how could one pick faults?
Saying the reporting voice was too soft, or perhaps too loud, or neither?
Theron Coffey nodded, "Carson Flores, is it? This is our first meeting."
Carson Flores answered straightforwardly, "Yes, Leader!"
Theron Coffey paused for two seconds before asking, "How is the Haoran Team?"
Carson Flores, as Sect Master, naturally had to be familiar with his subordinates, and having done his homework, he responded without hesitation, "Haoran Team has returned in full force with a thousand and six people, including twelve at the Great Land Prime Immortal level..."
The data, which Carson had memorized long ago, was reported in a crisp and efficient manner, causing Theron Coffey to raise an eyebrow in approval.
Carson Flores had indeed put in effort!
Every action and word was highly qualified. Although Theron Coffey intended to pick faults, he couldn’t find any.
Theron Coffey glanced at Carradine standing behind Carson Flores, thinking to himself that this young man didn’t bring Deputy Sect Master Nerys Roth, but rather Carradine in charge of military law, clearly guarding against him.
Theron Coffey didn’t believe Carson didn’t know about his relationship with Cyras Roth, but such matters wouldn’t be spoken of publicly.
"Alright, got it."
Theron Coffey responded calmly, gesturing to the two beside him, "This is First Team Leader Valdrin Gross, and Fourth Team Leader Dorian Roth. It’s your first time here, get familiar with everyone, it’ll be easier to look out for each other on the battlefield."
Carson Flores nodded, greeting Valdrin Gross and Dorian Roth, but internally wasn’t planning on engaging them deeply.
Being in the military camp, he couldn’t remain aloof, but the fact that these two team leaders could sit so casually next to Theron Coffey, chatting at ease, made it apparent they were trusted confidants of Theron Coffey.
Seeing Carson Flores behaving appropriately in every action and word, leaving no room for error, Theron Coffey gave up on the idea of causing trouble today to assert dominance and smiled, "Now that you’ve rejoined, it’s wartime management, so don’t run around haphazardly. As for military regulations, if you’re unsure, you can ask Carradine."
Carson Flores nodded, "Yes, Leader!"
Theron Coffey waved a hand, "Since it’s your first time here, get settled first. If you have any issues, feel free to come to the command center to find me. If I’m not around, you can leave a message with my guard."
"Yes!"
Carson Flores saluted and left the command center with Carradine.
Watching the door close, Valdrin Gross started laughing, "Wasn’t it said that the kid was a troublemaker? How come he looks so well-behaved?"
Dorian Roth chuckled, "I bet they did their homework, knew about the relationship between the leader and Cyras Roth, and were afraid of getting caught in a bind, so they’re behaving so well..."
Nerys Roth’s face showed a faint smile, "It doesn’t quite match my understanding, but it doesn’t matter."
Valdrin Gross and Dorian Roth exchanged a glance, with Valdrin Gross giggling, "Leader, how about I stir things up a bit, mess with him a little?"
Theron Coffey shook his head, "He’s a hero with great merits, and the Hall Master is reportedly very concerned about him. Spare the small tricks to avoid gossip. Since the Immortal Demon Passage has opened, let’s have them patrol, rightfully and lawfully..."
