Fei’er smiled: "Princess, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I hope we can get along well."

The maid felt that there was lightning between their exchanged glances.

The Princess didn’t stay long. She soon stood up and took her leave. In the carriage, the Princess suddenly asked her maid: "What do you think of that Fei’er?"

The maid immediately replied: "Of course, she’s not even one-tenth of how great you are, Princess."

The Princess laughed exasperatedly: "That’s not what I meant!"

The maid was stunned. What did the Princess mean then? The Princess said no more, just sat there in silence, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, pondering over something unknown.

The happiest person about Fei’er’s arrival was Jesse. Seeing Fei’er after so long, Jesse had so much he wanted to say to her. Buck gave Jesse a day off to spend time with his friend.

"Jesse, it’s so nice to see how much you’ve improved. You must be a qualified knight by now," Fei’er remarked, looking at the significantly changed Jesse. The two sat under a large tree, watching Tianmiao pick flowers nearby.

"Actually, it’s exhausting, learning so much every day. I’m always afraid I won’t do well, afraid I’ll disappoint my teacher..." Jesse said slowly. He had no one to tell these things to, and now that Fei’er was here, he finally had someone to confide in. Tianmiao was too young; he couldn’t possibly burden a child with his worries. And there were no other friends he could talk to.

Fei’er was a bit surprised, then felt a pang of heartache: "You can refuse some things, don’t overwork yourself like this."

"No, I want to become better and stronger," Jesse paused, turning to Fei’er, "strong enough to protect Tiantian, to protect you..."

Fei’er was stunned, looking at Jesse’s earnest and determined expression on his handsome face, her heartbeat inexplicably quickened.

A gentle breeze blew by, brushing against their faces.

The two stayed silent for a long time, gazing into each other’s eyes.

In the distance, Tianmiao watched the two of them, took out an apple, and slowly nibbled on it.

"Mistress, what are those two doing? Competing to see whose eyes are bigger?" Kong Hou squatted at Tianmiao’s feet, watching the two with disdain, "If you like each other, just go for it, kiss already, hurry and kiss! What are they looking at?"

"Human emotions are subtle like this," Dong Xiao squatted on Kong Hou’s cat-like head, stepping on Kong Hou’s fluffy head, "Humans aren’t like us. When we like someone, we express it directly. But they often have to go through many things, ferment lots of emotions before it comes naturally."

"Tch, troublesome! I just want to hold their heads together and make them kiss, it’d be so much easier," Kong Hou said impatiently.

Silly dragon! Dong Xiao thought humorously. If this silly dragon ever fell in love, it’d probably be quite a show.

...

Buck had always placed the utmost importance on Jesse’s growth. And Buck also believed that hands-on practice was the fastest way to grow.

So, Buck let Jesse go out for training. Naturally, when Fei’er heard Jesse was going out for training, she wanted to go with him.

Tianmiao also wanted to go, but Buck and Jesse vehemently opposed.

However, their opposition was futile.

Tianmiao stated that she also wanted to grow. As a mage, she didn’t want to be like Wallace, who had powerful magic but a weak physique.

Wallace in seclusion sneezed repeatedly, thinking it must have turned winter outside without him noticing.

Faced with Tianmiao’s compelling reasoning, Buck not only didn’t oppose but also supported it greatly.

The mages he had met were all too weak physically. Should anything happen, they’d have to rely on knights to protect them before they could perform magic. He didn’t want the little angel to turn out like that. Even though the little angel could now perform instant magic, it was still not strong enough.

Thus, Jesse, along with Tianmiao and Fei’er, set off for training.
