Chapter 370: Chapter 230: Rout (Part 2)

If he weren’t gripping a man’s neck in his hand, Su Xing might not have even realized he was an Extraordinary Being. This posed a serious problem for Su Xing’s perception.

"Someone got here so quickly?"

The man glanced at Su Xing and Feng Jue in surprise, then frowned. Their appearance was clearly unexpected.

After all, this place was remote enough that it would take ordinary people a great deal of time to find it. The same was true even for Extraordinary Beings.

"It doesn’t matter."

"I’ll just have to kill you both."

The bear-like man glanced at them, a cruel smile spreading across his face. "Don’t blame me. If you have to blame someone, blame yourselves for your bad luck."

The moment he finished speaking, a terrifying power erupted from his body. It manifested as a flash of white light that instantly slammed into Su Xing, sending him flying.

BOOM!!!

It was so fast that Su Xing had no time to block or dodge. He took the full force of the blow head-on.

A great cloud of blood mist erupted. Gore—a mix of blood and flesh—splattered in every direction, instantly coating the ground.

Su Xing’s body was monstrously tough. That a single blow could reduce him to such a state was a testament to the man’s terrifying power. And yet, the man himself looked surprised.

’Such terrifying power...’

Su Xing was covered in wounds, but he still staggered to his feet. He recognized a familiar sensation from his opponent, similar to when Li Longxuan attacked, only this man’s aura felt even more powerful.

Facing such a foe, Su Xing’s heart sank. This enemy was far more monstrous than anyone he had encountered before.

"To withstand a blow like that... you’re no ordinary person, are you?"

The man’s expression turned to one of surprise as he watched Su Xing stagger to his feet, the wounds on his body already beginning to slowly heal.

"Who are you?"

"As I understand it, there’s no one like you among the Tier-Eight masters who came to Desperate Gorge."

Su Xing exhaled heavily, his expression grave. "And shouldn’t you give me a reason for attacking me out of the blue?"

Su Xing studied the man. Though his strength was terrifying, Su Xing wasn’t completely without a chance. Besides, he was genuinely curious about the man’s identity.

"An explanation?"

The man chuckled. "Do you bother explaining yourself to the ants you crush underfoot?"

His tone was casual, his expression placid, as if he were stating the obvious.

To him,

it was.

In that brief exchange, he had keenly perceived Su Xing’s true realm. He could kill countless Tier Six Martial Artists like Su Xing with a single slap.

Even if this one was different, able to withstand his punch, he was nothing more than a slightly larger ant.

Su Xing could clearly sense the disdain in the man’s tone. It had been a long time since he’d gained his power and met someone who looked down on him. The condescension made Su Xing narrow his eyes.

"A Tier Six Realm practitioner who can withstand one of my attacks... Even in my era, someone like you would be considered an unbelievable prodigy. Given a little more time, perhaps I truly wouldn’t be your match."

"Someone like you has earned the right to know my name. Listen closely."

Su Xing couldn’t quite understand the man’s words. Perhaps the eras separating them were too vast, creating a language barrier. Yet, for some reason, he understood the man’s meaning perfectly.

The man lifted his chin slightly, a grin splitting his lips as he faced Su Xing. "I am Witch Summoner, a Protector of the Witch Race."

His level tone carried an unparalleled confidence, as if this identity was his greatest source of pride.

’A Protector of the Witch Race...’

’Honestly, the title alone carries the heavy weight of history. Combined with his simple animal-hide loincloth, it’s very likely this man has the most ancient origins of anyone I’ve ever met.’

’But...’

’What exactly is a Protector of the Witch Race?’

’I’ve heard of the Witch Race in stories and fiction, but I have no idea if a race by that name ever truly existed in this world’s history, let alone how powerful they were.’

While Su Xing was deep in thought, Witch Summoner’s body began to change. His height shrank from over two meters to closer to one-ninety, and his frame grew leaner.

"This is..."

Su Xing frowned. He was shocked to see that the man’s appearance had transformed into that of the recently deceased Sect Leader of the Jue Dao Sect. Without careful inspection, it was impossible to spot any difference.

The entire transformation unfolded before Su Xing’s eyes. He could clearly sense that the man hadn’t used any Extraordinary abilities. It was achieved through pure, powerful control over his muscles and bones, not through external aids like Sequencers or Qi Cultivators would use.

In other words, this Protector from the Witch Race had achieved a terrifying level of control over his own body. He could truly alter it at will.

With such control, his combat prowess must be equally terrifying. Under that level of mastery, even an ordinary body could unleash several times its normal power, to say nothing of a physique as monstrous as his.

"The Witch Race needs this flower, too?"

Su Xing asked with a frown.

"Heh heh, you seem to know a lot, kid. I don’t know what’s inside it, but I can feel its aura."

Witch Summoner said with a laugh.

"You’ve come here and you know so much... you must be here for that thing as well. I never expected a little Tier Six whelp like you to make it this far. Are the Extraordinary Beings of this era really so pathetic?"

"Enough. Since you’re a Martial Artist, we’ll let our fists do the talking."

He was now only a step away from his prize, so he had no intention of wasting any more words on Su Xing. It was time to act.

The instant he finished speaking, Witch Summoner unleashed a punch at Su Xing from hundreds of meters away!

BOOM!!!

With an ear-splitting boom, the very air in the punch’s path detonated, transforming into a visible white shockwave that shot toward Su Xing. Even the space that had been firmly bound by the Dragon-locking Pillars began to tremble violently from the force of the blow.

The furious blast wave instantly tore the ground asunder. Even solid boulders were ripped to shreds in an instant. Dust and debris shot into the sky, carving out a hundred-meter-long path of death.

Faced with such a terrifying attack, Su Xing had no time for anything but instinct. He instantly launched the Black Sword forward like a flying blade.

Su Xing knew that if that punch landed, he would be gravely injured. He absolutely could not meet it head-on.

VMMM!

The Black Sword shot forward like a cannonball. Amidst a deafening roar and a spray of shattered rock, the ground in its path exploded as if it were paper, leaving a long, massive trench in its wake.

However, the moment the Black Sword made contact with the man’s fist, the unthinkable happened.

The Black Sword posed no threat at all; it simply dissolved. It wasn’t shattered by the punch, nor did it pierce its target. It just vanished, like winter snow melting under the spring sun—only the process was accelerated countlessfold.

"How can..."

Astonishment crossed Su Xing’s face. The last time the Black Sword had shattered was ages ago. It was like an indestructible Divine Artifact that was rarely thwarted, but this time was completely different.

And then,

the punch landed squarely on Su Xing.
