Phield climbed onto a wooden fortification, his eyes bloodshot as he stared toward Dawnfall Territory in the distance.

"I accept your challenge. I swear I will repay it a thousand times over!"

The conflict between the Corrupted and humanity was irreconcilable. It was time to strike back with everything he had.

"We killed three Corrupted Divine Chosen before, and they barely even reacted. This time, we have to tear another huge chunk of flesh from them. Otherwise, they will never understand what pain is."

Phield roared.

"Let those ignorant fools taste the wrath of Nightfall Domain!"

Ashina raised her spear.

"I am willing to die for you, my lord!"

"We are willing to die for you, my lord!"

The soldiers of Nightfall Domain responded with fervent enthusiasm.

Phield gradually regained his composure.

"Rest for now and treat the wounded. At the same time, reinforce and complete our defensive fortifications."

"Yes!"

"Huh? The lord over there seems pretty worked up. Haha, this is so much fun."

On a hillside in the distance outside the walls, a Corrupted Divine Chosen scratched her head.

"We only came looking for a little food, and they are already this excited. If we actually got serious, would those useless fools not be scared to death?"

"Do not worry about them. They will be killed sooner or later."

Frenita coquettishly licked the blood from her fingernail.

"They cannot accomplish anything. They are nothing more than the cries of the weak. Let us take a stroll through the city of Dawnfall Territory. I remember there is one of our kind stationed there."

With that, Frenita glanced back toward Nightfall Domain and smiled seductively.

"Come on. I hope you can at least give me a little pleasure."

The next day.

The Corpse Fiend Legion had finished assembling.

With the territory’s vast supply of military equipment, the Corpse Fiend Legion had been completely transformed.

The Corpse Fiends were outfitted in heavy border guard armor, with massive domed helmets covering their heads. Since Corpse Fiends possessed tremendous physical strength, every one of them wore two layers of armor. Beneath the heavy outer armor was a layer of chainmail resembling a metal net, protecting every joint of their bodies.

Almost all that could be seen of each Corpse Fiend were its two eyes.

The Corpse Fiend Legion was armed with kite shields, extended spears, and military sabers hanging from their waists.

Under the strong wind, the rows of spears swayed like endless fields of sugarcane.

More than a thousand heavily armored Corpse Fiends would have been considered a formidable core force by virtually any faction beyond the Northern Frontier.

Phield’s eyes burned with determination.

"Move out! For the future of our territory and for the people who died a tragic death, we march west!"

"The baron has given the order. Open the border gates and let them through!"

Ashina was in peak condition. Riding her giant wolf, she carried both a bow and spear, with a quiver full of arrows hanging at her side. Her entire appearance radiated murderous intent.

"Open the gates!"

Newte had already wrapped his wounds in fresh bandages. He stood perfectly straight and saluted alongside the soldiers stationed at the border.

At the command, the border gate between Nightfall Domain and Dawnfall Territory slowly opened.

"March! March! Take Dawnfall Territory!"

Ophelia was incredibly excited, wildly swinging her enormous tail.

"We finally get to fight! I am going to eat every single enemy!"

"They dared to invade my territory. They will pay a heavy price."

Rosalia was equally excited, her eyes filled with bloodlust.

"They sound like they might be rather delicious."

They had barely traveled a few miles beyond the border wall when Phield suddenly warned them.

"Careful. We have disturbed the Corpse Fiends in this area."

As they entered the mist covered Dawnfall Territory, filled with moisture, ghastly cries echoed from every direction.

Countless Corpse Fiends slowly rose from puddles and reed beds, their bodies dripping wet as they stared at Phield and the others.

They looked like drowned ghosts searching for replacements, their eyes glowing with eerie green light.

"Corpse Fiend Legion, form a horizontal battle line! Set your spears!"

Phield issued the order without hesitation.

"Roar!"

Under Ophelia’s command, the Corpse Fiend Legion responded immediately.

