That's How We Necromancers Do Things

Chapter 415 - 136: Mama! You Are All My Good Mamas~

  • Next Chapter

The dense Abyssal Demonic Qi roiling within its mouth was enough to instantly corrupt the soul of a Legend.

But just then, the situation took an unexpected turn.

"I've been waiting for you."

The Moon Priestess's cool voice suddenly rang out.

Her voice no longer held the slightest trace of weakness.

BOOM—!

The Moon Priestess struck her seemingly broken scepter downward, and it erupted with a blinding silver brilliance, its searing light like that of a bright moon hanging high in the sky.

Simultaneously.

A cage of moonlight descended from the heavens, trapping Brutalus's remnant soul within.

"What?!" Brutalus's remnant soul cried out in shock. It hastily transformed into a black mist and began furiously slamming against the moonlight cage, sending ripples across its surface. "Impossible! You were clearly..."

"On my last legs?" the Moon Priestess sneered, the hatred in her eyes as cold and sharp as ice. "Brutalus, thousands of years have passed, yet you're still as foolish and arrogant as ever."

"Oh? Hehe~" a languid chuckle echoed from the other side. "You didn't truly believe I would fight to the death with my child's other mother, did you?"

Pale Elegy's figure had appeared behind Brutalus at some unknown point.

She no longer looked wretched or weak in the slightest.

Not only was her tattered and torn court dress pristine once more, but even the previously broken ribs of her parasol had been perfectly restored. The blood-red tassels dangling from its edge swayed without a wind, as if it had never been damaged at all.

With a gentle wave of her parasol, countless blood-red chains snaked out from the void. They coiled around Brutalus's remnant soul like vipers, working in tandem with the moonlight cage to pin it firmly in place.

"No! You plotted against me!?" Brutalus's remnant soul struggled frantically, the Abyssal Demonic Qi within its Soul Body surging violently as its resentment boiled over. "Release me! I am an Abyss Demon Lord! I am Brutalus!"

"Noisy."

Lynch slowly stepped out from behind the ruins. He looked at the massive remnant soul trapped by moonlight and blood chains and sneered. "Brutalus, is it? You're nothing now. Just a remnant soul!"

"Little mouse," Pale Elegy said languidly, "it's your turn. Elune and I can't hold it for long. This thing is an Abyss Demon Lord, after all. Even as a remnant soul, its struggles still pack a punch."

"Understood, Wang Ge's mother."

Not daring to delay, Lynch immediately sat cross-legged before the moonlight cage, formed a series of hand seals, and began furiously circulating the Profound Yin Body Tempering Spell.

In an instant, a ghostly white light emanated from his body, carrying an aura of ultimate, frigid yin. This was the Profound Yin Qi he had so painstakingly cultivated.

"Go!"

Lynch pointed a finger, and a tendril of Profound Yin Qi, so condensed it was almost tangible, shot out. It transformed into a long serpent that slithered into the moonlight cage and coiled around Brutalus's remnant soul.

"Aaargh! What the hell is this thing?!" Brutalus instantly let out a bloodcurdling scream.

Both Profound Yin Qi and Abyssal Demonic Qi were substances of ultimate yin, but their natures were completely different. Abyssal Demonic Qi was violent and chaotic, a force of destruction that tainted and destroyed everything it touched.

Profound Yin Qi, on the other hand, while frigid, was pure and clear, possessing numerous functions and limitless potential.

The Profound Yin Qi now clung to Brutalus's remnant soul like an incurable disease, slowly beginning to consume, break down, and convert the Abyssal Demonic Qi.

But the process was far more difficult than Lynch had imagined.

After all, Brutalus was an Abyss Demon Lord. Even as just a remnant soul, the Abyssal Demonic Qi contained within was terrifyingly dense.

For every bit of Demonic Qi Lynch's Profound Yin Qi managed to wear away, he had to expend ten times the effort. The Demonic Qi would even fight back like a living thing, surging back along the stream of Profound Yin Qi in an attempt to corrupt Lynch's own soul.

"Nngh!"

A tearing pain erupted from the depths of his soul. Lynch let out a muffled grunt as beads of cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

It felt as if someone was scraping the poison from his very bones with a blunt knife; each moment was agony that pierced to the marrow.

"Lynch." Seeing his state, a flicker of worry crossed the Moon Priestess's cool eyes. "If you can't do it, stop. If it comes to it, we can just destroy it."

"No." Lynch gritted his teeth, a fierce glint in his eyes. "I can do this. This thing's Abyssal Demonic Qi... it's all a treasure! I can't let it go to waste!"

He abruptly surged his Mana, and the Profound Yin Qi in his body gushed out like a tidal wave. But this time, instead of consuming its target bit by bit, the Profound Yin Qi transformed directly into a great net, enveloping Brutalus's entire remnant soul.

"Refine!"

Instantly, the ghostly white light flared, weaving together with the glow of the moonlight cage and the blood-red chains to create a scene that was as bizarre as it was magnificent.

The wails of Brutalus's remnant soul suddenly grew more shrill, so piercing it felt like a spike driving through one's skull.

It began to struggle even more frantically. The Abyssal Demonic Qi in its Soul Body churned violently like boiling water, attempting to break free of its bonds.

Lynch's face grew increasingly pale, and more and more cold sweat beaded on his forehead, trickling down the sides of his cheekbones.

"Hold on, little mouse. Like I said before, my money's on you." For once, Pale Elegy's languid expression was gone, her beautiful, faintly scarlet eyes fixed on Lynch. "We will help you suppress it."

The Moon Priestess said nothing, but the light from the scepter in her hand grew even more brilliant. The moonlight cage abruptly shrank, tightly confining Brutalus's struggles.
