If the hospital were a company, then the Chief Director would be the big boss.

The big boss’s friend, staying in the VIP ward, personally calling in, you can imagine the kind of standards to be used.

This absolutely has to meet VIP plus standards, and having Chen Zhenxing call so early also represents that the patient’s admission needs to be kept confidential.

This confidentiality level has to be raised somewhat, or why would Chen Zhenxing make the call?

Liu Banxia dispatching two capable subordinates at once also shows enough emphasis, which Chen Zhenxing is quite satisfied with.

He also knows that the current "six little ones" are different from how they were when they first came to the Second Hospital. Despite their short work tenure, they are now definitely key members of the emergency center.

"Alright, the patients in the ward have no big issues. How about you guys? Have you made a decision?" Liu Banxia asked after completing the ward rounds.

"Teacher Liu, how about lunch?" Xu Yino asked.

"Alright, then let’s do lunch. Keep it up, I’m very optimistic about all of you," Liu Banxia said cheerfully.

"You should continue with your admissions downstairs. I’ll go take a look at the VIP case. I don’t even know if the patient is male or female yet, let’s see what the situation is later."

The four little ones nodded, aware that Liu Banxia has to prioritize the VIP patient. They’ve spent so much money, they should naturally receive due treatment.

Especially considering that the Chief Director made the call; it must be handled appropriately.

Liu Banxia is actually quite curious, with many VIP admissions so far, this one is genuinely high-profile.

"How important is this person at the Second Hospital? Just sending two resident doctors over?"

"Sis, wasn’t it mentioned that they’re downstairs doing rounds? They have to finish up before coming up here."

"This time they even called Old Chen, it’s not like only they can do it, come to my place."

"Sis, Dad insists on doing it here, heard that this Director Liu, despite being new, is very skilled."

Just as Liu Banxia walked to the ward door, before he knocked, he heard an unpleasant conversation inside.

He felt somewhat depressed inside, seems like this sister is not easy to deal with. It’s awkward for him to knock and enter now.

After waiting outside for more than three minutes, he finally knocked and entered.

There really were quite a few people in the room; the patient was lying on the bed, on oxygen, and connected to a heart monitor.

"Teacher Liu, we just did a check-up. The current situation is okay, these are the films we brought," Liu Yiqing quietly reported next to Liu Banxia.

However, Liu Banxia could sense from her expression that this girl was holding in her frustration.

"Hello, I am Liu Banxia. I’ll take a look at the films first," Liu Banxia briefly introduced himself.

"Director Liu, when can you do the surgery?"

A woman in her forties directly asked from inside the room.

"I need to look at the films first, and also check our surgery scheduling," Liu Banxia replied with a smile.

"These films are a week old, and it looks like the position is somewhat low. The Chief Director said it’s phase two, the infiltration range at the base is significant."

"Can you just tell me if you can do it and when?" The same woman pressed on.

"I’m sorry, I can’t give you a clear answer yet." Liu Banxia replied calmly.

"The Chief Director’s friend surely has some medical knowledge. Even if the films were from three days ago, we still need to redo the tests before surgery to see if there’s any change in condition."

"Only by considering the patient’s current actual condition can we schedule the surgery. Also, the patient’s body indicators are only visible on the heart monitor right now, detailed checks are necessary. That’s how it is, right?"

This soft refusal from Liu Banxia was very displeasing to the woman.

"Jun, move aside."

The patient lying on the bed opened his mouth to speak.

"How do you feel? Normally, this shouldn’t affect your breathing." Liu Banxia moved to the bedside.

"Old Chen always praises you, saying your Second Hospital has a real treasure with detailed observations," the patient smiled and said.

"I’ve had past lung injuries, so lung function is somewhat poor. Recently there’s been some inflammation, making breathing less smooth. You’re my attending doctor; I just want to be a good patient."

"Whatever tests are needed, when the surgery can be done, it’s up to you. Jun is worried about my health, don’t take it to heart, being a doctor is not easy."

"You overemphasize, there’s really nothing of that sort," Liu Banxia replied with a chuckle.

"Liu Yiqing, get all the necessary tests arranged for expedited processing. I’ll talk to anesthesia to see if today’s surgery schedule is full."

"Director Liu, do you mean it can be done today? Can it be with rectal preservation?" A man in his thirties asked.

Liu Banxia matched him up, this was the one who "spoke for him" earlier.

"According to the scans you brought, there’s no issue, which is why I suggested another check-up; after all, it’s quite close to the anal verge," Liu Banxia said.

He’s got a temper too, you know. If it were a regular patient’s family, it wouldn’t be a big deal—they know nothing. It’s obvious that this family is related to the medical field; how can they not understand such a minor thing?

