The Darkness System: Rise of the Broken Sovereign
Chapter 339: Shadow God Transformation
Kael moved through the House of Crimson base with purpose. His bloodline forms had retracted—white hair shifting back to black, horns receding into his skull.
Fifteen minutes. That was all it had taken. Fifteen minutes since he broke free of the rune cuffs, killed the guards, and destroyed Claudia. The Shadow Vatican operatives scattered throughout the installation continued their routines, oblivious to the fact that the broken captive in the torture chamber had become the most dangerous thing inside the building.
His soul sense swept ahead—PULSE—two hundred meters of perception mapping the corridors, identifying signatures, tracking movements. He found Draxos easily. The Asura Demon’s mana signature was unmistakable—a dense, dark red presence radiating ancient demonic energy.
Kael arrived at the chamber entrance. The room was vast—thirty meters across, its walls inscribed with teleportation runes that pulsed with spatial energy. The portal filled the far wall, a shimmering disc of blue-white light that led to an unknown destination. Draxos stood before it, his back to the door, his massive frame silhouetted against the portal’s glow. He was about to step through.
Kael raised his fist. He closed it—CLENCH—and a gravitational field erupted around the portal—HUMMM—a crushing, compressing force that surrounded the shimmering disc from every direction. The portal’s runes screamed—SCREEEE—the spatial energy destabilizing under the gravitational pressure. The portal flickered and collapsed inward on itself—SHATTER—the spatial tear sealing permanently.
Draxos shouted—ROAR—"WHAT?!"
He spun around, his dark red eyes blazing with fury. His gaze found the figure standing in the doorway.
His eyes widened.
Kael smiled. "Miss me?"
Draxos stared, his massive frame frozen in genuine shock. The last time he had seen Kael, the boy was dead.
"How the fuck are you alive?" Draxos said, his deep voice carrying a rare note of genuine bewilderment.
Kael walked into the chamber. His Heart of the Carnage Deity activated—SURGE—Slaughter Intent and Wrath intent flooding his bloodstream, his eyes gaining their characteristic crimson ring. The air around him darkened, the ambient temperature dropping as his killing will pressed outward.
"You know," Kael said, his voice calm, "someone just asked me the same question a few moments ago."
Draxos snorted, his shock fading. A smirk replaced his bewilderment. "It seems my experiment worked. The Asura bloodline integrated successfully." He tilted his massive head, studying Kael with renewed interest. "Why don’t you join me? Together, we shall reclaim what was ours. The Astraeon and Asura bloodlines, united. We could—"
"I would prefer to have your head instead," Kael said, chuckling. He walked closer, his steps unhurried. "But thanks, by the way. Without your help, I wouldn’t have been able to obtain the potential to surpass my father."
Draxos’s smirk faltered. "Surpass your father? What—"
Kael’s smirk widened. "Damian Astraeon. Does that name sound familiar?"
The reaction was immediate. Draxos’s aura surged, his dark red eyes igniting with ancient, genocidal hatred. His Wrath Intent exploded outward—FWOOM—the pressure cracking the chamber walls. His four fists clenched, bone spikes erupting from his knuckles. His body trembled—not from fear, but from rage. The name Damian Astraeon was carved into the Asura bloodline’s ancestral memory as the embodiment of annihilation.
"Did you just say he’s your father?" Draxos’s face contorted with rage, his voice dropping to a guttural growl.
Kael chuckled again—HAH—as he says with a mocking smile. "Maybe you do have ear problems for such a superior race. I better check myself after this mess. After all, I do have the Asura bloodline now. I wouldn’t want any disabilities."
Draxos attacked.
A blast of demonic energy erupted from his palm—FWOOM—a concentrated beam of dark red power screaming toward Kael’s chest. Kael raised multiple dark shields, three layers of condensed darkness forming in front of him. The blast struck the shields breaking through. The remnant force reached Kael.
Orbital Deflection activated—HUMMM—the micro-layer of gravitational rotation bending the remaining energy around his body. The blast dispersed—FWOOM—harmlessly into the walls behind him.
