Chapter 316: Chapter 122: Fellow Countryman’s Treasure! Found It
A terrifying chill ravaged the land, freezing the very air into a white mist.
In an instant, the area transformed into a frozen hellscape. Hundreds of goblins were skewered by ice lances before they could even react, their shrill screams cut short. Some were even flash-frozen into ice sculptures by the extreme cold.
The little momentum the wave of green-skins had just managed to build was utterly shattered by this single blow.
Even the Undead Demoness floating in mid-air was not entirely spared.
A thick layer of frost rapidly coated her body. Her shrill, piercing shriek seemed to freeze in the air, suddenly diminishing, and even the beat of her wings grew stiff and sluggish.
Lynch’s eyes widened in shock as he watched from the hill.
’This Ice Storm Scroll... what incredible power and range. It’s definitely a Tier Five area-of-effect destructive Magic. Must’ve cost a fortune.’
’But this girl... she just threw it down without a second thought! Didn’t even bat an eye!’
’Just what you’d expect from the Frost Master’s granddaughter. Her family must be ridiculously wealthy. Throwing around pay-to-win items like that—so damn extravagant.’
However, griping aside, Lynch had to admit that Eleanor’s Ice Storm was perfectly timed, and its effects were immediate.
What little morale the goblin army had painstakingly cobbled together vanished in less than a second under the cataclysmic storm of ice. Their collapse was even more complete than before.
The troublesome Undead Demoness was now severely hampered by the frost, effectively pinned down for a moment. This created the perfect opportunity for him to act.
"Well done!" Lynch called out in praise.
At the same time, he halted his move to activate the Moonfire Ring, raising the Raven Low Speech Staff instead.
A dark light flared at the tip of the staff, and an orb of the Weakness Curse shot out, striking the Undead Demoness from afar.
Weakness Curse (Level 4 | 29,999/30,000)!
A Curse skill on the verge of reaching Level 5 was already incredibly potent. Even against a Tier Six Undead Demoness, the effect was substantial.
The Undead Demoness shuddered violently. Beating its wings became visibly more difficult, and its flight grew unsteady. Its altitude dropped sharply, and it nearly plummeted from the sky.
This was his chance. The moment Lynch’s Curse landed, his ranged units across the battlefield sprang into action.
On the flanking slopes, the militia musketeers immediately swiveled their guns, unleashing a volley at the faltering figure in the sky.
Amidst a deafening roar of gunfire, a dense shower of lead shot screamed through the air.
The archers and crossbowmen in the human ranks aimed high and let loose. To the thrum of countless bowstrings, a swarm of arrows flew forth like locusts.
Furthermore, Lynch’s sizable corps of Skeleton Mages, led by their chief mages, all brandished their staffs in unison.
A motley of spells—Fireballs, ice cones, Bone Spears, Corrosive Beams—shot into the sky like fireworks, forming a dense magical barrage that rained down upon the Undead Demoness.
Lynch wasn’t idle either. With a few flicks of his Raven Low Speech Staff, he sent three Bone Spears, each reeking of death, flying out in a triangular formation. They streaked toward the demoness’s vital points—her head and torso.
Meanwhile, the fastest of them all, the young Vampire Esther, could no longer restrain herself.
She let out an excited shriek. With a powerful beat of her small, bat-like wings, she instantly became a blur, a fleeting afterimage that the naked eye could barely follow. She dove straight for the badly weakened Undead Demoness!
Her sharp claws and fangs glinted coldly in the air, their lethality obvious at a glance.
First slowed by the Ice Storm and then afflicted by the Weakness Curse, the Undead Demoness was already in a feeble state. Under such a concentrated barrage from all sides, its wings were shredded in an instant, making flight impossible.
It faltered, then plummeted from the sky at an angle, crashing heavily to the ground and sending a spray of mud and ice shards flying.
The grating shriek finally fell silent.
With the fall of the Undead Demoness and the Goblin Airship now controlled by ghosts, the outcome of the war was no longer in doubt.
Lynch’s army began a methodical advance. Their three-sided encirclement tightened like a slowly closing noose, steadily shrinking the pocket of surviving enemies.
The pressure on the Giant Camp lessened dramatically.
Catherine acted decisively. With a swing of her longsword, she bellowed, "Counterattack! Coordinate with the reinforcements and pincer them! Don’t let a single one escape!"
The surviving human Soldiers and Giant Warriors were already simmering with pent-up rage. Her command was all they needed; their morale soared, and they immediately launched a counterattack under her direction.
Joining forces with the surviving Zombie Corps, they surged from the camp’s ruined defenses like tigers unleashed from a cage. They soon formed a pincer with Lynch’s main army, trapping the enemy between them.
The remaining goblins, utterly terrified, scrambled about like headless chickens within the shrinking encirclement, only to be swiftly cut down by arrows, musket fire, Bone Spears, and blades.
As for the elite Blue Scarves, witnessing the twin blows of their airship’s betrayal and the demoness’s fall shattered their last ounce of will to resist.
With their escape route cut off and all hope lost, the dozen or so surviving Blue Scarves dropped their weapons and Magic Staffs. Their knees gave out, and they collapsed into the mud, thrusting their hands high into the air. "We surrender! We surrender! Spare us!"
