Chapter 396: Chapter 134: Promotion! Lynch is Tier Three
Furthermore, the Mana in the pool within his mind grew more condensed under this refinement. What was once like a mist was now showing signs of turning into liquid.
"It was a success!" Sea Song’s weak but joyful voice sounded in Lynch’s ear. "My Lord, you’ve advanced to Tier Three!"
Lynch slowly opened his eyes. Feeling the considerable growth of his Spiritual Power and Mana pool, he was overjoyed.
More than that, he felt as if his soul had grown much stronger as well.
"How do you feel?"
Sea Song released him, turned, and put her outer robe back on.
A closer look revealed her face was clearly pale; the skill she had just used had evidently taken a great toll on her. But she didn’t seem to mind, instead gazing at Lynch with concern, obviously more worried about his state than her own.
"Excellent." Lynch stood up and stretched, looking utterly refreshed. "My Spiritual Power, Mana, soul strength... they’ve all taken a qualitative leap."
He turned to Sea Song, his gaze softening. "Thank you for your trouble."
"It was no trouble at all," Sea Song said, lowering her head as her cheeks blushed once more. "I’m just happy I could help you, My Lord..."
Noticing Sea Song’s exhausted expression, Lynch didn’t keep her for long. They exchanged a few more words before he sent her off to rest.
After she left, Lynch sat alone on the bed, cross-legged. He closed his eyes and turned his focus inward, carefully sensing the changes in his Spiritual Power.
Previously, at Tier Two Peak, his base Spiritual Power—without any equipment bonuses—was around 48. Now that he had advanced to Tier Three, it had soared to 60, a full 12-point increase.
’Damn, that’s a full double what I had at the start of Tier Two...’
A smile tugged at the corners of Lynch’s lips.
Adding the 33-point Spiritual Power bonus from his equipment, his current total reached 93. This figure wasn’t much weaker than that of some less well-off Tier Four Mages.
’This should finally ease the ever-increasing strain on my Spiritual Power, at least for a little while...’
With a mere thought, Lynch’s Spiritual Power surged out like a tide, blanketing a two-hundred-meter radius. Instantly, every blade of grass, every tree, and the movements of every Undead in the area were reflected clearly in his mind.
This feeling of control caused his smile to widen.
But his smile soon faded, and his brow furrowed slightly.
’Eased... but it’s only temporary relief.’
Whether it was the mountain of Skeletons piled in the Corpse Mountain Bone Sea or the Black Corpses lying in the Sleeping Tomb, he still had a considerable number of "reserves" he couldn’t mobilize due to insufficient Commanding Power.
Lynch did a rough calculation. If he were to truly go all-out and raise his forces, his Undead Army could swell to two or three thousand, if not more. But limited by his Spiritual Power, he could only watch them lie there and collect dust.
For a Necromancer who relied primarily on his Undead Army, it was a good problem to have.
’Spiritual Power... there’s never enough...’
Lynch sighed and began to take stock of the ways he could increase his Spiritual Power.
’The first path, of course, is to continue diligent Meditation and advance through the tiers step-by-step.’
This was the most reliable, but also the slowest, method.
Based on the efficiency of the Basic Nether River Visualization Skill, progressing from early Tier Three to Tier Three Peak would likely take at least a year. Breaking through to Tier Four, moreover, would require a fortunate opportunity and a solid foundation, which couldn’t be rushed.
’The second path is improving my equipment.’
Lynch thought about his current equipment... the Raven Low Speech Staff, his magic robe, the Peaceful Starlight Necklace, and the Evil Magic Codex. All of them were excellent items for boosting Spiritual Power.
The problem, however, was that the number of spiritual circuits that could be formed between his Sea of Spirit and his equipment was limited. He couldn’t just wear dozens of items that boosted Spiritual Power.
Generally, a Mage could wear six or seven pieces of such equipment at most. Any more would risk conflicts between the spiritual circuits, doing more harm than good.
’The third path: Top Grade Alchemy Potions.’
Alchemy Potions that permanently increased Spiritual Power did exist in this world—things like "Elixirs of Wisdom" and "Soul Essences" were prime examples.
But such items were incredibly rare and almost never available on the market; finding one was purely a matter of luck.
Besides, one builds up a tolerance to these potions. After two or three doses, they become almost completely ineffective.
’The fourth path...’
A sharp glint flashed in Lynch’s eyes as he recalled the previous system notification.
His Spiritual Power had increased by two points when he dealt with the remnant of Yenogu. A few more events like that would be equivalent to gaining a piece of Top Grade equipment.
’Looks like I’ll have to pursue all four paths at once,’ Lynch mused, stroking his chin. ’But the fourth path seems to be the most promising by far.’
Meditation was too slow, equipment was limited, and potions were too rare. Only the path of "devouring big shots" was both fast and efficient. Furthermore, as he grew stronger, the remnants of the "big shots" he could handle would also become more powerful, creating a positive feedback loop.
Of course, he couldn’t be hasty about dealing with Yenogu. He first needed to stabilize his new tier.
"My Lord, I have an urgent matter to report!"
Lynch was just about to focus and circulate his meditation technique to stabilize the Spiritual Power he had just gained when the somewhat urgent voice of his Personal Guard came from outside the door.
"What is it?" Lynch opened his eyes, frowning slightly as he looked toward the door.
"The young master and young miss are... causing a scene... at Lakefront Academy." The Personal Guard’s voice sounded a bit strange. "Several of the instructors have signed a petition demanding to see you. They said... they said if you don’t go over there, they’re all going to go on strike."
