Chapter 374: Chapter 232: White Fox Girl 2

Su Xing was in agony, but as his enemy, the Witch Summoner was having just as bad a time.

This was because he didn’t feel like he was fighting a human at all. Instead, it felt as if his opponent was nothing but a crazed monster.

His Essence possessed the property of annihilation, and when combined with his own terrifying strength, a single punch could probably blast clean through a dozen stacked heavy tanks.

Yet when he struck Su Xing, even though his opponent’s face grew more distorted, Su Xing’s fists kept swinging back as if unimpeded. It was as though he couldn’t feel his own injuries, attacking with mad abandon.

In truth,

the Witch Summoner wasn’t wrong.

In his current state, it was hard to call Su Xing a complete person.

At this moment, besides possessing a sliver of basic awareness, Su Xing was fighting entirely on instinct. This made him utterly fearless, unafraid of death.

Combined with a physical constitution that was already far beyond others of his rank, and now further enhanced in his "Shattered Sword" state, he still had the ability to fight back, even when facing an equally terrifying foe.

In other words,

if he hadn’t encountered the Witch Summoner,

the Su Xing of this moment could be said to possess a true body of steel. He could walk through an arsenal bristling with missiles and emerge without a single scratch.

Thus, while both sides could injure the other, neither possessed the means to end the fight. The battle devolved into a complete, grueling stalemate.

As the two battled furiously, the experts drawn by the commotion finally showed themselves. At their head were Li Ye and the Luocheng branch chief, and their faces were masks of utter disbelief.

The others had never seen Su Xing before, but the Luocheng branch chief knew his background quite well. Li Ye had also met Su Xing once. But none of them had ever imagined that Su Xing could be so terrifyingly powerful.

"Who in the world are these two? Why have I never heard anything about them? More to the point, is a battle of this magnitude... truly at the Eighth-Rank?"

High on the cliffs, the newly arrived Dragon Gate Master’s voice was laced with shock. He stared down at the earth-shaking, apocalyptic scene below and couldn’t help but glance at the Elders beside him, seeking their opinion.

"..."

The Elders all shook their heads. Dragon Gate had many Eighth-Rank members, but none of them had ever seen a battle of this level.

It wasn’t that they couldn’t create such an explosive battle scene themselves, but it would consume an enormous amount of their energy. After a single such fight, they would likely be too exhausted to continue.

It was almost impossible for them to wield such terrifying power with every move, as the two below were doing. It was simply inconceivable.

"That man is Su Xing."

The Luocheng branch chief, standing to one side, said with a complicated expression.

"Su Xing?"

"An unusual name."

The Dragon Gate Master didn’t recognize the name immediately, but Li Ye and the Liu City branch chief, who were standing nearby, did.

Li Ye had naturally investigated Su Xing because of his dealings with the Cyan Cloud Sect. For the Liu City branch chief, it was even simpler. Just the other day, the name "Su Xing" had made waves among the higher-ups of their special organization. He never expected to meet the man here so soon.

At the time, he hadn’t believed that someone so young could slay two Eighth-Rank beings. But now, seeing Su Xing’s true strength, he realized that forget two Eighth-Rankers—even seven or eight of them, all with his own level of power, probably wouldn’t be able to stop Su Xing in his current state.

He was simply terrifying.

"If that’s the case, who is the other one?"

Seeing that everyone else seemed to recognize Su Xing while he was the only one who couldn’t, the Dragon Gate Master frowned, pointed at the man trading blows with Su Xing, and asked.

"I don’t know."

The Luocheng branch chief frowned and answered bluntly. He didn’t recognize the man. In other words, he had no idea such a powerful individual even existed in the world.

The others also shook their heads. They were all modern people, after all. Only the Dragon Gate Master felt a faint sense of familiarity. A few seconds later, he seemed to recall something. A flash of disbelief crossed his face as he exclaimed in shock:

"How can they still be alive?!"

"Who are ’they’?"

Seeing the Dragon Gate Master’s reaction, the others immediately pressed him. The Dragon Gate Master was a being from before the era of Spiritual Qi depletion; it was only natural that he would be more familiar with such entities.

"..."

The Dragon Gate Master hesitated for a long moment. Just as he was about to speak, a woman on the opposite cliff interrupted him.

"The Witch Race."

Two faint words drifted over, seemingly in answer to their question. Everyone looked up toward the source of the voice.

They saw only a small girl wearing a White Fox mask, perched on a protruding slab of rock.

The girl was very short, appearing even more so when compared to the Extraordinary Beings present. At only about four and a half feet tall, she looked like a child who had yet to mature.

She sat on the rock, a pair of small, fair feet dangling and swinging with the wind, seeming to exude an inexplicable aura.

Of course, the most eye-catching thing about her wasn’t her small, fair feet, but the White Fox mask she wore.

It was an exquisite mask, so finely made that one could see its inlaid jewels even from a distance. Yet, paradoxically, it seemed to completely erase the wearer’s presence.

If she hadn’t suddenly spoken, few would have noticed her, even though she was sitting right across from them.

Even when they tried to use their own senses to perceive her, they still couldn’t detect a girl sitting there. She was like a phantom, a visible ghost.

’Another dangerous one.’

A clear consensus flashed through everyone’s minds. At this moment, all thoughts of fighting for treasure were put aside. They were, after all, members of special organizations. While they might fight amongst themselves when there were no outside threats, their priority was always to unite against a common enemy.

"The Witch Race..."

The Dragon Gate Master’s face was grim. "I’ve heard of this race," he said. "They are said to be a people from the Desolate Ancient Era. I thought they had been completely wiped out."

The Witch Race. It was an ancient name that many Extraordinary Beings had only heard of in passing, largely because of the sheer amount of fan-created works about them.

Even in ancient times, many charlatans would make up techniques that had nothing to do with the Witch Race, slap the "Witch Race Secret Technique" label on them, and make a fortune. This alone was proof of the status these ancient races held in the minds of Extraordinary Beings.

Hearing this, the White Fox Girl on the cliff suddenly began to laugh. Her body shook with mirth, and her laughter, like the ringing of silver bells, sounded surprisingly pleasant to the ears of these old men.

They were all intelligent men, each of whom had experienced countless trials. Why would they be so charmed by a little girl’s laugh? It was obvious she had used some kind of trick on them.

However, the fact that she could do it so easily proved her power was not to be underestimated. None of them had any intention of provoking her now.

"The Witch Race is indeed formidable."

"But if insignificant little things like you can survive to this day, why is it so surprising that the great and famous Witch Race could use a few tricks to do the same?"

Despite being an entire cliff’s width away, the little girl’s voice rang in their ears as if she were whispering right beside them.

Just then, Yi Changhao suddenly appeared at the Dragon Gate Master’s side. He was about to bow and speak, but the Dragon Gate Master stopped him with a gesture, because it seemed the White Fox Girl had more to say.

"A little thing that doesn’t even have an Essence."

"And you still dare to linger here. How pitiful."
