Chapter 1106 - 16: Making the Prince a Cuckold

When Prince Kang arrived, he witnessed the scene.

A few maidservants, faces brimming with smiles, were enthusiastically clustered around Princess Kang, chattering away, while Princess Kang beamed like a flower, responding to them about something. Then the maidservants let out even louder cheers. The scene looked so pleasing to the eye.

"Princess!" Prince Kang stepped forward and called out.

In the next moment, the maidservants, who were previously full of smiles, wiped the smiles off their faces, fell silent, and stepped aside, giving Prince Kang a salute.

Tianmiao glanced at Prince Kang, her smile also disappearing, and asked flatly, "Why has the Prince come?"

Feeling the completely different atmosphere from before, Prince Kang felt inexplicably uncomfortable inside.

"You were out all night without returning, so I came to find you," Prince Kang said.

"Oh. I’m fine, thank you for your concern," Tianmiao’s tone remained very flat.

"Then, when will the Princess be returning?" Prince Kang asked again.

"In the afternoon, I suppose."

"I’ll return with the Princess," Prince Kang stood beside Tianmiao and smiled, "By the way, today some pearls arrived from the south, each one round and bright. I’ve set aside a box for the Princess."

"Are they leftover pearls for me, or specially chosen ones for me?" Tianmiao asked with a half-sarcastic smile.

"Specially chosen, specially chosen," Prince Kang hurriedly said.

"Suddenly being so nice?" Tianmiao glanced at him.

Prince Kang instinctively spoke quickly, "I’ve always been... to the Princess..." Once the words left his mouth, he was stunned. He couldn’t continue. If he had truly always been good to the Princess, why had he broken his vow and married another woman?

Tianmiao merely gave Prince Kang a half-smiling look again and said flatly, "You should go back first, send the pearls over to me anyway."

Prince Kang nodded awkwardly, watched Tianmiao turn away, wanted to say something but stopped. Finally, he turned around and left in silence.

On the carriage ride back to the city, Prince Kang pondered a question all the while.

Did he like the Princess?

He did.

Otherwise, upon hearing her mention separation, the first thought in his heart was that it was absolutely impossible.

Did he like the Concubine?

He liked her too.

He liked the Concubine’s passion and boldness, liked that she always had many fresh ideas, strange and novel thoughts.

He really found it hard to choose.

He didn’t want to lose the Princess, nor the Concubine.

How could he get the Princess to forgive him?

Maybe it would take some time.

As long as he coaxed the Princess more, things should go back to the way they were.

...

After Prince Kang returned to the Prince Mansion, Qin the Concubine was sketching.

"What’s this?" Prince Kang walked to the desk and, puzzled, looked at the sketch Qin the Concubine had drawn on paper and asked.

"It’s a renovation design. Look, here’s the display counter, here’s the VIP reception area, here..." Qin the Concubine joyfully introduced to Prince Kang. Qin the Concubine had chosen a new shopfront, though not in the best location, it wasn’t bad either. It wasn’t too far from the Princess’s gold shop. Qin the Concubine was somewhat satisfied.

"Interesting." Prince Kang looked at Qin the Concubine’s introduction and matching her draft, felt that the Concubine’s ideas were still so novel and intriguing.

"I will earn lots and lots of money. Then I’ll buy lots of things for you," Qin the Concubine said happily.

"I don’t need a woman’s money," Prince Kang refused.

"Why can’t I buy things for the man I love?" Qin the Concubine pouted discontentedly.