Kael immediately activated Void Core. Primordial darkness rule power surged into the dark core forming in his chest. The Void Core was still one of his greatest trump card—the technique that had allowed him to fight far above his cultivation level.
Draxos saw it forming. He recognized the technique. He had seen what that dark core could do back in the Void Realm. He wasn’t about to let Kael complete the activation.
Draxos charged—WHOOSH—his true demon form beginning to manifest, his body expanding.
But Kael had already expected that.
Six Shadow Phantoms materialized around him, the evolved summons forming from condensed darkness. Through Shadow Legion Command, each phantom had been permanently assigned a specific element. Two Flame Wraiths—infused with Demonic Asura Fire, their forms wreathed in purple-black flames. Two Storm Phantoms—infused with Lightning, their bodies crackling with blue-white electricity. Two standard Shadow Phantoms—pure darkness, carrying dark spears infused with rule power.
The Flame Wraiths fired first—FWOOM, FWOOM—two concentrated blasts of Demonic Asura Fire screaming toward Draxos. The Storm Phantoms threw their lightning-infused spears—CRACKLE, FWOOOM—blue-white energy cutting through the air. The standard phantoms launched their dark spears—HUMMM, HUMMM—the rule-power-infused weapons trailing shadows.
Draxos deflected them easily. His four arms swept through the air—SWISH, SWISH, SWISH—bone weapons forming in his hands, parrying the fire blasts, scattering the spears, dispersing the lightning. His Body Manipulation reinforced his exoskeleton—CRACK—the deflected attacks leaving no damage.
But the Storm Phantoms weren’t done. One appeared at Draxos’s side—FLASH—Lightning Body active, moving with blinding speed. Its lightning-infused fist drove toward Draxos’s ribs.
Draxos caught the fist. His hand closed around the phantom’s wrist and bone spikes erupted from his palm—CRACK, CRACK, CRACK—stabbing through the Storm Phantom’s condensed form. The phantom dissolved, its lightning dispersing.
But the distraction had served its purpose. A Demonic Asura Flame attack from one of the Flame Wraiths struck Draxos from behind—FWOOM—the fire burning through his exoskeleton—SIZZLE. Draxos staggered forward.
He activated his true demon form fully. His body expanded—CRACK—five meters tall, horns growing, wings spreading. His Wrath Intent blazed and he destroyed the remaining five phantoms in a single burst of demonic energy—FWOOOM—their forms shattering like glass.
But Kael had already completed the Void Core.
The dark core entered his chest and his aura erupted. Spirit Soul Rank 3 surged to Rank 8, the Primordial darkness rule power amplifying the Void Core’s output beyond its previous limits. His mana pathways widened, his soul power flared, his body cultivation hummed at maximum output.
Then he activated the transformations.
Shadow God Transformation, First Form: Fiend—FWOOM—darkness armor coating his body, the incomplete plate armor forming across his torso, arms, and legs. Claws extended. Crown of shadows manifested. Darkness and shadow abilities amplified by one hundred fifty percent.
Asura Demon Transformation—CRACK, GROW—horns curving upward from his temples, black with dark red veins. His body density increased—GROAN—muscles swelling, bones thickening. Demonic energy coated his form in a dark shimmer. Physical stats boosted by 80%.
His hair turned white—COLOR—the Astraeon bloodline responding to the dual transformation. His eyes shifted to silver—GLOW—twin points of cold light in the dark visor of his Fiend armor. The combined aura of both transformations, both bloodlines, both intents, and the Void Core created a pressure wave that cracked the chamber floor—CRACK—and sent dust cascading from the ceiling.
The two figures faced each other. Five meters of ancient Asura Demon against two meters of hybrid Astraeon-Asura royalty. Both radiating power that distorted the air around them.
Kael looked at Draxos through his visor. His voice, layered with the resonance of two bloodlines and two intents, carried across the destroyed chamber.
"Now, we’re on the same footing."
