Chapter 405: Chapter 248: Coming to the Rescue

"What’s going on?"

Su Xing was sitting in his seat when he suddenly felt a violent energy fluctuation ripple down from the heavens. It quickly condensed into a fine, dense rain that began to fall throughout the Dragon Gate Secret Realm.

Secret Realms like the Dragon Gate Secret Realm, which are isolated from the mortal world, don’t normally have rain. The events within them don’t affect the outside world, and vice versa. For an anomaly like this to occur, something significant must have happened.

’Could a Tier Eight have died?’

Su Xing suddenly recalled that the tragic death of a Tier Eight was one of the few events capable of altering the heavens. When he had killed Tong An, a celestial phenomenon had appeared because that particular Secret Realm was connected to the mortal world.

The Dragon Gate Secret Realm wasn’t connected to the mortal world, so it wouldn’t produce such an obvious phenomenon. However, if a Tier Eight had died a violent death, the energy from their body scattering into the sky would be more than enough to cause a downpour.

"Someone died?"

"Who died?"

Su Xing murmured to himself.

Ever since Li Longxuan left, Su Xing hadn’t received any news. All of Dragon Gate had fallen strangely silent. By now, Su Xing had long since realized something was wrong; he just couldn’t be certain what it was.

BOOM!

Just as Su Xing was lost in thought, a massive explosion suddenly erupted. The sound was clearly coming from the direction of the Dragon Gate Mountain Gate, jolting Su Xing to high alert.

He shot up from his chair. Even though this was Dragon Gate, with something like this happening, sitting back and waiting for death was not his style. As he threw open the door, he was stunned to find someone standing right in front of it.

With the crisis unfolding and a stranger appearing at his door, Su Xing attacked almost instinctively. His right hand shot out with lightning speed, formed into a dragon’s claw that shot toward the visitor’s face, only to freeze inches away.

Su Xing stopped because he saw the person was completely defenseless. He was young, wore the robes of Dragon Gate, and was likely here to warn him—not the enemy who had just appeared.

"I... I... I-I-I-I..."

The man was so terrified he couldn’t form a single word. His legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground. In that single instant, he had experienced the transition from death to life and back again. The shock sent his heart hammering in his chest.

"I scared you. My apologies."

"If you can’t talk right now, just rest here. I have to go."

Su Xing looked at the man’s pathetic state without a hint of mockery. He knew how powerful he himself was, and this person was just a Tier Three Extraordinary Being—clearly an errand boy.

’If I were in his shoes, facing a sudden attack from an Extraordinary Being with power comparable to a Tier Eight, I probably wouldn’t have fared much better.’

"E-Elder Su!"

"Please, please wait!"

The man hastily took a breath to speak. Hearing Su Xing’s apology, much of his fear vanished. He quickly said:

"Elder Su, you must not go outside!"

"You are an honored guest of Dragon Gate. I came here to escort you away. The Dragon Gate Elders are already fighting them."

"Who are they? What’s their strength? Are they at Tier Eight?"

Now that the man could speak properly, Su Xing was in no hurry. He immediately fired off three questions. The man considered them for a moment before replying:

"Who they are... we’re not exactly sure. We only know that there are two of them, and their coordination is seamless, leaving Dragon Gate with no opening to counter."

"Their strength..."

"At my level, I can’t really tell. But I think I overheard our two remaining Tier Eight powerhouses say that they seem to be from the remnant bloodline of some ancient race."

"I haven’t seen anyone die in battle yet, but the way things are going, I’m afraid it won’t be long before we see casualties," the man said hurriedly.

According to this man, no one from Dragon Gate had died in battle yet. But Su Xing knew his senses hadn’t deceived him about the earlier phenomenon. The only possibility was that someone had been killed somewhere within the Secret Realm, but outside of Dragon Gate proper.

This information still didn’t help Su Xing identify the invaders. However, he had gleaned two even more important pieces of information. First, there were two of them.

Two Tier Eight powerhouses... a battle against them would be far more difficult than a one-on-one fight. Unless you were immune to their attacks, you would never win a battle of attrition against two opponents.

Second, they were the remnant bloodline of some ancient race. The term was self-explanatory: their race was nearly extinct, with only a few survivors left wandering the world. It was just shocking that two had survived to this day.

Additionally, Su Xing had always been curious about one thing: what exactly were Celestial Beings?

Before, Su Xing hadn’t encountered so many of these mysteries. He had instinctively assumed that Celestial Beings were simply the favored children of the heavens, blessed with unique power and luck. But now, it suddenly seemed likely that Celestial Beings were simply another one of the ancient races.

It was just that their bloodline was special, allowing others to absorb it and grow stronger. This, however, led Su Xing to a new question: ’Can I absorb the bloodlines of other ancient races, too?’

’The power of a Celestial Being’s bloodline is special in that it allows *others* to absorb it. But I shouldn’t need that special property to do so myself.’
