The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1355 - 1295: Sixth Master, Got into Trouble (2)
"In Ancient Orienta, cutting one’s hair was like being beheaded..."
Adrian Desmond retorted, "Isn’t this modern times? In the past, you also had polygamy, why don’t you talk about that."
"Sixth Master, we’ve been together for almost seven years, right?" Sienna Johnson suddenly said.
"What’s wrong with seven years?"
"The seven-year itch...
When a man reaches the seventh year, he becomes restless, itching to hook up with other women...
Polygamy, Sixth Master still thinks I should let you have more wives, right? Which woman has caught your eye, planning to bring her home?"
Sienna said slowly, with a tone and gaze that made Adrian Desmond’s heart tremble.
This is a matter of principle, Adrian Desmond can’t afford to answer it wrong.
This woman doesn’t allow any sand in her eyes, so Adrian immediately stated, "No! I’m not itchy at all. I think we’re doing great now. I haven’t looked at any other woman, I’ve only got eyes for you."
Sienna laughed out loud, "Just teasing you."
Adrian: ...
"Get out."
"Huh?"
"Aren’t you taking Curly horseback riding today? It’s not early, get Curly up, have some breakfast, and take him riding. Be back by noon, I’ll make you something good."
Adrian felt something was off, but since Sienna wasn’t angry anymore, he was relieved.
"Then I’m leaving." Adrian glanced at her hair and sheepishly looked away.
"Mm." Sienna was unbraiding the remaining braids in front of the mirror.
Adrian gave her a kiss goodbye and reluctantly left.
...
At the racecourse.
The racecourse was outdoors, and it was cold with piles of thick snow that made the place even colder.
"Are you all cold? If you are, we can head back," Adrian asked.
"Not cold, not at all." Curly said excitedly.
George and Dylan were riding ponies, so they each rode alone, while Curly was on a thoroughbred, which had a wild temperament, so Adrian and Curly rode together on a horse.
"Dad, make Blackie go faster."
Blackie was the name Curly gave the thoroughbred. Curly’s Persian cat was called Snowy, and George figured if they ever had kids, they couldn’t let Curly name them.
They’re Asian, after all. They couldn’t have their child called Yellow, could they?
Adrian, however, kept being distracted.
When a couple lives together for a long time, they can easily notice flaws in each other.
So, if one partner cheats and the other doesn’t notice for a long time, it means they never truly bonded.
"Ah..." Curly suddenly screamed and fell off the horse, Adrian looked down, scared out of his wits.
"Curly!"
The horse wasn’t slow. Adrian reached out to grab but was a step too late, and Curly fell to the ground.
To avoid Curly being trampled by the horse’s hooves, Adrian yanked the reins hard, causing the horse to fall in the opposite direction of Curly. The horse neighed as one of Adrian’s legs was pinned down. Luckily, Curly wasn’t kicked or stomped.
If his daughter, with her small frame, got kicked or stomped by the horse’s hooves, it would be serious.
Adrian pulled out his leg and limped toward his daughter, asking, "Curly, are you okay? Where did you get hurt?"
Not sure if there was any bone injury, Adrian didn’t dare to move her recklessly.
Curly was frightened, and only now realized, muttering, "I’m a man, I’m not afraid of pain, I won’t cry..."
She probably hurt herself, even though she said that, tears welled up in Curly’s eyes.
George witnessed the entire process of Curly falling from the horse. If it wasn’t for Adrian’s quick reaction, if the horse stomped on Curly, her little life would be in danger.
"Curly, where does it hurt?" George asked worriedly.
"I think... it all hurts." Curly looked at her father, unable to hold back, burst into tears, "Oh, mom, it hurts so much, it’s killing me... sob sob..."
Adrian called for a doctor. He carefully checked on Curly. Fortunately, it was winter, and she was dressed warmly. If it were summer, she’d surely have scraped her skin.
George and Dylan hovered around her, watching as Curly cried with a runny nose and tears.
George wiped her tears and comforted her, "Curly, if it really hurts, just cry. When you let it out, it won’t hurt as much."
"Even if I cry, it still hurts..."
Adrian was filled with guilt. Horseback riding was inherently dangerous, how could he get distracted when riding with his daughter?
The doctor arrived, carrying a medical kit.
The doctor examined Curly and said, "Nothing serious, just a bit of a scare."
The location was in the suburb, and the doctor was rather junior. Adrian frowned, looking at his unprofessional demeanor, not quite trusting his diagnosis.
"My daughter just fell off the horse, how can there be nothing wrong? Do you even know how to diagnose?"
The doctor was also young and snappish, hating it when his skills were questioned. He packed away his medical kit and said, "If you trust someone, use them; if you don’t, don’t use them. Since you don’t trust my skills, go find someone else."
"What kind of attitude is that?" Adrian scolded.
"Whatever attitude you have, that’s the attitude you’ll get. I know you’re rich, does being rich make you great? Does being rich allow you to bully others?"
"..."
"I don’t even want the medical fees, just find someone else then."
The stable attendant saw the argument about to escalate and quickly stepped in to mediate, calming down the situation.
"Mr. Desmond, Dr. Blake is really skilled. Whenever anyone here falls ill, they go to him," said the stable attendant.
Seeing that his daughter had no fractures or anything of that sort, Adrian dared to pick her up and take her to a larger hospital for a check-up, just to be sure.
...
Adrian drove for an hour to the city’s Children’s Hospital, thoroughly checked Curly inside and out, and sure enough, it matched what the young doctor had said.
Curly seemed to be recovering from the scare and started chirping away again, being her usual annoying self.
"Dad, don’t tell mom I fell off the horse. Mom’s so timid; if she finds out, she’ll definitely stop me from riding again."
"I know."
Since his daughter was fine, Adrian didn’t plan to tell Sienna about this either. If she found out, he wouldn’t find peace.
"Dad, I need to have some KFC to calm my nerves."
Adrian: ...
Sienna didn’t allow the kids to eat junk food. The father and daughter, along with George and Dylan, secretly went to have KFC, eating everything clean. The three kids reached a consensus not to breathe a word about the KFC.
Only then did the kids cheerfully head home.
"You fell off the horse, don’t let your mom find out," Adrian reiterated anxiously at the entrance of Cloudscape Mansion.
