Occasionally, Skylar would recommend several menus of sushi rolls to Sienna as though he were introducing her to a restaurant she had never visited before, and she happily played along each time.

"This one with smoked salmon eggs is also good, Mom."

"Oh? Are you sure?"

"Very sure."

"What if you’re secretly trying to steal the best one after I eat it?"

Skylar gasped dramatically. "Mom, I would never do that."

"You wouldn’t?"

"I already ate the best one. I always eat the best one first. And I’m not going to keep it a secret. I just tell it after the fact."

Sienna looked at him in disbelief before shaking her head with a smile.

"Oh, big words for such a young boy! Smart! So that’s your strategy."

He grinned mischievously. "It worked for me and everyone else."

Before either of them realized how full their stomachs were, most of the dishes on the table had disappeared.

Not long afterward, the waiter returned carrying their desserts. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

As Skylar had requested earlier, he received a silky caramel pudding topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Sienna ordered a banana split with vanilla and strawberry ice cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with chopped almonds.

Skylar happily dug into his pudding while Sienna slowly enjoyed her dessert.

After watching him finish nearly the entire bowl, Sienna smiled.

"Would you like anything else, sweetheart?"

Skylar gently shook his head. "No, Mom. My stomach is full."

"Are you sure?"

He nodded. "Besides, we still have to go to the sports store."

"You are right..." Sienna mile.

She had almost forgotten that buying basketball shoes was still on Skylar’s carefully planned shopping schedule.

"Alright. We’ll head there as soon as we finish our desserts."

"Okay."

A few more minutes passed as they quietly enjoyed the last bites of their desserts.

Once they had both finished, Sienna wiped her hands with a napkin before standing up.

"Sweetheart, ready to continue shopping?"

Skylar immediately jumped off his chair, smiling excitedly.

"Ready!"

Just as Sienna reached for her handbag and Skylar picked up his shopping bag, the VIP room door suddenly swung open without warning.

Both mother and son instinctively turned toward the entrance, surprised to see who had just walked into the room.

"Huh? Daddy!"

Skylar’s face instantly lit up with excitement the moment he saw who had entered the VIP room. Without another thought, he ran toward Zachary and wrapped his arms around his father’s legs.

Zachary smiled as he looked down at his son, then effortlessly lifted him into his arms.

"Buddy," he said warmly, "have you already eaten lunch?"

Skylar nodded enthusiastically.

"Yes! Mommy and I ate a lot."

"Oh?" Zachary raised an eyebrow. "A lot?"

Skylar nodded again. "I was helping Mommy finish all the food."

Zachary chuckled. "I see. So you were helping her finish her food too?"

"Yes..." Skylar nodded seriously.

As father and son continued chatting, Sienna remained where she was, quietly watching them.

A mixture of emotions filled her chest as she looked at her husband.

She felt relieved that he was finally here, and seeing him with Skylar always warmed her heart.

At the same time, she couldn’t ignore the confusion weighing on her mind. She wanted to speak to him, yet she had no idea how to begin. She tried to steady her thoughts, but the unpleasant encounter with Hannah Sterling and Jessica Simmons replayed in her mind before she could stop it.

The questions she had been trying to suppress came rushing back, one after another.

’Why did Jessica Simmons know about Skylar? Had she and Zachary met again after Skylar was born?’

’Why did Zachary’s mother seem so close to Jessica?’

’Did his family really want Zachary to marry Jessica Simmons?’

The questions lingered one after another, leaving an uncomfortable ache in her heart.

Sienna quietly shook her head, forcing herself to stop dwelling on them. This wasn’t the right time, especially not with Skylar standing between them.

Taking a slow breath, she composed herself before walking over.

She stopped beside Zachary and offered him a small smile.

Without saying a word, Zachary reached for her hand with his free hand and gently squeezed it.

The simple gesture immediately calmed her.

For a brief moment, his eyes searched hers, silently checking whether she was alright before he spoke.

"Have you two finished lunch?"

"Yes," Sienna answered with a smile. "We just finished. We were about to go to the sports store. Sky needs a new pair of basketball shoes, and I was planning to buy a pair of running shoes."

"Alright," Zachary replied. "Let’s go together."

His calm tone made it sound as though nothing unusual had happened that afternoon.

Sienna nodded and walked beside him as they headed toward the door.

Although she wanted to ask him about his mother, about Jessica, and about everything that had happened at the photography store, she held herself back. Skylar was with them, and she didn’t want him listening to an uncomfortable conversation.

She decided it could wait until they were alone.

They had almost reached the doorway when Skylar suddenly remembered something.

"Daddy," he said innocently, "we met Granny today."

Zachary stopped just before stepping out of the room.

Still holding Skylar in one arm, he slowly turned to look at his son.

Sienna instinctively lifted her eyes toward her husband. She caught the subtle tightening of his jaw. It lasted only a brief moment before his expression returned to its usual calm, but she noticed it all the same.

"Oh?" Zachary asked gently. "Really?"

Skylar nodded. His cheerful expression gradually disappeared. "But Granny scolded Mommy."

His small face became more serious as he continued.

"And she brought another aunty."

He frowned as though the memory still bothered him.

"Granny said that aunty would become my new mommy."

He looked at Zachary with complete sincerity.

"But dad, I already have my mommy, and I don’t want another."

The room fell quiet.

Sienna pressed her lips together, trying very hard not to smile, let alone giggle.

Part of her felt sorry that Skylar had to go through such an awkward situation. Still, another part couldn’t help but feel relieved that she didn’t have to explain everything herself.

Her little boy had summarized the entire incident in just a few simple sentences. Now she was genuinely curious to hear Zachary’s response.
