The Extra who regained his past life memories
Chapter 181 - pay back 1
I waited until she checked the drug. Various possibilities flashed through my head, each of them like poison, paralysis, and many more.
Each possibility flashed through my eyes, making my eyes colder.
Luna just touched my shoulder and said, "Calm down, Gray..."
But her voice didn’t have much certainty either because if she saw someone do that to her sister, she wasn’t going to calm down until tearing that person apart by herself.
I just nodded at her, and finally, Aunt Evelyn came with the results. Her face was grim.
My heart sank, and intense rage boiled up inside me. I asked, "What is the result?"
There was no warmth in my voice. It was laced with frost.
She looked at my emotionless, cold eyes. Even she was frightened by them, not because she hadn’t seen this kind of cold look before, but because of my age.
She said, "Don’t do anything rash. Just let this matter be handled by your mother. I know her. She won’t let go of anyone who tries to hurt her children."
I nodded and asked, "Okay, I’ll let the rest be handled by her. Can you tell me what that poison or drug is?"
She hesitated a little and replied, "It’s a drug to intensify someone’s desires. This is mostly used..."
I didn’t need any more words from her. My gaze moved to that trash, and I saw Amy had already drunk her juice, and he went to talk to her about something.
I asked Aunt Evelyn, "Can you give me the remains of that drug?"
She blinked and pointed at the dark cup.
I nodded, and she just gave it to me. I saw that trash ask Amy about something. With that drug in my possession, I went to his side and put it in my storage.
Luna followed me. She was disgusted by his actions and angry too, so she followed me.
And I heard him ask, "Cousin Amy, can you do me a favor?"
Amy, after a big conversation with Elena, nodded. "Oh, it’s been a while, Lucas. What can I do for you? How about we have a duel to test our edge? We didn’t duel in years. You are one of the people who could match me in the past."
He smiled and put on an honest smile and asked with some hesitation, "Can I talk to you in private? It’s an important thing."
Amy looked at him for a moment, and after a little thought, she decided to agree.
I got a few pieces of the main information from that conversation.
’First, he is stronger than me. That means he can fight Amy as an equal.’
’Second, Amy has somewhat good expression on this bastard.’
Then my eyes narrowed. No matter how arrogant I am, I know I can’t beat someone at Amy’s level, so I looked at Luna.
She wanted to go and confront him, but because I stopped her, she waited for me to act.
"Hey, Luna. If you follow Amy, I’ll come in a bit."
She got confused and nodded. She didn’t ask where I was going.
I searched the banquet hall and finally found Astrid. She was the most suitable person.
I used a simple Blink on her.
She, of course, sensed my spatial movement, and as soon as I appeared beside her, she was already looking at me with amusement.
"Oh, little Gray, why are you teleporting around the banquet? Are the girls chasing you or something because of how cute you are?"
I didn’t laugh. I just looked at her and said, "Astrid, it’s something important. I need your help."
Her amusement faded as she saw my coldness. She knew this look.
So she excused herself and came with me, no questions asked. I used my Perception to locate Luna and went to her side, and we all followed Amy and Lucas.
Astrid asked for details, and Luna filled her in. Her anger manifested as well. She looked at Lucas like a dead person.
Then Astrid asked me, "What are you going to do, Gray?"
I said, "I need to understand the situation first before doing anything, but I won’t kill him no matter what."
Astrid looked at me, surprised, and asked, "Are you worried about the consequences?"
She knew I had the mindset to kill if it came to it, so she didn’t think I wouldn’t kill because I was afraid of killing or disgusted by it.
Then my cold face broke into a cold smile. "Consequences? What’s that, Astrid? When have I ever considered those when a matter connects to my family?"
"I don’t kill him because killing is just too good for him."
Astrid smiled at that. After all, she was a Starlight, a family stabilized by power and dominance. No matter how warm the inside of the family was, the truth stood in the end: we were ruthless.
Luna just tagged along. She wasn’t bothered by it in the least. She was a princess; she knew the dark side of the political system and people.
Her family was extremely protective of her, so they taught her everything from a young age. They didn’t think, ’Oh, my little baby needs to be kept away from the cruel side of society.’ They taught her everything so she could be protected by them.
It’s a fact: fragile things, no matter how much you protect them, can crumble in one moment.
Luna was wondering what we were going to do to that person.
Then Lucas finally stopped at a point. I used Perception everywhere to see if there was anything else.
But he looked in our direction and pointed out, "Hey, you hiding rats, come out."
Amy noticed the following presence too. She just stayed silent because she had full confidence in herself.
But once he noticed us, there was no point hiding anymore.
As soon as we came out, Amy saw me. "Gray, what are you doing here? Astrid too?"
I walked toward them with an extremely cold expression. Luna and Astrid followed us.
Lucas looked at me, surprised as well. Then he looked at Amy and asked, "Isn’t that your brother?"
Amy nodded.
Then I spoke. "Astrid captured him."
I used a Space Barrier to block any sound from escaping here.
His eyes widened, but the next moment, Astrid didn’t move. She just said, "Done."
I blinked and sensed mana itself materializing and holding him still.
I looked at that in surprise for a moment, but I ignored it for now.
Amy looked very confused. She asked, "Gray, Astrid, what’s going on? Luna, what are they doing?"
I looked at Amy and said, "Amy, this bastard tried to drug you, and you know the rest."
Her eyes widened, and Lucas’s eyes widened as well. Terror began to form, but he immediately hid it and began to act like I had made things up to frame him.
He spoke. He couldn’t move a muscle in his body, only his mouth. "What are you talking about? Don’t talk bullshit."
Amy looked at me, her eyes widening. "Explain, Gray."
So I sighed and said with the same cold expression, "After that situation with that green tea man, I went to eat dessert with Luna."
"I’m extremely bored at the banquet, so I started a conversation with Luna and looked around and saw this bastard add something to your intended glass."
Amy’s eyes went cold, but she kept listening. She needed to understand the full situation before coming to any conclusions.
So I continued, "So I found a similar glass and swapped it with yours by teleportation."
"Then I brought that glass to Aunt Evelyn and tested what’s in it. After I got the news, it’s a drug to intensify that."
"I came to you at that moment. He was talking to you, asking to talk in private. Normally, it wouldn’t work, but you agreed surprisingly, so I went and brought Astrid and came here."
Amy listened to everything, her expression dropping with each revelation.
She looked at Lucas, her bright red eyes poured down to him. She didn’t ask, ’Is what Gray is telling the truth?’ She knew I wasn’t going to lie about these kinds of things.
She asked, "Why did you do it?"
Lucas desperately tried to deny the accusation.
But Amy just looked at him with coldness, just like looking at a joke, an ant.
Then he understood he was cornered. He never hoped to get out from here after Astrid came in. And as for convincing Amy, at one look, he could tell that wasn’t going to work here.
Amy was an intelligent person. He couldn’t fool her. The only chance he had was the past connection they had as fighting partners.
And he also knew she didn’t give a shit about the past or anything, so he decided to come out and confront her with his real self.
Not the polite mask he wore.
