Chapter 736: Chapter 736: A Romantic Debt (6)
Susan Caldwell frowned at the sight, a hint of confusion in her eyes. She and Laura White had previously formed an alliance, though she had kept it extremely secret.
Just yesterday, she and Laura White had reached an agreement. They planned to team up against Vera Xavier during today’s training and teach her a lesson she would never forget. However, she never expected that Laura would be eliminated today!
Susan Caldwell glanced from Laura White to Vera Xavier. She had a nagging feeling that this had something to do with Vera, but not many people knew what had happened last night, so she wasn’t clear on the details.
But regardless of whether Laura White would cooperate with her today, she was going to do what she had set out to do.
Thanks to her machinations, during the break today, the other girls were all staring at Vera Xavier and whispering among themselves. They were all talking about the incident in the cafeteria, saying how shameless Vera was.
A few days ago, there had been many versions of this story. But now, after brewing and fermenting for the better part of a month, the other versions had faded away. The only one that remained was the one where Vera, in her shamelessness, knocked a boy unconscious and forcibly kissed him.
It had to be said, Susan Caldwell’s methods were quite efficient. With Laura White’s cooperation and Autumn Rhodes’s help, Vera Xavier’s shameless reputation had spread not just among the freshmen, but to the upperclassmen as well.
Vera Xavier looked at Susan Caldwell, whose eyes glinted with triumph. Susan shot her a provocative smile. Even if Laura White couldn’t help her beat Vera up today, she would still carry out the rest of her plan.
Even if she couldn’t get Vera Xavier expelled from the university today, she would absolutely destroy her reputation!
Seeing her expression, Vera Xavier looked slightly troubled. ’This seems to be happening a little earlier than I expected,’ she thought, ’but it won’t have a major impact.’
’Susan Caldwell wants to destroy my reputation? Heh, this is truly getting interesting!’
Vera Xavier maintained her calm composure, not even bothering to spare Susan Caldwell another glance.
Crystal Quinn, followed by a few other girls, stomped menacingly up to Vera Xavier. "Vera Xavier, you’re a disgrace! Get out of our university!"
Vera Xavier asked her, "You say I’m a disgrace. Do you have any proof?"
"Don’t think you can get away with the violent stunt you pulled on that boy in the cafeteria just because he’s too embarrassed to press the issue! Do you really think you can escape the eyes of justice?" Crystal Quinn said aggressively.
Laura White had just come from the Dean’s Office, having finished writing a self-criticism. She happened to see Crystal Quinn starting trouble with Vera Xavier, and in that moment, much of the frustration pent up inside her dissipated. ’Heh,’ she thought, ’it won’t be long before someone is joining me in my misery.’
At this moment, she actually felt a pang of regret. ’How could I have been so blind,’ she wondered, ’to think that Susan Caldwell was more ruthless than Vera Xavier, and therefore more formidable?’
She decided to stay put and watch the drama unfold.
Humans are strange creatures. After being wronged, they actually hope to see others fall into the same trap, just to make themselves feel a little more balanced.
She had been incredibly frustrated when Vera Xavier had dealt with her yesterday, and she’d realized her next four years of university might not be so easy. But after thinking it over all night, she had actually calmed down.
When she wasn’t provoked, Vera Xavier seemed gentle and unassuming; you’d never think she was particularly formidable. But the moment you crossed one of her lines, her power level would instantly skyrocket!
