That's How We Necromancers Do Things
Chapter 400 - 134: Promotion! Lynch is Tier Three
Chapter 400: Chapter 134: Promotion! Lynch is Tier Three
Though Aus found the idea audacious, he still nodded. "Alright, I’ll go make the arrangements."
After a brief pause, he added worriedly, "Lord Lynch, I’m afraid this will offend the Holy Light Church. They might come looking for trouble later..."
"As a Necromancer, the Holy Light Church has already given me more than enough trouble," Lynch sneered. "I’ll write a letter to Legion Commander Jais and have him handle the pressure for me. Otherwise... don’t blame me, Lynch Blackwood, for taking the Ninth Battle Battalion and defecting to the Blue Scarf."
The moment he said this, the room erupted in an uproar.
Aus immediately fell silent.
He could tell that Lynch was genuinely furious. ’To say something like that... it means he’s prepared to confront the Holy Light Church head-on.’
"Meeting adjourned," Lynch said, rising to his feet. "Remember, Lakefront Town belongs to all of us. Its current state is not a gift from any god. I want every single person in Lakefront Town to know that it was their own labor and sacrifice that earned them everything they have now!"
"Yes, sir!" everyone responded in unison.
After the meeting, everyone went to their posts, and a vigorous campaign of ideological reform was soon launched throughout Lakefront Town.
Naturally, it began with Lakefront Academy.
Lynch personally oversaw an unconventional "ideological test" for the entire faculty.
The content of the test was simple—
Question: "Who created the prosperity of Lakefront Town?"
Anyone who answered "A gift from the Lord of Holy Light" or "The blessings of the gods" was immediately failed.
"You can either volunteer for labor re-education and experience life in the mining district for three months, or you can pack your things and leave," Lynch announced expressionlessly from the dean’s office.
For a time, panic spread throughout the academy.
A few teachers who had just been coasting by tried to argue, but Lynch had his Personal Guard directly "escort" them to the western ridge mining district.
The remaining teachers stayed up all night studying and researching the new textbooks jointly written by Lynch, Aus, and Albert—*Labor Creates Value*, *Human Will Triumphs Over Fate*, *Basic Mathematics*, *Basic Physics*, *Foundations of Alchemy*, and more.
"In addition to academic classes, we need to add physical education," Lynch said to Albert while looking over the curriculum. "Four hours every afternoon. Running, combat, and archery must all be practiced. Any promising candidates are to be sent directly to the garrison. Our Lakefront Town needs more Warriors."
"Yes, my lord," Albert said, wiping away his sweat as he quickly took notes.
Furthermore, Lynch posted notices in every corner of Lakefront Town and dispatched propaganda teams to go through the streets and alleys, explaining the concept of "Our Own Lakefront Town" in plain, easy-to-understand language—that the town was built by the hands of every Soldier, every artisan, and every farmer. It was not a gift from the gods, nor did it fall from the sky.
"Want a good life? Earn it yourself!"
This simple principle resonated strongly with the common folk, most of whom were former refugees.
After all, they had all experienced losing everything and understood the truth that relying on anyone or anything is not as reliable as relying on yourself.
Just as Lakefront Town was bustling with its ideological transformation, a special group of guests arrived, riding on Griffins.
Leading them was Amadis Hayes, clad in a purple Mage Robe.
Behind her were the burly Leonard and a middle-aged man in an ice-blue Mage Robe, who was none other than the Chief Magic Consultant of the North Wind Legion’s command, Edmund Frost.
But the most eye-catching of all were the group of magnificently dressed nobles at the very back.
They wore lavish noble robes embroidered with gold thread, each one strutting about with their noses in the air, looking even more arrogant than Franz’s group had when they arrived.
"Lynch," Amadis said in a low voice, taking a quick step forward. "They’re from the Noble Committee in the Imperial Capital."
Lynch raised an eyebrow, his gaze sweeping over the nobles with their noses in the air. A slight smile touched his lips. "Oh, so they’re nobles from the Imperial Capital... Aus, you entertain our ’honored guests’ for a moment. I’m going to go change."
He deliberately emphasized the two words "honored guests."
Aus took the hint, straightened his collar, and went to greet them with a polite smile.
As the Seventh Prince in disguise, he was well-versed in the intricacies of these noble circles. With just a few words, he had the group of nobles feeling utterly flattered. He then smoothly led them to the garrison’s reception hall, where they were served fine tea and refreshments.
Meanwhile, Lynch invited Amadis, Leonard, and the Frost Mage into an adjacent side hall.
Lynch first exchanged a few pleasantries with Leonard, whom he was meeting for the first time, and with the Chief Consultant. Only then did he ask, "Amadis, what’s going on? Why is the Noble Committee here?"
Amadis took a sip of tea and said calmly, "The North Wind Legion reported the merits from the battle of Grey Stone Pass. His Majesty was greatly pleased and has bestowed a number of noble titles."
She gestured toward Leonard. "Our Battle Group Commander Leonard was promoted from Lord to Baron for holding the line at Grey Stone Pass and coordinating the counterattack that defeated the Blue Scarf. He’s been granted a fief in Valencia Province. It’s a bit barren, but it’s a proper noble’s fief nonetheless."
Leonard scratched his head, unable to hide the excitement on his honest face. "Heh heh, I never thought someone from a commoner background like me could get this far... Speaking of which, I really have you to thank for this, Lynch."
"We’re all commanders defending the border; it’s only right that we support each other. By the way, congratulations, Baron Leonard," Lynch said with a smile, then turned to Amadis. "What about you?"
