Chapter 314: Chapter 122: Compatriot’s Treasure! Found It
"Hold the line! Form ranks, quickly, form ranks!" The purple-robed Warlock, his face drained of all color, shrieked as he frantically waved his Magic Staff to conjure Shadow Arrows.
The red-robed Elemental Mage was also in a frantic flurry, waving his own Magic Staff to launch a scorching-hot Fireball.
The Tier Four Wanderer, seeing how dire the situation was, flickered out of sight and darted toward the flank, attempting to break away from the main charge.
However, it was too late.
The Corpse Demon’s charge was shockingly fast. It made no attempt to dodge or evade, simply enduring the incoming Shadow Arrows, Fireballs, and ice spikes with its terrifyingly resilient body.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
The Shadow Arrows exploded against its chest, corroding a deep pit into its flesh.
The Fireball detonated, and the ice spikes shattered into flying fragments. While all of this dealt considerable damage, nothing could halt the momentum of its charge.
As they scrambled to react, the Corpse Demon’s heavy fist had already smashed into the Blue Scarves’ hastily formed battle line.
CRUNCH!
The Corpse Demon’s charged fist slammed directly into the chest of a Blue Scarf Warrior.
With a sickeningly audible crack of bone, the man and his shield caved inward. He was sent flying backward, slamming violently into another Blue Scarf member behind him.
A spray of blood and shredded organs erupted from his mouth. His face instantly turned ashen, and it was clear he wasn’t going to make it.
A massive gap was instantly torn in the defensive line!
The Purple Zombies poured in right behind it, plunging into the gap. They swung their black, venomous claws, raising a fetid stench as they instantly tore several Blue Scarf Warriors who were trying to plug the hole to pieces.
A tide of Black Corpses followed, instantly overwhelming them.
Every member of this Zombie Corps had a tough hide and immense strength. Their resistance to both magical elements and physical attacks like sword slashes and axe chops was astonishingly high.
The individual Blue Scarves might not have been weak—many were skilled Tier Three combatants, and they even had a Tier Four Warlock, Elemental Mage, and Wanderer among their ranks.
But they were just a temporary force cobbled together from mercenaries and rebels. When had they ever faced such a fearless, unnaturally durable tide of zombies?
Faced with such a crushing assault, the already poorly disciplined troops instantly fell into disarray.
Some, in their desperation, chose to fight to the death, unleashing a chaotic flurry of magical light and combat auras.
Others simply turned and fled, trying to get away from the terrifying horde.
The Wanderers, who weren’t suited for direct combat, pushed their speed to the limit. They became mere afterimages as they fled toward the edge of the battlefield, desperate to escape the field of death.
The zombies’ claws tore mercilessly through the chaotic crowd. For a time, screams, the crunch of breaking bones, and the explosions of Magic interwove into a discordant symphony of war.
Soon, the formation of the elite Blue Scarves was utterly broken and scattered.
The Corpse Demon seized the opportunity, rampaging through the crowd like a meat grinder. It shattered what was left of their formation and specifically targeted those with the most powerful auras.
The purple-robed Warlock found himself targeted. He blinked away in terror again and again, but the Corpse Demon anticipated his destination. A powerful Horizontal Sweep shattered his protective Shadow Shield, and the demon’s other claw followed close behind, ready to tear him apart.
The red-robed Elemental Mage tried to create a safe zone with a wall of fire. However, several Purple Zombies charged straight through it, ignoring the flames that engulfed them as they single-mindedly swarmed him.
If the elite Blue Scarves had managed to hold their formation and coordinate, they might have stood a chance. But fighting as individuals, nearly every one of them was swarmed by multiple zombies.
Even the stealthed Wanderers couldn’t leverage their advantages on the chaotic battlefield. A single careless moment was all it took to be knocked out of the shadows and surrounded, just like everyone else.
This elite "Blue Scarf" unit didn’t last long before they were utterly routed, collapsing like an avalanche.
Meanwhile, the Goblin Airship hovering in mid-air had also descended into chaos.
「Inside the airship’s cockpit.」
A goblin leader in oversized goggles sat inside a Mechanical Puppet bristling with rivets and exposed gears.
He flailed his limbs, frantically yanking the control levers to maneuver the Mechanical Puppet. He didn’t forget to jabber into the speaking tube, "Turn us around! Turn us around now! Aim for those new bone-bags and the humans! Fire! Blast ’em to bits for me! GAAAAAHHHH~!!"
It was hard to tell if it was from extreme excitement or terror, but his voice was incredibly shrill.
But in the next second, his roaring came to an abrupt halt.
Without any warning, a thin layer of frost began to creep across the Mechanical Puppet’s control levers, its instrument panel, and even the goblin’s own goggles and leather gloves.
A few seconds later, an icy blue light flared in the eyes behind his goggles.
It wasn’t just him.
The goblin pilot desperately spinning the helm beside him, as well as the main gunner, were now also covered in a layer of frost. Their eyes, too, were quickly shrouded in the same eerie, ice-blue glow.
The reason was obvious.
Lynch’s three ghosts had made their move.
As the ghosts completed their possession of the three goblins, the entire airship began to shudder violently. It listed precariously in the air, looking as if it could crash at any moment.
The other goblin crew members on deck, who hadn’t been affected, were stunned. They shrieked in terror, squawking and running around in a panicked mob.
