Chapter 385: Chapter 238: Sparring

"Senior? You’re here, aren’t you?"

Atop the high mountain, Su Xing gazed at the deserted summit and called out softly. He’d clearly sensed that the final spatial fluctuation had originated from this very spot.

The words died on the air.

A hearty laugh rang out.

"Hahaha, would you look at me? Before my time in the Treasure Pavilion, my favorite thing to do was sit on this summit and watch the distant sunset. Coming here, I just can’t help but think of the old days."

As he laughed, the burly man plummeted from high in the sky, crashing down onto the summit. A shocking gale instantly whipped up, shattering countless rocks, turning them to dust that scattered into nothingness.

And yet, amidst this gale, his body stood perfectly steady on the summit, as if he had only taken a light step, creating no disturbance at all.

"Senior."

Su Xing cupped his fist and said, "It seems you have quite a story, Senior."

The man who had appeared was, in fact, the burly fellow who lived in the Treasure Pavilion. His hair seemed exceptionally thick under the golden sunlight, his face held a radiant smile, and the bulging blocks of muscle all over his body were eye-catching, giving him the vibe of a cheerful, sun-kissed young man.

Of course, aside from all that, what drew Su Xing’s attention most were the faint, leaping arcs of fire that flickered over the man’s muscles, as if his body were a living forge.

’Such a powerful aura! Just standing there, he gives me an incredibly intense feeling. This is definitely a top-tier expert.’

"Hahahaha! I’m an old man, after all. It’s only natural I’ve had some experiences. A pity that time is so merciless."

The burly man burst out laughing, but his laughter soon gave way to a wistful sigh.

"Indeed."

Su Xing nodded in agreement. He was still very young and couldn’t truly feel the man’s pain, but he couldn’t help but worry. ’What if I reach the pinnacle of the Martial Dao one day, but none of the people I care about are still alive? What would I do then?’

Birth, aging, sickness, and death.

This is the fundamental order of the world.

Aside from the path of Qi Cultivation, no one could escape the mortal body’s limited lifespan before reaching Tier Eight. The only exception was through special means that could halt the aging process, making it possible to live longer.

’Still, both Su Yu and Lu Anning are geniuses among geniuses. My uncle has a special legacy of his own, too. Given time, it shouldn’t be impossible for them to reach Tier Eight. The one I’m most worried about, however, is Xiao Wang.’

’Even though Xiao Wang was the last to join me, and my bond with him isn’t as deep as with the other two, he is my disciple, after all. Naturally, I want him to have a better future.’

’Fortunately, he’s still very young, with plenty of room to grow. After everything here is resolved, I need to think about how to help Xiao Wang awaken his talent. As for Modu, I’ll figure out when to go after I get back to Cang City.’

Su Xing mused to himself.

"What’s on your mind?"

"So young, yet so serious. When I was your age, I was carefree and happy every day."

The burly man asked, looking at Su Xing.

"It’s nothing."

Su Xing shook his head.

He wasn’t like this burly man, who had been a disciple of a prestigious sect from the moment he became an Extraordinary Being, with a master and senior brothers who cared for him deeply. Su Xing had become an Extraordinary Being only because of a system that appeared out of nowhere and the ever-present dangers he faced. Death and combat had long been his companions.

A carefree, peaceful life... Su Xing couldn’t remember how long it had been since he’d last experienced that. Not since graduating from college, at least.

"Oh, right."

"My name is Qin Mo. You don’t have to keep calling me ’Senior.’ I’m not really used to it. Just call me by my name."

"Alright, Qin Mo."

Su Xing didn’t stand on ceremony. While the man was his senior for now, at his own rate of growth, there was no telling when he might surpass him in strength. Since Qin Mo had made the request, Su Xing saw no reason to be overly formal.

"You’re a Tier Six, right?"

The burly man suddenly asked, "So, if I defeat you, or if we’re more or less on par, does that mean I’m also around Tier Six?"

"..."

Hearing this question, Su Xing fell silent. He knew full well that his actual combat strength was far beyond what a Tier Six Transcendent could compare to, but in terms of his realm alone, he was indeed a Tier Six Transcendent.

"Yes."

Su Xing nodded.

It wasn’t that Su Xing was unwilling to elaborate. If he did, he would be laying his cards on the table. Although this senior named Qin Mo seemed very friendly, it was the first time they had met. They were hardly at a point where they could confide in one another.

’Besides... even if Qin Mo misunderstands something, it probably won’t cause any problems. He’s in the Treasure Pavilion smithing all day, anyway.’

"Alright!"

"Then watch yourself, little brother!"

Qin Mo said with a smile. The moment he finished speaking, his eyes sharpened, and he stomped his right foot, lunging straight for Su Xing.

BOOM!

Without another word, Qin Mo’s figure vanished from sight. The ground where he’d been standing exploded, and he shot toward Su Xing like a cannonball.

Amidst the massive sonic boom from breaking the sound barrier, the air in his path was instantly annihilated, kicking up a huge shockwave of white vapor.

In just an instant, Qin Mo had already closed the distance between them, appearing right in front of Su Xing as he threw a thunderous punch straight at his face.

The instant the punch came flying, Su Xing could clearly see the flames leaping from the fist, which thrummed with an inexplicable, terrifying power.