There’s only one explanation: she’s developed a habit of handling things in an overbearing manner. But here, in my domain? That’s not going to work, even if Chen Zhenxing made a special phone call to advise them.

To put it bluntly, he actually hopes they’ll transfer to a higher-end hospital. He doesn’t crave this particular surgery nor needs to build connections with their family.

The patient, however, spoke quite reasonably, and considering his age, otherwise Liu might have had a stronger rebuttal.

Can’t doctors have a temper? It’s just a simple transaction. You pay to treat an illness, and we provide the treatment. Why can’t we be a bit courteous to one another?

"Tao, let Director Liu make the arrangements. He’s the chief surgeon and knows what he’s doing," the patient on the bed spoke again.

Liu Banxia smiled and nodded, "If the indicators are satisfactory, there’s space available in the operating room today, and we can proceed with the surgery."

"Director Liu, this is an emergency center; surely there’s a reserved operating room?" The woman who spoke earlier chimed in again.

This time, it’s slightly better; at the very least, it’s in a questioning tone.

"Yes, we do, but we must reserve them for emergency patients; that’s why they exist," Liu Banxia explained.

"It’s not a big deal. Let’s perform the check-up first and see the physical indicators. I’ll try to coordinate a schedule so I can squeeze in a couple of hours, relying on the operating room staff to work hard to complete the surgery."

"But we still need to look at the indicators. We can’t force it. We must be responsible for the elderly man’s health. For this type of tumor, a day or two delay isn’t critical."

"Liu Yiqing, go ahead and arrange the relevant inspections. I’m heading to the anesthesia department to see what their schedule looks like for today."

"Alright, Teacher Liu," Liu Yiqing responded.

Liu Banxia gestured a nod toward the patient on the bed and then left the room.

"Teacher Liu, you have no idea how annoying the patient’s daughter’s remarks can be," Su Wenhao said as he followed Liu Banxia out.

"It’s obvious from the look of it; you both faced some grievances," Liu Banxia replied with a smile.

"Well... it’s actually nothing much. As inpatient doctors, our skills certainly leave much to be desired. Should I go back and relieve Liu Yiqing?" Su Wenhao asked tentatively.

"It’s unnecessary," Liu Banxia shook his head.

"Why leave her there? Because she has a gentle nature; she also needs to be tempered appropriately," Liu Banxia explained.

"The patients and their relatives we encounter vary in temperament. So, we also need to be psychologically prepared to deal with all kinds of people."

"But it’s clear this family is not ordinary. Even their attire is of high standard, which naturally increases their vocal volume and causes different perspectives."

"Teacher Liu, you’re quite skilled at embellishing things," Su Wenhao laughed and remarked.

"What can be done? We’re treating the patient. Truthfully, it bothers me too; otherwise, I could just make a call to Old Wang next door," Liu Banxia said.

"It’s also necessary for them to understand that even if the surgery can be performed, it’s forcibly scheduled, and our operating room staff work extremely hard."

"They shouldn’t assume that because money is spent or because they know people, they can act like they’re entitled to everything. That’s not how things work; much less why surgery plans exist."

Su Wenhao chuckled without saying anything.

He knew Liu Banxia was slightly agitated; otherwise, he wouldn’t be airing so many grievances.

Returning to the first floor, Liu Banxia didn’t rush to contact Wang Lei; instead, he preferred to wait to see the patient’s physical indicators.

Even though he could proceed now, he couldn’t determine just by a glance whether the patient was fit for surgery.

Emergency surgeries are unavoidable; if not performed, the patient’s life is at risk. Patients who are scheduled for surgery must meet the satisfactory physical condition criteria.

"Director Liu, we’ve completed all the examinations,"

At this moment, the son of the liver transplant patient approached again.

"Director Liu, my colonoscopy is done, but the other results aren’t out yet," said the patient from last night as he sought Liu out.

"No need to rush; these are follow-up patients. I’ll look at the results, which won’t take long. As for you, I need to discuss based on your gastroscopy results," Liu Banxia said with a smile.

He promptly accessed the examination results of the father and son duo, and after a thorough review, he nodded in satisfaction, "You’ve both recovered very well; next time, come back in two months or if you feel uncomfortable."

"Meanwhile, continue the prescribed medication and dismiss any concerns about the cost. Those are secondary; perhaps soon, you won’t need to take immunosuppressants."

"Director Liu, is the recovery really going well?" the patient’s daughter asked happily.

"It’s genuinely good; tonight, celebrate at home," Liu Banxia nodded and smiled.

"Thank you, Director Liu, thank you so much."

In her joy, the patient’s daughter raised her voice slightly, and many nearby looked over with envy.

Even those unfamiliar with their situation could tell they were celebrating a recovery.
