That's How We Necromancers Do Things
Chapter 263 - 115: Since You’re Here! Time for the Black Prison.
Chapter 263: Chapter 115: Since You’re Here! Time for the Black Prison.
The Holy Knight inquisitors and enforcement team members froze, their breakout attempt faltering.
And in that moment of hesitation, the situation took another bizarre turn.
Suddenly.
A Tier Three member of the enforcement team convulsed, his skin suddenly turning crimson as flames seemed to erupt from his eyes.
He let out an inhuman roar and, in the next instant, turned his blade on a nearby companion, slashing with wild abandon.
He had been struck by the Heart-Scorching Flame, a vicious curse cast by the Skeleton Mage, Bone Curse. Its victims felt as if their hearts were being incinerated by a Blazing Flame, causing them to lose all reason and indiscriminately attack any living creature in sight.
"Hold him down! Purify the curse!"
The Holy Priest reacted fastest, immediately raising his staff as Holy Light began to rapidly converge at its tip.
However, he had only just raised his staff when a sharp whistle cut through the air.
A bone arrow wreathed in a pale aura of death shot precisely toward his face.
The startled Priest was forced to interrupt his spell. He thrust his staff out horizontally, instantly manifesting a Holy Light shield to block the attack.
BANG!
The arrow struck the shield, sending ripples across its surface.
But this was only the beginning!
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Three more arrows, a volley of Continuous Arrows, shot toward him in a triangular formation. The cunning angles forced the Priest to pour all his energy into reinforcing his shield. Bogged down on defense, he had no time for anything else, let alone purifying the curse on the enforcement team member.
In the brief moment he was delayed, another Tier Three enforcement team member screamed in agony. His eyes turned crimson, and he joined the frenzied assault on his comrades.
The men looked up in horror, only then noticing that the garrison roof was now covered with Skeletons.
To the left were rows of Skeleton Mages wielding bone staves. To the right were Skeleton Archers with bows drawn and arrows nocked.
And together, they flanked a particularly conspicuous Skeleton Mage.
It held a staff inlaid with a dark Ruby and wore a magnificent crown. Eerie green Soul Fire burned fiercely in its eye sockets, and its entire being radiated a unique aura that screamed, ’I am a force to be reckoned with.’
As they stared, it was already swinging its staff, rapidly chanting its next spell.
This was, of course, Bone Curse—the Tier Four Skeleton Mage transformed from the blacklisted fugitive, Horn Solar, the Catastrophe Mage.
It cast Heart-Scorching Flame three times in quick succession, forcing the two Holy Knight inquisitors to divert their attention and use Holy Light to purify the curses on their comrades.
Seizing the opportunity while they were busy dispelling the curses, the gemstone at the tip of Bone Curse’s staff flared with brilliant red light.
A Fireball reeking of strong sulfur shot out and exploded thunderously at the garrison entrance!
It was Death Hellfire. Although not as powerful as the Tier Five Hellfire Bone Curse could cast in life, this version was infused with the Power of Death, making it far more insidious. It not only incinerated flesh but could also corrode Holy Light shields.
In an instant, the area at the courtyard entrance became a sea of fire, further cutting off any connection between those inside and out.
Meanwhile, inside the courtyard, the family guards struck by the Nether Flame were still rolling on the ground, wailing in agony as their souls burned.
But in that instant, their movements froze, and their wails died abruptly.
They then staggered to their feet, their pupils now a strange, icy blue, and their bodies began to radiate a sinister chill.
Then, they raised their weapons and hacked at their leader, the Tier Four captain who was still desperately holding his ground!
It was ghost possession! Ghost Yi, Ghost Two, and Ghost San had seized the opportunity to take control of their bodies.
Normally, with their Tier Three and Four strength, it would have been extremely difficult for them to possess strong-willed Warriors of a comparable tier.
However, the guards’ souls had already been seared by the Nether Flame. The unbearable agony had crushed their willpower and resistance to rock bottom, creating the perfect opportunity for the ghosts to invade.
Describing this series of lightning-fast combination attacks makes it seem long, but in reality, from the moment Red Rabbit appeared to the successful ghost possessions, only a little over ten seconds had passed.
And in that short span of a dozen or so seconds, the once-aggressive party of the mustachioed noble was plunged into a desperate, perilous state, completely on the defensive.
What chilled the still-conscious inquisitors, Priests, and enforcement team members to the bone were the sounds from beyond the courtyard walls. The scraping of bones and the footfalls of marching troops were growing louder and more numerous.
Clearly, more Undead were swarming in. Among them were powerful Skeleton commanders and even a small, enigmatic Vampire that radiated a dangerous aura.
’This... all this is the work of a Tier Two Necromancer?!’
’Even a Tier Four Necromancer might not have this kind of power...’
’No, to be precise, a Tier Four would be completely incapable of this.’
"St-stop! We surrender! We surrender!" Choked by the Corpse Demon, his feet dangling above the ground, Fritz von Hohenlohe finally broke down completely, wailing as tears and snot streamed down his face.
At some point, the little Vampire, Esther, had fluttered down to land on the Corpse Demon’s shoulder. She was licking her lips with her scarlet tongue, staring greedily at the throbbing vein in Fritz’s neck, her sharp fangs glinting.
"Lynch Blackwood!" A panicked Holy Knight inquisitor roared at him, though his voice trembled slightly. "Are you trying to rebel?! Openly attacking an Imperial noble, a Holy Knight of the Inquisition, and the army’s enforcement team... This is a capital offense!"
