The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 2904: Accepting Bribes Is Unacceptable—I’ll Handle This!

  • Next Chapter

Carson Flores heard up to this point and had a rough understanding.

The crying child gets the milk, and the child with a background who cries can eat as much as they want. The Majestic Sect, this unfortunate poor child, doesn’t even have a Sect Master anymore, and likely has no significant background, so they’ve been bullied.

When asked, it’s resource scarcity. It’s not that they won’t give it to you, it’s just that they can’t give it for now. When asked when they can give it, it’s just three words: wait for it!

Such things happen everywhere. Carson thought for a moment, "Are there still many things that haven’t been retrieved?"

The Deputy Sect Master, Jarett Roth, nodded with a guilty face, "Yes, I’ve been there twice for this matter. Each time, they said the same thing. Although we are unwilling, we don’t dare to make a scene, after all, that’s the War God Mansion."

"When the Sect Master was still around, at least he knew a couple of people. After the Sect Master’s death, it’s like we’re children nobody wants..."

Carson waved his hand, stopping Jarett Roth from continuing, "No need to say more. Whatever is missing, if the relevant people are free later, they’ll go with me to the War God Mansion. Since the application has been approved, the items should be retrieved."

Everyone’s eyes were intently fixed on Carson’s face, filled with excitement, hope, and worry.

Carson roughly understood what everyone was thinking and smiled, "These are things we deserve. Bringing them back isn’t justified? If they truly don’t give them, I’ll go to the Hall Master. Can they abuse their power without consequences?"

Carson paused for a moment, then added, "Regardless of what I do after seeing the Hall Master, I will ensure to get these things back for you."

Carradine, the Enforcement Hall Master, asked worriedly, "This matter is significant to us, but for the Hall Master, it might be trivial. If you disturb him with this, would it implicate the Sect Master?"

Carson understood that Carradine was worried about implicating himself.

As he had just said, he didn’t have a deep connection with Norric, this being their first meeting. If he troubles Norric with a trivial matter, wouldn’t it be somewhat embarrassing?

What if the Hall Master gets annoyed and ends up disliking Carson?

Carson chuckled, stopping the agreeing Yackey Decker, Boyd, and others, "It is indeed a small matter, but it’s also not small. If things were to continue like this below, wouldn’t it eventually disrupt the army’s morale?"

"With the great war imminent, such unhealthy trends should be curbed; otherwise, they would lead to a disaster sooner or later. You said this trend has already become quite severe?"

Everyone around the table looked at each other, showing some uneasy expressions. Based on Carson’s words, it seemed like he intended to cause some trouble.

Jarett Roth pondered for two seconds and said, "The place we claim various supplies from is called the Military Supply Office. It’s quite large, divided into five sections, each managing different supplies. For instance, magical treasures and refining materials are managed by Section Two, while elixirs and medical materials are managed by Section Three. Comparatively speaking, Section Three is a bit better, allowing us to at least get half of what we need. However, Section Two is rather chaotic..."

Carson laughed, "Does someone with a background manage Section Two?"

Jarett Roth laughed bitterly, "Yes, apparently, the head of Section Two is a relative from the side of the First Legion’s Army Commander’s wife..."

Carson realized, "The Army Commander seems to hold significant power?"

Jarett Roth explained, "The War God Temple divides all its forces into ten legions, directly commanded by Norric during wartime, comparable to a Great General. During peacetime, they’re equivalent to vassals, wielding considerable power."

Carson contemplated and asked, "Are the ten Army Commanders Quasi-Saints?"

Jarett Roth nodded, "Yes!"

Carson nodded, roughly having a plan, and smiled, "That’s impressive, not someone to provoke. Anyway, we’re just going to get the supplies. As long as we get the supplies, we won’t worry about anything else. After all, we’re just small players."

Someone couldn’t help but ask, "What if they still don’t give it?"

Carson shrugged, "Adapt to the situation. As long as we handle matters by the book and don’t give them an excuse, if they’re unreasonable, I’ll go complain to the Hall Master. Even if they have someone powerful backing them, surely they’re not entirely unafraid of being reported to the Hall Master?"

Upon considering, everyone felt that made sense.

Previously, they couldn’t get the supplies because they didn’t bribe properly, and there was no one above to support them, so the matter was put off. But now they have someone above them—Carson, after all, was personally appointed by the Hall Master and favored by him. If they still don’t give, aren’t they afraid I’ll directly report them to the Hall Master?

Everyone suddenly felt a touch of excitement. After all, this issue is the biggest challenge facing the Majestic Sect at present, with everyone running out of ideas for a while. As the Immortal Demon War approached with no supplies to arm themselves in advance, if a real war broke out, would they just go to die?

Everyone looked at Carson with undisguised gratitude. It was only Carson’s first day here, and right away, he tackled the toughest matter without any evasion.

This Sect Master seems quite remarkable!

If he can manage to resolve this issue, then probably no one within the Majestic Sect would have doubts or opposition anymore, right?
