In the dead of night, when it was darkest, Night Owl was still asleep when someone woke him up.

Night Owl was furious.

Lately there had been so much crap going on that Night Owl couldn’t sleep, tossing and turning till late. He’d finally managed to drift off, felt like he’d just closed his eyes, and then someone woke him.

"Something happened?" Night Owl’s tone was downright nasty.

Silicon said, "Master, Kiya is still alive. Adrian Desmond and Kiya have brought people in and are attacking."

"Wasn’t Kiya dead?" Night Owl frowned and asked.

Silicon lowered his head, not daring to look at Night Owl, because he had been the one sent to snipe Kiya. Now not only was Kiya still alive, he’d even led people in to storm the Imperial Palace. Silicon couldn’t dodge responsibility.

"The one who died wasn’t Kiya, it was a body double." Silicon answered in a low voice.

Night Owl drove his foot into Silicon’s stomach. Luckily Night Owl wasn’t wearing shoes, or with that kick Silicon would’ve been coughing blood.

"Useless trash!" Night Owl cursed.

Seeing Night Owl in a rage, Lithium stepped forward and reminded him, "Master, our men can’t hold out much longer. We should leave now."

Silicon also urged, "Master, Lithium’s right. Our men are getting slaughtered out there. I’m afraid if we don’t go now, they’ll break in."

The two only managed to get a sentence out before falling silent. Night Owl was autocratic; he wasn’t someone who listened to other people’s opinions.

The sounds of fighting outside were getting closer and closer. Night Owl knew if he kept hesitating, he’d probably be taken alive.

How could he possibly lose to Adrian Desmond like this?

Night Owl’s cold eyes narrowed slightly, and he quickly gave the order, "Lithium, go give the order, have them all pull back."

"Yes."

"Beryl..." Night Owl was about to give Beryl orders when he noticed Beryl wasn’t there. Night Owl asked, "Where’s Beryl?"

Silicon said, "Beryl was the first to notice Adrian Desmond and his men had stormed into the Imperial Palace. He told us to inform you, Master, and then ran out. I’m guessing he’s out there fighting Adrian’s people right now."

Night Owl said, "You and Beryl go bring Sienna Johnson over. We’ll rendezvous at the yacht by the docks."

"Yes."

Night Owl finished giving instructions in a rush, then quickly got dressed, planning to retreat.

Before he went to bed he’d still been worrying over whom to make the puppet Sultan. He hadn’t expected the Sultan to suddenly crawl out of his grave in the middle of the night.

Night Owl had been played, and his anger wouldn’t settle.

Everything he’d worked so hard to build had just been destroyed like this.

Right now the person Night Owl hated most was Gulit. If it weren’t for Gulit, none of this would have happened.

...

Silicon went out to look for Beryl, but the people outside were already seeing red, the place a chaotic mess. Silicon watched the black‑clad men move with frightening agility, each one holding a dagger. They leaped up and came down, and just like that, slit the throats of their own people.

"Bastards!"

Silicon grabbed his gun and, furious, fired at one of the black‑clad men. The man dropped instantly. The others around him spotted Silicon and swarmed toward him.

"We’ll kill you!"

Silicon fired bang bang at the black‑clad men, knowing that these guys with such lethal skills were Adrian Desmond’s men. Old and new grudges surged up all at once, every shot aimed right between their brows, killing with a single bullet.

The one who’d just been hit had gone down because he’d been unprepared. Now that they were ready, there was no way they’d be taken out so easily.

Four black‑clad men closed in from the four directions—east, west, south, and north. And just then Silicon’s pistol ran dry. He pulled out a knife, ready to go down fighting with them, when Beryl suddenly appeared.

"Move!"

"Beryl, where did you go?"

The one dragging Silicon as they sprinted wasn’t Beryl at all, but Sabrina Conner in disguise. Sabrina was reeking of blood, and of course the blood on her was Beryl’s.

Killing Beryl had cost Sabrina quite a bit of effort. But it was exactly that kind of opponent that made a fight interesting.

Sabrina was deeply fascinated by this undercover job.

"Ran into a really tough opponent. Took some doing to take him out." Sabrina explained.

"..."

"Where’s the Master now?" Sabrina asked.

The two reached a safer spot and stopped. Gunshots and screams roared in their ears. Silicon’s nerves were stretched tight; it never even occurred to him that "Beryl" beside him had been swapped out.

This was Adrian Desmond’s move: using the enemy’s own tricks against him.

Back then, Night Owl had used this same trick to kill "the King of Hell," and had even shoved a fake Sienna Johnson at Adrian Desmond... The King of Hell was Sabrina’s idol. If Sabrina didn’t kill Night Owl, she’d be letting the King of Hell down.

"The Master has already gone to the docks. The two of us are going to pick up Sienna Johnson and meet the Master at the docks." Silicon said, his back to Sabrina.

Sabrina lifted her brows. She hadn’t expected things to go this smoothly—without much effort at all, she was about to see Madam.

If she managed to find Madam, Sixth Master would have to give her one hell of a reward.

"Mm, let’s go." Sabrina urged.

The two of them threaded their way through the melee and ran toward the outside of the Imperial Palace. Sabrina was surprised—so Madam wasn’t in the palace at all.

No wonder their people hadn’t been able to find her.

Once they passed through the Palace gates, it was much quieter outside. Sabrina didn’t dare talk too much, afraid she’d give herself away, and just followed carefully behind Silicon, ready to kill him anytime once they’d found Sienna Johnson.

Silicon got hold of a car by the roadside. The two of them jumped in and sped off.

Sabrina asked, "Does the Master have a plan?"

"No idea."

Sabrina fell silent, watching the car race toward Lisau Mountain, trying to guess where exactly Sienna Johnson was being held.

Silicon didn’t like Sienna Johnson and said, "I really don’t get what’s so good about that Sienna Johnson, that she’s managed to have the Master so completely bewitched."

"Oh, she’s pretty."

Men all like beautiful women. No matter how unlikeable Sienna Johnson was, at least she was easy on the eyes.

"Master doesn’t exactly lack beautiful women around him, does he?"

"But except for Sienna Johnson, not a single pretty woman doesn’t like the Master. Maybe it’s that once you have something, it’s not worth much anymore. What you can’t have is the real treasure."

Silicon turned and glanced at Sabrina, saying, "You don’t usually talk much. Didn’t expect that when you do, you actually make some sense."

"How much farther?" Sabrina asked.

Silicon shot Sabrina a look and asked, "Haven’t you made this trip a bunch of times? How do you still not know how far it is?"

"Got whacked on the head just now. I’m all fuzzy. I’m guessing I’ve got amnesia."

Silicon laughed. "Beryl, you’re acting a little weird today."

"What’s weird about me?" Sabrina asked, sounding perfectly natural.

"Beryl, you never joke around."

"I’m not joking. Everything I said just now is true."

Silicon sized "Beryl" up without giving anything away, feeling that there was something off about him, though he couldn’t say exactly what.

Suddenly a sharp pain shot through Silicon’s abdomen. He slammed on the brakes and brought the car to a halt.

"What’s wrong with you?"

"My stomach suddenly hurts like hell."
