The Arsenal King of The Slave World
Chapter 33 — Farewell and Forward
The private meeting finally came to an end.
Ren and Lyra left the luxurious inn under the quiet gaze of the night. Silvia remained behind for a short while longer to settle a few final matters with the princess, but the weight of everything that had been said followed the two of them through the dim streets. The town felt quieter than usual. Lantern light flickered against stone walls, and the occasional night patrol passed by without giving them a second glance.
When they returned to their modest inn and closed the door of their room, the silence between them lasted only a few seconds.
Lyra sat down on the edge of the bed and let out a long breath. She reached up and began loosening the ties of her cloak, her brown-dyed hair falling forward.
“That was… a lot,” she said quietly.
Ren locked the door, checked the window, then sat down across from her. His expression was calm, but his eyes carried the sharpness of someone still arranging pieces on an internal board.
“It was,” he agreed. “We walked in as watched targets. We walked out with an alliance, an island, and a new companion.”
Lyra’s crimson eyes lifted to meet his.
“Do you trust her?”
“No,” Ren answered without hesitation. “Not completely. She needs us more than we need her right now, and that makes her reliable for the moment. But she is still a princess fighting for a throne. Her priorities will always include her own power. We work with her because our goals overlap. Nothing more.”
Lyra nodded slowly. Her fingers tightened slightly in her lap.
“And Silvia?”
“She is different,” Ren said after a short pause. “She is not coming as a spy. At least, not anymore. She is coming for her own revenge. That kind of motivation is easier to understand… and easier to control. As long as she follows my orders and stays loyal to the party, she can stay.”
They sat in silence for a while. The events of the evening — the documents, the truth about Lyra’s brother, the island, the new companion — settled between them like heavy stones dropped into still water.
Eventually Ren spoke again.
“Tomorrow we collect the documents from the princess. After that, we leave this town. First stop is the Beast Nation. We deliver the letter and the evidence to their king. Once that is done, we head straight to the island.”
Lyra looked at him carefully.
“And then?”
“Then we start building,” Ren replied. “I will train you and Silvia properly. Not as adventurers who fight alone, but as soldiers who can fight as a unit. If we find more people later — survivors from your tribe, freed slaves, anyone willing and capable — we train them too. The island will become our base. With the system and the Territorial Commander path, we can turn that monster-filled land into something real. A military foundation. A place no kingdom can easily touch.”
Lyra was quiet for a long moment. Then a small, determined light appeared in her eyes.
“Alright. I will follow you.”
Ren reached out and briefly rested his hand over hers.
“Get some rest. Tomorrow will be long.”
That night, for the first time in several days, both of them slept without the immediate weight of hidden watchers pressing against the windows. It was not peaceful sleep, but it was necessary.
---
Morning arrived clear and cool.
By ten o’clock, Ren and Lyra had already packed their belongings and left the modest inn. Silvia joined them on the way, now dressed in practical travel clothes rather than the darker attire she had worn as a shadow. Her silver-white hair was tied back, and her expression was composed, though a faint tension lingered around her eyes.
Together the three of them walked to the location where Seraphina was waiting.
The princess looked as refined as the night before, though faint signs of a sleepless night showed in the slight shadow beneath her eyes. On the table before her lay three carefully prepared sets of documents.
“The official letter to the King of Fenrisgard,” she said, handing the first sealed package to Ren. “It contains a full explanation of the conspiracy and my formal proposal for peace.”
She then placed a second document in front of Lyra.
“The complete annulment of your slave contract. From this moment, under the law of Valdoria, you are a free commoner. No one may claim ownership over you again through that contract.”
Finally, she pushed forward a thicker set of papers bound with a dark ribbon.
“The deed to the island. It is now under your name, Ren. Valdoria holds no further claim.”
Ren accepted the documents and stored them carefully.
A short silence followed.
Silvia stepped forward and lowered her head toward Seraphina. The gesture was deep and sincere.
“Thank you… for everything,” she said quietly. “For your mother’s kindness. And for keeping her promise.”
Seraphina’s composed mask softened for a brief moment. She reached out and lightly touched Silvia’s arm.
“You have protected me for many years. Now it is time you protect your own future. Do not die before you finish what you set out to do.”
“I will not,” Silvia answered.
Seraphina then turned to Ren.
“How will I contact you in the future?”
Ren met her gaze steadily.
“We will go to the Beast Nation first. After that, we head to the island. If you need to reach us, send people there. If our cooperation continues and trust grows further, we can establish a faster method of contact later — something closer to instant communication. But that will depend on how this relationship develops.”
He paused, then added one more condition.
“There is something you can do in the meantime. Search for any remaining survivors of the Silver Wolf Tribe. If you find them, send them to the island. We will take them in and train them. You may also send physically capable people who have been forced into slavery and want a real chance to reclaim their lives. I will decide who stays and who does not.”
Seraphina studied him for a moment, then nodded.
“I will do what I can.”
There was nothing more that needed to be said.
Ren, Lyra, and Silvia left the building together. The morning sun was already climbing higher as they walked through the streets toward the western edge of the town. A few townsfolk glanced at the unusual trio — a calm human man, a brown-haired woman with hidden beast features, and a striking silver-haired Dark Elf — but no one stopped them.
At the gate, the guards gave only a cursory check before waving them through.
Beyond the walls, the road stretched toward the forest path that would eventually lead them to the distant border. The air smelled of grass and earth. Behind them lay the quiet town, the luxurious inn, and a princess who had just traded a worthless island for a chance at the throne.
Ahead of them lay the Beast Nation, a letter that could change the course of a war, and an island filled with monsters that would become the foundation of something entirely new.
Ren adjusted the strap of his bag and started walking.
Lyra moved up beside him. Silvia followed a step behind, her violet eyes turning once toward the town they were leaving before facing forward again.
The next stage of their journey had begun.
