The Exiled Lord: My Maid is a Battle Goddess
Chapter 455: Frenita
"I don’t have any orders."
Frenita rested her chin on her hand. "I just came here to look around, but since I’m already here..."
"As a reward for your loyalty, I’ll be joining this battle with my subordinates." Frenita licked her lips, then stretched out her snow white, boneless arms and wrapped them around herself. "Just thinking about being able to kill to my heart’s content is enough to keep me awake with excitement."
"But corrupted creatures don’t need sleep," her silly little attendant added helpfully from the side.
"Good point. As punishment, you’ll be disciplined by ten Corrupted Wolfhounds." Frenita waved her hand listlessly. "Go. One hour."
"Huh?"
The little attendant was dragged away by two Orc corpses. Before long, miserable screams echoed from the room next door.
"I want to kill to my heart’s content too," the octopus monster said with a sinister laugh. "I don’t understand why the higher-ups decided to give up the three territories."
Frenita yawned, curling her crystal-clear toes. "Because of the advice from the Chaos Calamity. A Chaos Divine Chosen came to Golden Griffin Imperial City, showed the higher-ups the future, and told them they needed to endure."
"What did the higher-ups see to make them trust an outsider?" The corrupted Divine Chosen were all curious.
"The imperial capital, Golden Griffin Imperial City, completely swallowed by a tide of corrupted corpses." Frenita revealed her pearly white teeth, her eyes glittering with excitement. "The sight was absolutely beautiful. That was when the higher-ups decided to abandon the attack and quietly accumulate their strength instead."
"Even without a prophecy, we could still drown the world! This is our era. We shouldn’t listen to those cowardly creatures from the old era."
A corrupted Orc roared beside them, spraying saliva everywhere. "Killing and evolving are the only ways for us to survive."
"That’s why I’m here." Frenita stretched lazily. The movement was so exaggerated that her dress nearly failed to contain her chest. She spread her hands, admiring her eerie claws. "Let’s show the humans the might of the calamity and knock them down a peg or two."
"Lady Frenita, your beauty is like a pearl from the deepest sea. I am utterly captivated."
A disgusting humanoid corpse crawled out from the top of the octopus monster’s head. Upon closer inspection, it was wearing tattered noble clothing. "Please allow me to kiss your hand. I shall forever be your knight."
"Get lost."
Frenita flicked one of her claws, slicing the approaching tentacle cleanly in two.
"You filthy flea. How dare you? Go mobilize the army. I’m going to personally conquer Nightfall Domain."
"Ohhh! Wonderful! I love being insulted by Lady Frenita!"
The octopus monster laughed perversely as it slowly sank into the pool of water among the ruins.
Meanwhile, Phield had captured one corrupted village and a waystation after another, but he had run into a major problem and could no longer advance.
Inside the dilapidated waystation, Phield frowned as he surveyed the surroundings. The Divine Chosen stood on either side of him, silently waiting.
The entire area was practically a flooded swamp. The water reached their calves, and every step sank into nothing but mud and puddles. The corrupted army could barely move forward.
"Why is there filthy water everywhere?" Phield said irritably. "The rainy season is already over."
"In that case, we can only control aquatic corpses," Ophelia said helplessly. "I’ve observed the traits of the corpses around here. They have aquatic organs and are well suited for fighting in the water, but they’re extremely weak. If we switch to a different type of corpse temporarily, our combat strength will drop drastically."
Three aquatic corpses combined weren’t even a match for a single land corpse.
Just as Phield was deep in thought, Ashina returned from scouting.
"What’s the situation around Bluewater City?"
"There hasn’t been any large-scale movement from the corpse tide yet." Ashina shook her head, sending a spray of mist flying. "As for the surrounding terrain, it’s all flooded ground. The terrain has severely restricted my scouting. I even fell into deep water several times."
"We can only have Ophelia control the aquatic corpses and fight."
Phield slammed his fist against the wall of the ruins in frustration, shaking loose a layer of moss.
"My lord, I can fight in the water too. I’m a mermaid, after all." Aikalia volunteered herself.
"War isn’t something one person can solve." Phield suppressed his frustration and gave her a gentle smile.
The flooded terrain also severely reduced Rosalia and Ashina’s combat effectiveness. If the enemy found an opportunity to catch them off guard, casualties were highly likely.
"Huh? Violet is here." At that moment, Ashina sniffed the air. "I haven’t smelled her in a long time. She actually came to Dawnfall Domain."
"Let’s go take a look."
Phield pushed the thoughts from his mind and quickly walked outside.
"Roar!"
Violet’s presence had already been discovered by the corrupted army. More than twenty heavily armored corpses surrounded her.
"Calm down. I’m not your enemy."
Violet wore a simple, tattered short skirt and looked extremely nervous. She was still only a first-order Divine Chosen. Facing so many heavily armored corpses, she could easily be injured.
"You’re still alive, you traitorous bitch!" The little fat dragon Ophelia flew into a rage the moment she saw Violet. "It was all because of you that I was captured by that trash lord back then! I’m going to beat you to death, traitor!"
"Ahem." Phield cleared his throat. "Ophelia, how have you been doing since then? Are you thinking about switching sides?"
"I’m doing great." Ophelia crossed her legs and planted her hands on her hips, looking incredibly smug. "But that doesn’t stop me from wanting to beat this traitor to a pulp."
"I’m here to provide intelligence."
Violet looked deeply at Phield. "Leave this place as quickly as you can. Frenita brought two third-order Divine Chosen with her. With the corrupted lord here as well, you’re effectively facing the combat power of four third-order Divine Chosen at once."
"Frenita? Who’s that?" Phield was completely confused. He had never heard of her before.
"The Goddess of Beauty’s pet cat. Have you heard of her? Some people also call her the Persian Cat. They say she’s the second most beautiful woman in the Northern Territory. The first is the Archduke’s biological daughter."
Phield immediately became interested. "Then who’s the number one beauty?"
After all, who would dare rank the Archduke’s daughter second? The territory and influence once controlled by the Golden Lion Archduke had been even more formidable than that of the Golden Griffin family.
"Huh? That crazy woman?" Rosalia, who had been standing there blankly, suddenly looked disgusted. She folded her arms across her chest. "That woman is still alive? I thought the Orcs had already impaled her."
"You know each other?" Phield was stunned.
"Yeah. We met at the monastery. She was adopted by the nuns when she was a child." Rosalia had once been forced by her family to become a nun, but she ran away. "That despicable woman never cared about the kindness the nuns showed her. After she attached herself to the Golden Lion Archduke, guess what the first outrageous thing she did was?"
Phield’s curiosity immediately got the better of him. "I have no idea. Hurry up and tell me."
"She turned the confession room of that monastery into... well, something similar to an execution chamber. She had the nuns locked into the wooden walls, and then made the male believers who came to..."
