Chapter 738: Chapter 738: Tearing Off Her Skin (2)

Crystal Quinn was determined to curry favor with Susan Caldwell, so she declared loudly, "I’ll tell everyone what happened! That day, Susan clearly saw you tail that guy all the way into the cafeteria. Then you knocked him out, and as soon as he was unconscious, you started feeling him up all over!"

She paused, then gave a cold smirk. "Vera Xavier, just how desperate are you to attack a guy in the middle of a busy school cafeteria? Someone like you doesn’t deserve to be at our school. Get out, now! We’re disgusted to even be your classmates!"

The moment she finished speaking, the other girls behind her chimed in, "Get out of the school! We don’t want to be your classmates!"

"Trash! Vera Xavier, you’re morally corrupt! Get out!"

"Uphold school discipline! Vera Xavier’s character is vile! If she’s not expelled, she’ll corrupt the entire student body!"

Vera Xavier scanned her surroundings and was surprised to find that their words had resonated with many other students. Behind them stood several dozen girls, all looking filled with righteous indignation.

The boys training nearby had clearly heard what was going on. They were craning their necks to watch, but their attitude was different from the girls’. As they sized Vera Xavier up, their eyes held a hint of curiosity.

"Is that guy who got knocked out an idiot or something? If a girl that beautiful came on to me, I definitely wouldn’t resist. I’d cooperate fully!"

"This whole thing was obviously stirred up by someone. Just look at Vera Xavier. Does she look like someone with bad morals? I’d bet you anything she’s being framed!"

"This is the first time I’ve ever seen girls argue. Man, I always thought girls were gentle. Turns out they’re not gentle at all!"

Shane Caldwell heard the boys watching the scene as if it were some kind of show, and his brow furrowed slightly.

He had, of course, heard about the incident in the school cafeteria, but he hadn’t paid it much mind. Now, however, seeing this scene, he was inexplicably reminded of when Cara Preston used to target Vera Xavier back at No. 1 High School.

Shane then recalled the question Susan had asked him last time at the Caldwell family home. A strange feeling welled up inside him, and his gaze shifted to Susan.

In his view, with someone of Susan’s status, even if Vera Xavier were outstanding, she shouldn’t be able to affect Susan, let alone make Susan so fixated on her.

Unless... Susan and Vera Xavier had some sort of grudge before school started. Just then, Susan happened to turn her head, and her normally delicate face, as it turned, revealed a hint of cruelty from his vantage point.

He felt as if he had seen that cruel expression before, but for the life of him, he couldn’t remember where.

Susan Caldwell was very pleased with the crowd’s reaction. ’Looks like my efforts over this period haven’t been in vain,’ she thought. ’Even without Laura White’s help today, Vera Xavier’s reputation will be in tatters.’

So she let out a soft sigh and said, "Vera Xavier, you may have gotten into this school with perfect scores in every subject, but you still need to watch your words and actions. What you’ve done is truly a smear on our school’s name."

Vera Xavier remained as calm as ever. "Classmate Susan Caldwell, you claim I’m smearing our school’s name. Please, show me the evidence. Baseless accusations don’t count for anything."

Seeing Vera Xavier’s composed expression, the corners of Susan Caldwell’s mouth turned cold. Ever since she had known Vera, it seemed she always wore this same unruffled look. ’God knows how much I hate that look on her face.’
