Chapter 409: Chapter 135: It’s Over! The Two Mothers Have Finally Met

Besides, the battle for the Shadow Sanctuary had taken place at least four or five thousand years ago. The fact that these ghosts could still wander about was partly due to the environment, but it also proved they had all been powerful in their past lives—certainly not ordinary Soldiers.

Take Baring, for example. Lynch figured that in life, she must have been at least Tier Seven, or more likely Tier Eight or Nine—probably even a cut above Edmund, the current chief Magic Consultant of the North Wind Legion.

That was also why, even though this had been a battlefield for Abyssal Demons and ancient High Elves with a high concentration of powerful combatants, it was impossible for ghosts to be lurking around every corner.

Besides, even the souls of the powerful weren’t guaranteed to survive the fighting. Under the bombardment of some ultimate attacks, they could have been obliterated entirely.

And so, Baring wandered the ruins for a full half-hour, deliberately letting out an occasional soul-piercing shriek to attract enemies. Finally, she managed to lure over three Frenzied Ghosts.

"They’re here!"

Lynch’s eyes narrowed.

Among the three ghosts, the strongest one exuded a violent aura. Its Soul Body was black with a purple tinge, and its presence was overwhelmingly aggressive. It was a Tier Five, which meant it must have been an absolute beast when it was alive.

Lynch wasn’t alarmed by this; he was delighted. "Baring, tie up the Tier Five! Ghost Two, Ghost San, you hold back the other two! Avril, Sea Song, you help them!"

"Yes!"

Avril waved her Holy Light Scepter, and a curtain of golden light enveloped one of the Frenzied Ghosts.

The Holy Light Power was a natural counter to the Abyssal Demonic Qi. The ghost sizzled under the light and let out a piercing shriek.

Meanwhile, Sea Song formed a series of hand seals. Moonlight Power coalesced into silvery ribbons that wrapped around the other ghost, restricting its movements.

Her power as a Moon Priestess shared the same origin as these ruins, and its potency was significantly amplified here.

As for Lynch, he focused on dealing with the Tier Five boss Baring had entangled.

"True Soul Lash!"

"True Soul Harvesting!"

Coordinating with Baring’s containment, Lynch repeatedly swung his Raven Staff, accurately blasting the Tier Five ghost with a series of soul-based Magic spells.

Though the ghost was formidable, it gradually began to falter under the combined assault of Lynch and Baring.

Finally, with a roar that echoed through the soul dimension, the Tier Five ghost’s Soul Body completely disintegrated, transforming into a pitch-black, fist-sized Crystal Stone that clattered to the ground.

"Whoa, look at the size of this thing!"

Lynch’s eyes lit up. He quickly dealt with the two weaker ghosts in the same manner, harvesting two more, slightly smaller, Soul Crystals.

"Excellent! So much to show for just half a day’s work!" Lynch was very satisfied.

To others, these contaminated Soul Crystals would be next to useless, but for Lynch, who possessed the Profound Yin Body Refining Spell, their uses were practically endless.

He once again purified the Abyssal Demonic Qi from the Soul Crystals, and his own Profound Yin Qi grew by another wisp.

Of the Soul Crystals from this haul, he gave the largest one to Ghost Two, while Ghost San was allocated the two smaller ones.

After devouring this high-tier Soul Energy, the auras of Ghost Two and Ghost San surged, climbing steadily until both of them broke through, successfully advancing to become Tier Four ghosts.

However, unlike Baring, they were unable to manifest a physical form and remained in a vague, ghostly state. It seemed they would most likely need to reach Tier Five before they could condense a Soul Body.

But even so, Lynch was more than satisfied.

If he could keep getting returns like this, Lynch was willing to grind in this instance forever!

Of course, the dream was a beautiful one, but reality was cruel.

As Baring continued to wander the dark battlefield outside, repeating her tactic of letting out soul-piercing shrieks to awaken and attract the Frenzied Ghosts roaming the field...

Suddenly.

BOOM—!!

A terrifying aura erupted from the central region of the Ancient Battlefield’s ruins.

The aura was filled with all sorts of negative emotions—tyranny, mania, and more—as if it were the convergence of all the world’s malice.

As if provoked, the moment it awakened, the consciousness surged toward Baring like a tidal wave, instantly enveloping her.

The malicious consciousness even traced the mental link between Lynch and Baring, traveling up the connection to bear down directly on Lynch himself.

"Not good—"

Lynch’s expression changed. Just as he was about to order Baring to retreat and urgently sever their deep mental link, a piercing pain shot through the depths of his soul, as if he were being stabbed by countless needles.

His brow furrowed tightly, but he didn’t panic.

Since he had dared to explore the Ancient Battlefield outside the main ruins, he had naturally considered the possibility of a wild boss lurking within.

His only regret was that his luck was so bad he’d managed to disturb the boss this quickly.

’As for how to deal with this boss? That’s a no-brainer.’

’I’ve got backup, after all!’

"Your Grace, Mother, save me~~!" Lynch immediately screamed at the top of his lungs.

His voice echoed through the ruins, traveling far and wide in an instant.

The next moment.

"Sigh..."

A sigh as cool and clear as the bright moon sounded in Lynch’s ear.

At the same time, silver light rapidly gathered in Sea Song’s eyes, and in a flash, they turned a pure, shimmering silver, glowing like moonlight.

Her entire demeanor changed along with it, transforming in an instant from a gentle Maid to a majestic Moon Priestess.

With a casual lift of her hand, a vast wave of Moonlight Power enveloped Lynch, shielding him from the malicious consciousness.

The malicious consciousness instantly grew more frantic, furiously slamming against the Moonlight Barrier with arrogant abandon, as if to tear both the barrier and Lynch to shreds.

But just as the Song of Elune made her move, the Death Mark belonging to Pale Elegy, deep within Lynch’s soul, suddenly pulsed.

"Hm?"

A lazy hum, accompanied by a voice that could have been either pleased or angry, sounded from the depths of his soul.

"Little mouse, thou art bold indeed, daring to call me ’Your Grace, Mother’... Keh keh keh~~"

「Meanwhile.」

A terrifying consciousness from the Netherworld instantly crossed the planar barrier and descended upon this place.

Then, Mother Elegy’s "gaze" habitually swept the surroundings before landing directly on the Song of Elune, who was currently controlling Sea Song’s body.

The Song of Elune instantly sensed this consciousness from the Netherworld as well. She looked up sharply, her brow slowly furrowing.

The air seemed to freeze for an instant.

Even the ancient malice that had been arrogantly assaulting the Moonlight Barrier faltered, its momentum stalling as a trace of panic flickered through it.

Clearly, it hadn’t expected that the brat who dared disturb its slumber could summon two such terrifyingly powerful backers with a single shout.

However, if it was panicked, Lynch was even more so.

He had only meant to call for the Priestess Mother to save him, but he’d somehow ended up summoning Mother Elegy as well.

Both mothers had arrived at the same time, and this time, their gazes met...

’Damn it!’

Lynch felt his scalp tingle. This time, he was truly, utterly screwed!
