Chapter 402: Chapter 246: Dead, Part 2

The man’s voice cut through the door, and Su Xing heard footsteps retreat into the distance. After confirming at the doorway that the person was truly gone, he returned to Li Longxuan and asked,

"Elder Li, can you feel it?"

"No."

Li Longxuan shook his head. "With your current strength, even if your perception is a bit weaker than us Tier Eights, it shouldn’t be that much weaker. If you can’t sense anything, then I probably can’t either."

’That’s true.’ After all, the Li Longxuan here was just a clone on the verge of dissipating; his perception was bound to be much weaker than his main body’s. It made sense that if Su Xing couldn’t sense anything, neither could Li Longxuan. Su Xing had only asked on a whim. After getting a definite answer from Li Longxuan, Su Xing nodded.

"Well, this is troublesome."

Su Xing murmured. He hated the feeling of not having things under his control. But this was Dragon Gate; he couldn’t just wander around freely like he could in Cang City or the Cyan Cloud Sect. Because of that, he had no way to gather other clues.

"We’ll handle whatever comes our way."

"Besides, we have a good number of Tier Eight Powerhouses here. If a fight breaks out, the special organizations from Luocheng and Liu City will also provide support. Nothing too serious should happen."

"You just need to focus on what you’re doing."

"Your next match is against Yao Yixiao. He’s a Spatial Sequencer. I don’t know much about a Tier Eight with the Space Sequence myself; he might be incredibly difficult to deal with, so you need to be prepared."

Li Longxuan said.

"True."

Su Xing nodded.

’If he couldn’t do anything about it, he would just set it aside for now.’ The world wouldn’t stop spinning just because he wasn’t there to save it. Other people had their own ways of dealing with danger. All Su Xing needed to do was handle the things he could currently handle.

...

Meanwhile.

Ao Lin’s expression had turned quite ugly.

Standing beside him, Lin Tianhan and Yao Yixiao were rather baffled. They hadn’t sensed anything at all, but they saw Ao Lin’s face darken before their very eyes.

"Did something happen?"

The two asked almost simultaneously. Dragon Gate’s power was immense, with three or four Tier Eights. Add to that Yao Yixiao, Lin Tianhan, Su Xing, and Li Longxuan in his clone state—with such a fearsome lineup, who would dare to provoke the current Dragon Gate?

Therefore, for something to make Ao Lin’s face change like this, it had to be extremely serious.

"It’s nothing."

But Ao Lin just shook his head, his expression gradually returning to normal as if nothing had happened at all.

"..."

Seeing this, Lin Tianhan realized Ao Lin was unwilling to talk, so he didn’t press the issue. After all, this was someone else’s territory. No matter what they said, Ao Lin was the host; the thoughts and opinions of outsiders like them weren’t that important.

But Yao Yixiao was a direct person. He liked to act profound in front of juniors, but with his peers, he was extremely decisive. So, he asked bluntly,

"What is it? Are you still going to be secretive with us? Hurry up and spit it out. We didn’t come to your Dragon Gate to listen to riddles."

"..."

Ao Lin gave a helpless smile. "It’s really nothing."

"It’s just that I received news that the body of a Dragon Gate Disciple was found near the entrance to the Dragon Gate Secret Realm. That’s why I looked so grim."

"?" Lin Tianhan’s expression grew solemn. He asked in a heavy voice, "And you call that ’nothing’?"

"Damn it, why don’t we stop this competition? Let’s focus on handling this first. It won’t be fun if this blows up later."

Yao Yixiao said as well.

After all, someone had died. Lin Tianhan and Yao Yixiao were modern people. Even though they had become Tier Eight Transcendents, they still had sufficient respect for human life. Once a death occurred, it meant the situation had already escalated.

But Ao Lin still shook his head and said,

"That’s not necessary. Most of the Dragon Gate Disciples don’t know about this yet. I’ve already sent people to warn them not to leave the martial arts arena. If we dismiss the competition now, it might cause chaos."

"Besides, we don’t know what happened yet. It might not be a big deal. I’ve already sent my younger brother to investigate. We should have results soon."

"Younger brother? You mean Ao Shi?"

Lin Tianhan asked.

"Ao Shi..."

Hearing this name, Yao Yixiao’s expression stiffened. This Ao Shi was a genuine War Frenzy, and a tremendously talented one at that.

Although Ao Lin was the Dragon Gate Master, being the master didn’t mean he was the strongest. It only proved he was the most suitable person for the role. Ao Shi was the strongest of the current generation in Dragon Gate.

His power was no mere talk. In terms of strength alone, he had cultivated Dragon Qi over a decade ago, much earlier than Ao Lin. Who knew how dense it had become by now.

Moreover, both Lin Tianhan and Yao Yixiao had fought Ao Shi before, and it was obvious they had both lost badly. In the vicinity of Luocheng and Liu City, the only Tier Eight who hadn’t fought him was probably Li Ye. Now, you could also add Su Xing from Cang City to that list. But regardless of whether it was Li Ye or Su Xing, their chances of defeating this Ao Shi were extremely small.

’If it’s him...’

’There shouldn’t be any problem.’

This was what both of them thought. If even Ao Shi couldn’t handle this, then the matter would be far too serious. But that was unlikely to happen. With this, the expressions on Lin Tianhan’s and Yao Yixiao’s faces relaxed a little.

"The competition really can’t be canceled,"

Yao Yixiao nodded and said.

"It can’t be canceled, but I think we need to postpone it for a bit."

Lin Tianhan said seriously.

"What do you mean?"

Ao Lin looked at Lin Tianhan in confusion. He had already explained the situation so clearly, so why did Lin Tianhan still want to pause the competition?

Even though he called it postponing, it wasn’t much different from pausing.

"I can’t say for sure, but I have a bad feeling about this."

Lin Tianhan said, sounding a bit uncertain. He knew his words didn’t hold much weight, but he continued out of caution,

"If this is really a minor issue, Ao Shi will solve it quickly. We can resume the competition then, and no one will notice a thing."

"But if Ao Shi can’t solve it quickly, or if he doesn’t report back with any important news, then it’s definitely not a minor issue. In that case, we absolutely shouldn’t start the competition."

Lin Tianhan had a point. At first, Yao Yixiao thought Lin Tianhan was being ridiculous. After all, Yao Yixiao was up next, so why was Lin Tianhan insisting on a delay? But after hearing this analysis, he had to admit it made a lot of sense. He then spoke up,

"Lin Tianhan’s right. Let’s wait a bit. We can just tell the disciples we need a break to rest and prepare. That shouldn’t be a problem."

"..."

"Fine."

Seeing that both of them felt this way, Ao Lin thought about it and couldn’t find a reason to object, so he nodded. In truth, he didn’t want to wait. He wanted the competition to finish quickly so Su Xing would leave, which would allow him to salvage some of the negative impact from his own defeat.

Although Ao Lin had conceded so quickly that some Dragon Gate Disciples couldn’t even tell how he had lost, some unpleasant rumors had still started circulating within the sect. This was what vexed Ao Lin the most.

No ruler would want something like this to happen, but his loss to Su Xing was a fact he couldn’t change. Ao Lin could only let out a helpless sigh.

Time ticked by. As the minutes stretched on, there was still no word from Ao Shi. Just as the group was beginning to feel anxious, a message finally came back—one specifically about Ao Shi.

Ao Shi was dead.
