And just like that, Fei’er moved into Jesse’s home.

In the morning, Jesse went out to "work," leaving just Tianmiao and Fei’er at home.

"Is it like this every day? Your brother makes you breakfast and lunch before he leaves. You stay home and wait for him all day, and he only comes back at night?" Fei’er asked as she looked at the milk and bread on the table. Wasn’t that really lonely? Poor little sweetheart. Luckily she’d moved in and could keep the little one company now.

"Yeah." Tianmiao nodded. "Jesse also gives me some copper coins, so if I want to eat something else I can ask the grandma next door to buy it for me. He won’t let me go out alone. He says if I go out I’ll get kidnapped."

"I totally agree with him on that. You’re so cute, you really would get kidnapped. When I saw you yesterday I almost..." Fei’er trailed off as she realized she’d said the wrong thing and quickly shut her mouth.

Tianmiao laughed. "Don’t worry, I know you’re not a bad person. I won’t kick you out. In this world, no one exists who can actually kidnap me."

Fei’er blinked at the chubby little cutie, who was saying such confident words, and only found her even more adorable. She really wanted to scoop her up and give her a good squeeze.

"But now that you’re here, we can go to town and buy things together. With you around, if anyone bullies me you can punch them into the sky." Tianmiao said with a squinty-eyed grin.

"Right, with me here, relax. Anyone who dares bully you, I’ll send them flying into the heavens." Fei’er clenched her fists.

"No, no, don’t really send them into the sky." Seeing Fei’er rubbing her fists like that, Tianmiao was afraid the girl really would knock someone flying, and that would be trouble. A young female dragon who’d just left Dragon Valley and hadn’t even finished her coming-of-age trial yet, getting put on a human wanted list—that would be bad.

"Okay. I’ll control my strength." Fei’er nodded.

"Then hand over today’s Gold Coin. Your rent and food money. After that we’ll go into town and buy some stuff, and tonight we’ll give Jesse a surprise. He works so hard every day." Tianmiao held out her chubby little hand, asking Fei’er for money.

Fei’er looked at Tianmiao’s plump little hand, forced herself to hold back the urge to grab and squeeze it, and carefully took out a Gold Coin, placing it gently in Tianmiao’s palm.

Tianmiao glanced at Fei’er and suddenly asked, "When you give me a Gold Coin, do you feel reluctant?"

"No, it’s fine giving it to you. But if anyone else tries to take my Gold Coins, that’s basically asking for my life." Fei’er frowned, speaking with grave seriousness.

"Thank you, Fei’er." Tianmiao pressed her lips together and smiled. She knew exactly how deep the Dragon Clan’s obsession with their own hoards ran. But Fei’er’s generosity toward her was genuinely unexpected; she could actually suppress that powerful instinct.

"Then let’s go buy things." Fei’er looked outside. "This town is really beautiful. It’s the first time I’ve seen such a pretty little town." In truth, since leaving Dragon Valley Fei’er hadn’t been to many places at all; this was only the second town she’d ever seen.

"Okay." Tianmiao finished the last sip of milk, hopped off the chair, and headed out with Fei’er.

In the little town, people had long since started their day’s work.

The town had only one bakery, and besides bread they also sold pudding and cheese. After buying some bread, Tianmiao took Fei’er straight to the pork shop. Meat was her true love.

The Boss of the pork shop was cutting meat. Seeing Tianmiao appear, he greeted her with a broad smile.

"Little Tianmiao, where’s your brother?"

"On guard duty. Boss, give me two suckling pigs. Can you送 them to my house later?" Tianmiao asked.
