That's How We Necromancers Do Things

Chapter 321: Chapter 123: [Death Codex]! Lynch Has a Legacy
All the goblin and Blue Scarf prisoners, along with their equipment, the other spoils from the battlefield, and the goblin and Blue Scarf corpses were all packed up and escorted back to Lakefront Town by the troops.
After successive expansions, Lynch’s Undead Commanding Power was already nearing its limit.
This was a perfect opportunity for him to use the new batch of corpses to restructure and optimize his Undead Corps.
Low Tier units with insufficient potential or severe damage could be culled, converted, or stored. His elite forces would be replenished and reinforced, and any surplus corpses would be kept as a strategic reserve.
The grand procession’s return to Lakefront Town caused quite a commotion.
Aus had already received word and made arrangements for their arrival.
The prisoners were all thrown into the black cells beneath the garrison, guarded by two Purple Zombies and a squad of Black Corpses. The spoils of war were inventoried and stored by designated personnel, while the corpses were temporarily stacked in a remote area outside of town under the watch of a squad of Skeletons.
Aus was well-practiced in these matters, handling everything methodically.
Lynch, however, couldn’t be bothered with such trivial matters.
He ordered the Corpse Demon to personally carry the stone coffin containing the black box and went straight to the garrison’s basement, entering the secret room that housed the Teleportation Gate.
At this moment, the "Ruins Exploration Special Militia" organized by Aus was busy near the Teleportation Gate.
Dressed in special protective suits, they were carrying out "junk" cleared from the safe zone of the ruins, sorting it for later processing.
"Everyone, stop what you’re doing. Leave immediately and wait in the garrison hall for further orders," Lynch commanded.
Without a word, the exploration team members swiftly evacuated the underground area.
Soon, only Lynch, Aus, Sea Song, Avril, and a group of core Undead Units—the Corpse Demon, Ghost Yi, and Esther—remained near the Teleportation Gate.
"Sea Song." Lynch looked at the Mermaid Princess, his tone grave. "I must trouble you. Please contact the Song of Elune. I... have a favor to ask of her."
Sea Song nodded without asking any questions.
The Teleportation Gate happened to be open at that moment.
Sea Song voluntarily relinquished partial control of her body. She then closed her eyes, focused her mind, and began to chant the true name of the Moon Priestess, calling out with the reverence of a devout apprentice.
A moment later, the aura around Sea Song changed abruptly, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Her once clear and gentle blue eyes now shimmered with cold, majestic flecks of silver light. Her entire disposition became transcendent and aloof, as if her soul had been replaced in an instant.
Lynch knew at once that the Moon Priestess, Elune’s Song: Seren Hill, had descended once again.
The gaze of the Song of Elune swept over the surroundings before landing on the conspicuous stone coffin. Her brow furrowed slightly. "Lynch boy, why did you summon me in such a rush?"
Lynch immediately stepped forward, bowed respectfully, and said, "I trust you are well, Honored Mother. During my recent travels, I chanced upon an artifact of inheritance left behind by an ancient Necromancer."
He pointed to the open stone coffin and the black box inside. "This is it. However, the Necromancer who left it behind had a... complicated reputation. My own knowledge is limited, and I am deeply uneasy. I fear it may contain hidden traps, Curses, or some kind of subtle mental snare that could endanger me, or even bring harm to Lakefront Town."
He looked at the Moon Priestess with a sincere expression. "Honored Mother, your knowledge is vast and your Mana profound. Your insight into matters of the soul and energy is far beyond my own. I am at a loss, so I must be so bold as to ask you to examine these items for me. If you could determine whether they are safe, I can then decide how to proceed with a clear conscience."
The boy’s repeated use of "Honored Mother" made the Moon Priestess’s eyelid twitch, but she ultimately refrained from correcting him. With a soft huff, she said, "Bring it here. Have that zombie open the box."
Lynch rejoiced inwardly. He immediately ordered a Black Corpse to present the box, and once again lifted the lid in front of the Moon Priestess, revealing the shadowy black Scripture and the letter inside.
The Moon Priestess didn’t even touch them. A silver radiance simply swirled within her eyes, as if two miniature moons were rising in their depths.
Then, with a light tap of her finger, a stream of pure, crisp moonlight flowed out, gently blanketing the Magic Scripture and the letter.
The moonlight seemed to possess a life of its own. As it flowed over the items, faint energy patterns materialized on the surfaces of the Scripture and the letter, and they began to emanate subtle fluctuations of Negative Energy and Magic Power.
Furthermore, a mark bearing the aura of a ghostly white flame appeared on the letter.
Illuminated by the moonlight, nothing could remain concealed.
She examined them with extreme care. After a long moment, she withdrew the moonlight, the silver glow in her eyes dimming slightly.
Clearly, such a detailed inspection had taken a considerable toll.
Lynch looked at her expectantly.
"The items themselves don’t contain any direct, lethal traps or Curses, nor are there any residual souls attached to them." The Moon Priestess, apparently guessing Lynch’s fears, answered bluntly. "That Scripture is likely a secret tome of inheritance. It’s been placed under a powerful spiritual seal and a knowledge lock. You’ll need a specific method or a particular spiritual frequency to open it safely. Forcing it open will trigger a knowledge annihilation, destroying its contents."
"The letter is just an ordinary letter, but the envelope has an ’Ancestral Sensing’ mark on it. Once you open and read it, the original master who left the mark may be able to sense it."
