Chapter 277: Chapter 117: Moon Priestess! Elune’s Song: Seren Hill

...

Almost at that very moment.

"ROAR!"

"AWOOO!"

Several powerful auras erupted from the heart of the army.

Bloodfang and Corpse Demon, the two strongest Purple Zombies under Lynch’s command, let out earth-shattering roars. Kicking off the ground, they leaped into the air, charging toward the diving Mutated Grom.

A torrent of necrotic Evil Qi surged around their bodies, forming two thick barriers of Evil Qi.

The little Vampire, Esther, bared her sharp fangs and let out a piercing shriek.

The small, bat-like wings on her back unfurled with a WHOOSH. With a powerful flap, she shot toward Grom, moving so fast she left an afterimage in her wake.

At the same time, a storm of ranged attacks from Lynch’s forces rained down on Grom.

Bone Youji rapidly drew and loosed his bow, sending a stream of Pale Arrows wreathed in an aura of death whistling through the air. They flew straight for Mutated Grom’s vital spots, like his eye sockets and throat.

The Skeleton Archers behind him immediately followed up with a volley of their own.

Bone Spear Hainuo led his squad of Skeleton Spearmen in a simultaneous attack, forcefully hurling a dense rain of Javelins.

The Skeleton Mage, Bone Curse, waved its dark red Magic Staff. A series of Fireballs burning with mutated Hellfire shot out, leaving scorching trails in the air!

Bone Fa wasn’t idle, either. Waving its Magic Staff, it cast a series of debilitating Curses, attempting to ensnare the raging figure.

The other Skeleton Mages within casting range also attacked, unleashing all sorts of Magic.

However, Grom, now transformed into an Abyssal Demon, had grown to a terrifying level of power.

Not only was his strength astonishing, but his speed was also utterly unbelievable.

Each beat of his enormous, black-and-red bat wings resonated with a hint of the Space Law, making his massive body seem erratic in the air—flickering in and out of sight one moment, then streaking past the next, like a phantom.

Facing the head-on interception from Bloodfang and Corpse Demon, he didn’t dodge or evade, simply swatting at them with a casual swing of his giant claw.

"BANG!" "CRACK!"

Two dull thuds rang out.

Bloodfang’s Purple Zombie body, which could normally withstand swords and blades, was instantly ripped open by the claw, revealing several gaping wounds that went down to the bone. Its thick left leg was torn clean off, spewing purplish-black ichor.

Its massive body plummeted downward, crashing heavily into a pile of Skeleton Soldiers.

Corpse Demon fared slightly better. Thanks to its body, which was beginning to show signs of turning into a Copper Zombie, it managed to block the other claw by crossing its arms. Even so, the terrifying impact shattered the purple skin on its arms, and a viscous fluid oozed from the cracks.

Its body, too, was sent plummeting downward.

Before the might of the Abyssal Demon, the powerful bodies they had once taken such pride in seemed utterly fragile.

Only Esther, with the innate speed and agility of a Vampire, combined with the advantage of flight, could get close to Mutated Grom. She darted around him like a flitting butterfly, circling and biting.

Her sharp claws and teeth could barely inflict any damage on Grom, only managing to hinder his movements slightly.

But after only two or three passes, Mutated Grom seemed to grow annoyed by this pestering "little fly" and lashed out with a sweeping backhand.

"Eeep~!!"

Esther cried out as her small body was sent spinning through the air as if struck by a Siege Hammer, only coming to a stop after crashing through several trees.

Her little face turned deathly pale, and a trickle of crimson blood seeped from the corner of her mouth.

But she just shook her head, and with a small whimper, she flapped her wings and charged back in, stubbornly re-engaging him.

She knew she could hardly do any real damage to Mutated Grom, but as long as she could buy Lynch time, even one more second would be worth it.

As for the barrage of ranged attacks, their effect was similarly limited.

The Pale Arrows and Javelins that struck Mutated Grom were mostly deflected by his keratinous hide. Even the few that managed to penetrate it only left shallow wounds, which healed almost instantly amid his writhing flesh.

The Hellfire Fireballs exploded, their flames clinging to him and burning, only to be swiftly suppressed and extinguished by the dense Abyssal Aura.

The light of the Curses that landed on him vanished as if sinking into the sea, easily dispersed by his chaotic, violent will and Abyssal Energy, showing almost no effect.

Such a terrifying gap in power sent a chill through Lynch’s heart.

He couldn’t help but reflect on it. ’Abyssal Demons truly are monsters born for war and destruction.’

’Their physical strength, energy resistance, and combat instincts are all absurdly high.’

’No wonder a civilization as powerful as that of the Ancient Elves was reduced to dust by their invasion.’

But reflections were one thing; Lynch’s actions and thoughts didn’t pause for a second.

While urgently issuing new orders to all his Undead Units through their mental link, he roared at the human officers and troops around him, "All ranged units, forget precision! Suppressive fire! Keep him busy!"

"Catherine! Take your people, form a defensive line in front of me! Don’t engage directly, focus on defense!"

"Olivia, Lilith, command the flanks to speed up the encirclement! Clean up the remaining Gnoll rabble first, don’t let them interfere with the battlefield!"

As he issued this string of commands, Lynch showed none of the expected resolve of a Commander to "hold the center." He immediately spurred his zombie hellhound, Red Rabbit, to sidestep and begin a "disgraceful" retreat, seemingly trying to create distance between himself and the terrifying Abyssal Demon.
