"We’re all family here, talking like that is too polite." The old lady looked at Sienna Johnson with loving eyes.

"Grandma, then I won’t say anything more, but I’ll remember all the kindness everyone’s shown me."

Sienna wasn’t someone who forgot her roots; when others treated her well, she would repay them double.

Pauline Briggs said, "Mom, Sister-in-law, Second Sister-in-law, my daughter has suffered too much since she was a child. No matter how many people dote on her, it’s never too much."

Rebecca said, "Don’t worry, we’ll all dote on her."

Sally came over and said softly to Sienna, "Madam, someone from the Jones Family is here."

"Oh?"

Not only Sienna, but everyone else also had their attention drawn over. Sienna said, "Grandma, Aunt, this matter does have something to do with me. I’d like to go take a look."

The old lady said, "We’ll go have a look too."

Everyone had only eaten half their meal and already lost their appetite, so they all went to the Briggs Family’s reception hall.

When Sienna helped the old lady inside, she saw Grandpa Jones, Madison Jones’s grandfather, Bernard Jones.

There were also two men in their fifties beside Bernard, both resembling him somewhat. If Sienna guessed correctly, they should be Bernard’s sons, and one of them was Madison’s father.

This time, the one checking the accounts of Sienna’s company and the Pharmaceutical factory’s quality issues was exactly Madison’s father.

"Grandpa, Uncle..." As soon as Sienna entered, she greeted everyone. Her voice was gentle, and she carried herself with poise.

"Sienna, come, sit by Grandpa."

"Mm."

Sienna helped the old lady sit down next to Grandpa Briggs, then sat on his right-hand side.

Bernard looked at Sienna, a flash of coldness passing through his eyes. Sienna pretended not to see it and asked Grandpa Briggs, "Grandpa, who are these gentlemen?"

Grandpa Briggs introduced, "This is your Grandpa Jones, and the two beside him are his two sons. Just call them Uncle."

Grandpa Jones’s two sons were old enough to be Sienna’s grandfathers, but because of her seniority in the Briggs Family, she still called them Uncle.

Sienna greeted with composure, "Hello, Grandpa Jones, hello, Uncles."

Grandpa Jones squinted his eyes with a smile as he looked at Sienna. "Old Briggs, this is your granddaughter?"

"That’s right."

"She’s as pretty as your daughter."

Grandpa Briggs said, without the slightest modesty, "I’m not bragging, but my daughter and my granddaughter’s looks put those big stars to shame."

He looked at Pauline and Sienna. Pauline had been beautiful since she was little, and Grandpa Briggs was afraid someone would kidnap her, so there were always four or five people around her.

Grandpa Jones curled his lips. Seeing Old Briggs starting to show off his daughter again, he quickly cut him off, "Old Briggs, what exactly did you call me here for this time?"

Grandpa Briggs picked up his teacup, used the lid to push aside the tea leaves floating on top, took a sip, and then said leisurely,

"Oh, it’s like this. My granddaughter heard people say that your Jones Family has been checking her company’s tax payments. When you couldn’t find any tax evasion, you started checking Eastminster Pharmaceutical Factory’s drug quality issues.

My granddaughter is still a young girl after all, hasn’t gone through many big storms, and she was worried she’d somehow offended the Jones Family, so you started tripping her up."

"I..." Bernard had just opened his mouth when Grandpa Briggs continued with a smile, "...I told her, who is your Grandpa Jones?

He’s a man of integrity and selflessness. Whether he’s checking Eastminster Group’s tax situation or Eastminster Pharmaceutical Factory’s drug quality issues, it’s all because he cares about you and wants to protect you."

Bernard Jones: ...

"But this girl refused to believe me, insisting she must have offended you and that you were deliberately targeting her.

Old Jones, why don’t you explain it to my granddaughter—why are you auditing her company’s books? And why are you investigating her Pharmaceutical factory’s drug quality issues?"

Sly old Grandpa Briggs put a tall hat on the other side right from the start, leaving Old Jones with nothing to say.

What could Old Jones say?

The Briggs Family’s influence was right there for all to see. Grandpa Briggs’s second wife, Fraidy Young, was from Southwood City, and the Young Family practically controlled the entire judicial system there. If he offended the Youngs and they decided to make trouble for him, it would be enough of a headache.

Officials had enormous privileges, but also many concerns. If someone really wanted to bring him down, he would definitely suffer.

Seeing that Old Jones didn’t answer and not knowing what he was thinking, Sienna spoke up, "Grandpa Jones, I’m young and inexperienced. If I’ve offended you anywhere, you can just teach me a lesson directly."

Just then, Sally rushed in, panic written all over her face. She said loudly, "Madam, something’s wrong. Ivy Evans’s mother barged in and said she’s going to kill you."

"What?"

Pauline shot to her feet and said to Sienna, "Sienna, hurry and hide for a bit. If that crazy woman runs into you, what are we supposed to do? You’re pregnant with twins right now."

Sienna asked, "Where is she now?"

"Melly and the Briggs Family’s people stopped her," Sally said.

Pauline collapsed back into her chair and began to cry. "Madison, what on earth does she want? Clearly it was Ivy Evans who’s shameless, yet she insists it’s Sienna’s fault... Sienna has been kind-hearted since she was little; how could she possibly do something like that?"

Grandpa Briggs said to Sally, "A guest is a guest. How can you keep her outside? Go, bring her in."

Sally glanced at Sienna, waiting for her instructions. Sienna gave her a small nod, and Sally went to bring the person in.

Sienna lowered her head, a faint smile slipping across her lips. Madison really lived up to expectations; once she heard Sienna had come to complain, she chased her right over.

Good, the real show was still to come!

Sally and Melly led a furious Madison in. Sally and Melly came to stand beside Sienna, fully on guard.

When Madison saw Sienna, her gaze was like a knife stabbing into Sienna’s body.

"Sienna Johnson, you’ve got some nerve, actually having the face to complain to my grandpa."

"..."

"You’re the thief crying ’Stop, thief!’ Have you no shame?"

Compared to Madison’s frantic anger, Sienna remained calm the whole time, even wearing a faintly innocent look on her face.

"Mrs. Evans, I think there must be some misunderstanding between us.

I had no intention of complaining. The reason I came to my Grandpa’s house was that I wanted him to bring both families together so we could lay everything out and talk it through," Sienna said, with reason and evidence.

Madison spat on the floor and cursed, "You little fox, one look at you and I can tell you’re no good, full of bad ideas.

Don’t think I don’t know what you said to my grandpa. Weren’t you just complaining to him, saying I had my dad check your company’s accounts..."

"Ahem..." Grandpa Jones fake-coughed, stopping Madison from continuing. "Madison, calm down."
