Chapter 2929: Anyone Can Be a Hero—How Can the Present Judge the Future?

  • Next Chapter

Immortal Demon Passage permanently open?

Wouldn’t that mean the war between the Demon Realm and Immortal Realm will expand without limit, never ending?

This is not a battle between the Human Race and Demon Race of the Barbaric Wilderness Realm; it’s a conflict between realms, determining the fate of billions of immortals and countless ordinary humans!

If the Immortal Realm fails and the Demon Race occupies it, immortals will be slaughtered, forced to either submit or die, while ordinary humans will become the lowest of slaves, enslaved by the Demon Race.

Carson Flores thought of the possible scenario, his mood turning exceedingly heavy.

Carson Flores suddenly came back to his senses. Why did Norric tell him about such an important matter?

Who am I?

Merely a Great Land Immortal of average strength, does it warrant sharing such significant matters with me?

Carson Flores boldly voiced his doubt: "Hall Master, why tell me, a mere nobody, about such vital issues?"

Norric smiled: "The times make heroes; in the tide of the era, everyone is small, yet anyone might become a hero. How can we judge the future based on the present?"

Norric gazed at Carson Flores: "Do you believe in destiny?"

Carson Flores shook his head: "It’s profound. I believe it exists, but I can’t articulate why."

Norric laughed lightly: "By chance and coincidence, you unlocked the Sword Talisman containing Crimson Mad, leading to our encounter. I ask you, if I hadn’t invited you to the Crimson Immortal Domain, would you have come, would you have gone to the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain? Or perhaps, would you have gone to the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain at the right time?"

Carson Flores answered honestly: "I stirred some trouble in the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain, so I fled to the Crimson Immortal Domain to seek refuge. Without your invitation back then, I might have gone to the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain, but later, surely missing the time the Demon Race set up the Teleportation Array..."

He paused, then questioned doubtfully: "Hall Master, it’s said you excel at divination and predicting the future. Did you foresee all this?"

Norric shook his head: "If I foresaw the Demons in the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain, I’d have informed the Book Sea Pavilion long ago to prepare thoroughly and catch them in a trap."

"Whether divination or predicting the future, what you see are scattered fragments. If lucky, these fragments might help confirm some things; if unlucky, you gain nothing but some subtle perceptions."

"When suppressing Crimson Mad, a divination told me vaguely that the one who would unlock it is someone destined to be involved with the Immortal Demon War, but the nature of that connection was unclear."

"Even after meeting you and casting another divination, the results remained vague, but reaffirmed that your future is linked to this place."

"Whether this link is inevitable, should be, or is a shift in destiny, I am uncertain. I just feel that since the divination says so, we’ll wait and see. Years later, you uncovered the Demon Race’s smuggling plan in the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain, saving it and countless lives in the Immortal Realm."

"Perhaps, this is destiny; you and I are all under its domain."

Carson Flores was silent for a few seconds: "Can no one break destiny and rise above? Not even the Immortal Emperor?"

Norric laughed: "Destiny exists eternally. Even Saints cannot escape, but they can know destiny and even alter it. That is not something we Quasi-Saints can achieve."

Carson Flores curiously asked: "The Immortal Demon battles have happened twenty-seven times. The Demons must also have Saints, right? Haven’t the Saints intervened, or the Immortal Emperor?"

"Of course, not just once."

Norric replied: "Soldiers have soldiers as opponents, generals have generals, commanders have commanders, and the Immortal Emperor and Demon Emperor have clashed in Outer Heaven multiple times, still unresolved. If not, the battle over the Immortal Demon Passage would have ceased long ago."

Carson Flores blinked: "Outer Heaven?"

Norric laughed: "A Saint’s wave can destroy the heavens and the earth, causing continents to collapse. If they fought in the Crimson Immortal Domain, wouldn’t it shatter the entire Immortal Domain?"

"Mighty immortals might escape to other domains amidst such disasters, but what about countless ordinary humans in the Crimson Immortal Domain; wouldn’t they be wiped out completely?"

Carson Flores curiously asked: "Aren’t the Demons aiming to conquer the Crimson Immortal Domain? Why doesn’t the Demon Emperor set the battlefield in the Crimson Immortal Domain directly?"

Norric calmly answered: "With the Immortal Demon Passage open, the Demon Emperor can wreak havoc in the Crimson Immortal Domain just as the Immortal Emperor can in the Demon Realm. If they engage in killing and destruction recklessly, it benefits neither, only pushes things to a more extreme end."

"The Demon Race attacking the Immortal Realm seeks resources and complete domination, not sheer annihilation..."
