Chapter 300: Chapter 120: Mama, It’s Time to Drop Gold Coins

Just as Catherine was sorting through this intelligence.

Suddenly.

Far in the distance, a clamor arose from the border between the hills and the swamp below.

Catherine’s train of thought was instantly broken.

She immediately focused her senses and listened intently. Sure enough, she could faintly make out waves of roaring, sharp hissing, and even the CLANG of weapons clashing.

Trouble.

Catherine immediately stood up and raised her hand to signal.

All the resting Soldiers instantly snapped to attention, silently moving to advantageous observation points and entering a state of alert.

Catherine found a nearby rock to conceal herself, simultaneously retrieving a monocular telescope from her Space Ring. She squinted, looking down from her high vantage point toward the source of the sound.

About two or three hundred meters below, a chase was underway.

The party being pursued was a group of humanoid creatures over two meters tall, with earthy-brown skin and knotted muscles.

They had coarse features and long, protruding tusks. They wore simple beast-hide armor and wielded weapons like stone axes, wooden clubs, and crude spears.

Catherine’s heart skipped a beat. She recognized them instantly.

’They’re Giants!’

She quickly scanned the area and found there were about twenty to thirty Giants.

Although these Giants had primitive equipment, each one was fierce and brave, and they fought with a fair amount of discipline.

They formed a loose, back-to-back circle, roaring and swinging their weapons to repel the charging enemies as they slowly retreated toward a high, rocky outcrop.

And the ones pursuing and besieging them were a large, chattering, and howling horde of green-skinned goblins.

There was a massive number of these goblins—at least two or three hundred by her estimation—surging toward the Giants from all directions like a green tide.

Among them were ordinary goblins wielding various weapons, swarming forward in a chaotic charge.

There were also goblin javelin throwers and blowgunners hiding in the rear, hurling Javelins and shooting poison darts. Additionally, several exceptionally burly goblin warriors were rampaging through the formation.

There was even a small squad of fast goblin wolf riders on the periphery, circling and looking for an opportunity to charge.

What concerned Catherine even more was that at the rear of the goblin ranks stood several goblin Shamans, wearing feathered bone crowns and painted with strange patterns.

They were waving their Magic Staffs, sometimes casting the Bloodthirst Skill on the goblin warriors at the front, other times summoning a bolt of lightning or a cloud of poison gas to harass the Giants.

There were even a dozen or so Bear Goblins mixed in with the goblin ranks, each over two meters tall with muscles bulging like rock.

These big fellows relentlessly attacked with massive Wolf Fang Clubs, each heavy blow putting immense pressure on the Giants’ defensive line.

Clearly, this was a Goblin Tribe of considerable size, with a full complement of unit types, and even led by Casters.

And while the Giants were formidable individual combatants, they were at a clear disadvantage against such overwhelming numbers.

Their circle was being steadily compressed. At this rate, it was only a matter of time before they were completely surrounded, divided, and annihilated.

Catherine’s gaze swept across the battlefield, her mind racing.

’Go around?’

’This area is one of the necessary routes to the Angelo mountain range. This open ground is a relatively easy path. If we abandon it and choose to force our way through the dense forest and swamp, the unknown risks would probably be even greater.’

’Ignoring it is out of the question.’

’Goblins are a public enemy to the entire world, and a Goblin Tribe of this size would be a huge threat to the upcoming pioneer teams and outposts from Lakefront Town.’

’This squad of Giants is showing decent fighting spirit and quality...’

’They could be useful.’

Lord Lynch once said that in these borderlands, survival is the first priority, and the wisdom of survival lies in skillfully using any power that can be used.

’The enemy of my enemy might not necessarily become a friend, but they can at least be a temporary "tool."’

Most importantly, Catherine herself despised goblins. It could be said that there isn’t a woman alive who doesn’t.

Within a few breaths, she had made her decision.

Her eyes sharpened. She lowered her voice and began to rapidly issue a series of commands.

"Gu Youji, take your Skeleton Archers and occupy that small hill on the left flank. Lay down covering fire on the goblin Shamans and ranged units in the rear. Prioritize taking out the Casters and Commanders."

"First and Second Squads, circle around from the gentle slope on the right. Attack the goblin wolf riders and the Bear Goblins on the flank to disrupt their formation. Be careful to maintain your distance, use the terrain to your advantage, and avoid getting tied down by the Bear Goblins!"

"Third Squad, advance with me from the front! Black Corpses in the vanguard, Purple Zombies protecting the wings! Advance steadily, draw the attention of the goblins at the front, and relieve the pressure on the Giants."

"Remember, our objective is to rout and annihilate the goblins’ effective forces!"

"Move out!"

With the orders given, the well-trained Soldiers of the Ninth Battle Battalion immediately sprang into action. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

The Skeleton Archers, led by the surprisingly intelligent Gu Youji, entered the bushes on the left and quickly formed up on the small hill, which offered a clear line of sight.

Gu Youji drew his pale bone bow, his ghostly green Soul Fire locking onto the goblin Shamans casting spells in the distance.

The two squads of human Soldiers shot out like nimble lynxes, using the cover of the terrain and vegetation to quickly circle around to the right side of the battlefield.
