Chapter 1240 - 1180: Searching (3)

The police weren’t as thorough as Adrian Desmond’s people, and later on, they just glanced into each room. Adrian was dissatisfied with them, but he didn’t show it.

In recent years, Adrian’s temper had mellowed a lot, though Sienna Johnson still said he had a bad temper. In fact, he was much better now.

"Thank you for your hard work today. You all can go now. I’ll keep searching," Adrian said politely.

Marion, who was listening on the side, felt a bit uncomfortable. In Abyanabad, these police officers would defer to Sixth Master, nothing like now, as these officers acted condescendingly and completely disregarded him.

"Protecting the safety of citizens is our duty," Officer Carter said righteously.

"Finn, tell everyone to get ready to withdraw," Officer Carter ordered a junior officer who was walking by.

"Yes, Officer Carter!"

They had been wanting to leave for a while now since it was almost 11 p.m. and they hadn’t even had dinner yet.

Finn called out to everyone, saying, "No need to search anymore. Let’s go home."

Adrian’s expression was not good, but he didn’t say much.

"Sixth Master?"

"You don’t need to search anymore either. Station some people around the Hotel and don’t let anyone leave," Adrian instructed.

"Yes, Sixth Master."

...

At the Southeast Military Base, Claire Desmond had not woken up.

On the way, Claire’s breathing became weaker. Alton Young found a military doctor to examine her. Alton had a good personal relationship with the military doctor, so he dared to call him over.

Alton now felt like he was on a pirate ship he couldn’t get off.

The military doctor saw the tiny baby quietly sleeping, her face slightly pale, and was taken aback,

"Why is there a baby here? Is she your illegitimate daughter?"

Alton replied, "I wouldn’t be so lucky to have such a beautiful daughter. Look at her quickly. That brat Kevin Taylor injected her with a dose fit for an adult, which can lead to a coma... On the way, I noticed her breathing getting shallower..."

"..."

Sweating all over, Alton worriedly asked, "You don’t think she’ll die, do you?"

"..."

Alton wiped the sweat off his forehead and said, "Dr. Jones, you must save her; don’t let anything happen to her. This little girl’s family background is not ordinary, and if something happened, money wouldn’t settle it."

The military doctor came over to examine the little baby and noticed something wrong; her breathing was indeed very shallow. If you don’t observe closely, you can’t see it at all.

He took a flashlight and checked the baby’s eyes; her eyes rolled back, and Dr. Jones immediately knew things were bad.

"Take her to the Children’s Hospital immediately!" Dr. Jones said.

At this point, how could Alton possibly take her to the Children’s Hospital? The police were probably looking for her too, and once there, how would he explain the situation?

"You know how Kevin Taylor is; if we took this child to the Children’s Hospital, wouldn’t that expose us?"

Dr. Jones disagreed and said, "I’ll be honest with you, if you don’t send her to the Children’s Hospital and start treating her quickly, she might die!"

"Is it that serious?"

"It is that serious!"

"..."

"Children of this age have a high mortality rate, and Kevin meddling like this with such potent injections would affect even adults. Giving it to such a tiny baby, are you out of your mind?"

Alton defended, "You don’t know how difficult that kid is to handle; even Old Master Taylor can’t control him, let alone me?

Now’s not the time to talk about this; you hurry up and treat her. If she really dies, we’re in trouble."

Alton pulled back Dr. Jones, who was about to leave, and pushed him to the bedside. Dr. Jones really regretted coming.

"I am not a pediatrician!"

"But you’re still a doctor."

Alton’s idea was straightforward: save the little girl, then send her back quietly, and everything would be fine.

Alton also vowed in his heart never to allow Kevin Taylor to continue his reckless behavior. When he returned, he wished that Old Master Taylor would give him a different job.

Serving Kevin Taylor was tougher than dealing with terrorist organizations.

Speak of the devil, Kevin Taylor, the troublemaker, appeared. Kevin glanced at Claire on the bed and asked, "Why is she still sleeping?"

Alton replied irritably, "Isn’t it because you injected her with the drug?"

"Wasn’t it supposed to make her sleep for just an hour or two? Why has she been sleeping for five hours?" Kevin asked in surprise.

Alton had no time to deal with this brat, focusing on urging Dr. Jones to save Claire. Dr. Jones also realized that he was on a pirate ship, and steeled himself to treat Claire.

Old Master Taylor, dressed in his military uniform, entered the treatment room with authority. Upon seeing him, Alton’s legs turned weak, finding Kevin’s composure enviable.

"Grandfather, why are you at the base?" Kevin asked calmly, to which Alton admired him, wondering how he wasn’t afraid after creating such a big mess.

Old Master Taylor’s gaze was no longer loving or doting but sharp, his eyes sweeping across the treatment room before stopping on Claire.

In just one glance, Alton knew the matter was exposed.

Sally saw Claire and rushed over, "Claire..."

Annan Briggs looked at Claire on the bed, as if seeing his little sister; Claire looked a lot like young Pauline Briggs.

"Brother Annan, is this the child?" old Master Taylor asked.

"Yes." Annan Briggs noticed the child wasn’t looking well and asked, "What did you do to her? Why does she look so bad?"

A matter of life and death, Dr. Jones dared not conceal it for Alton any longer and said, "She was injected with adult doses of sedatives and sleeping drugs, and now her life is at risk. I recommend you take her to the Children’s Hospital immediately."

"What?"

Sally fiercely glared at Kevin, picked up the unconscious Claire, and ran out. Old Master Taylor didn’t expect the situation to be this serious.

"Alton, what’s going on?"

Alton certainly couldn’t say it was Kevin’s doing, so he took the blame himself, "General, it’s all my fault; punish me."

Kevin bravely stepped up and said, "I’m the one who injected her."

Annan Briggs, who was nearby, went livid upon hearing this, but Kevin was Old Master Taylor’s grandson; otherwise, he might have wanted to give him a good beating.

"How could you do such a thing?"

"She kept crying, I just wanted her to be quiet."

"She’s still a baby, you can’t just inject drugs into her..." General Taylor shook his head, disappointed in his grandson.

"..."

"Kevin, you’ve really let me down."

Sally was blocked by Kevin’s bodyguards at the door and furiously said, "Get out of my way!"