They compressed their formation as tightly as possible while extending their spears forward.

The countless extended spears, each more than three meters long, made the formation look like an enormous iron porcupine.

"Aikalia, buff them."

"Okay! First Tier Divine Skill, Overture of Surging Tides!"

Aikalia plucked the strings of her small harp, producing uplifting notes.

The visible musical notes transformed into countless droplets of water that gathered together before flowing into the bodies of the surrounding Corpse Fiends.

"Their strength has increased, and even their mana has become more active. But it looks like the effect on Ashina and the others is not very strong. After all, they are two entire tiers apart."

Phield excitedly swung both fists, producing a series of sharp sonic cracks in the air.

"Ashina, move freely around the battlefield and be ready to charge into the horde at any moment."

"Yes."

"Swish, swish, swish!"

A dense barrage of bone spikes suddenly shot through the moisture filled gray mist, clattering against the formation.

Yet against their high quality armor, the bone spikes could barely do more than scratch them.

"Roar!"

A series of savage roars echoed through the mist.

Countless wet Corpse Fiends with glowing green eyes surged forward like commuters during rush hour, desperately squeezing their way toward the army.

Among them were even Corrupted creatures that had once been fish and shrimp.

The moment the two sides came into contact, the Corpse Fiends began throwing themselves forward one after another.

There seemed to be no end to their numbers.

But waiting for them was nothing more than a dense wall of spears.

"Pfft! Pfft!"

The continuous sound of spears piercing flesh rang out.

The razor sharp spearheads effortlessly pierced through the Corpse Fiends.

Using the momentum of the charging creatures against them, the spears entered through their chests and emerged from their backs, only to pierce into a second Corpse Fiend behind them.

Some of the smarter Corpse Fiends tried to find gaps in the formation.

But there were spears everywhere.

Before they could even find an opportunity to push the spears aside, the creatures behind them shoved them forward, turning them into skewers of flesh.

The Corpse Fiends of Nightfall Domain did not even need to move.

As long as they kept their spears steady, enemy Corpse Fiends would throw themselves onto them and die.

"Second squad, third squad, advance! Set your spears!"

When Phield saw that the spears of the first line were completely covered with corpses and could no longer be used for further attacks, he decisively ordered the next lines forward.

They repeated the same tactic.

Countless Corpse Fiends were impaled, their blood flowing together into streams.

"Attack! Keep attacking!"

Phield urged his warhorse forward, his eyes blazing.

"I have had enough of being squeezed into this tiny corner by the Corpse Fiends!"

"Once we secure access to the sea, we will never be restrained by anyone again!"

September 10th, in the ninth month of the Griffin calendar.

Autumn had arrived, and Nightfall Domain launched its western expedition.

That same day, news that Dawnfall Territory had come under attack and more than two thousand Corpse Fiends had been annihilated reached the central city of Dawnfall Territory, Bluewater City.

The city had once been an extraordinarily prosperous commercial metropolis and the Northern Frontier’s naval base.

Now, more than half of the city was submerged underwater, with aquatic monsters and Corpse Fiends roaming everywhere.

Bluewater City.

The City Lord’s Palace.

"He could not even restrain himself after a single surprise attack and recklessly came out to seek revenge."

Frenita lay lazily on the bed like a cat, stretching her soft, snow white body.

"He is nowhere near the level of those old established nobles."

"He is even more foolish than our green skinned orcs."

A female Corrupted orc chimed in from the side.

"Exactly. Not every noble can be as wise and mighty as the Golden Lion Grand Duke."

"I will personally crush Phield’s army."

A massive octopus emerged from the water and spoke in a human voice.

"If it were not for the plan of our superiors, the army of Dawnfall Territory alone would have been enough to destroy Phield."

"However, since he has come rushing here to throw his life away, I will gladly send him on his way."

The octopus spoke in a twisted voice before respectfully asking,

"Honored Lady Frenita, is there anything else your knight can do for you?"
